  1. Correct; the term "donk" came about because the impala emblem on those cars looked like a donkey to those that had no clue that there WAS such an animal as an impala. To each his/her own. we ALL have different ideas about what does & doesn't look good on a model. I like a lot of different styles so there's no telling what I'll put on a particular build. I WILL respect the next builder's work enough not to trash it. And just because I think this is a cool picture...
  2. Moe-be-us. Revell: the two Ls at the end of the word designate that the accent is on the second syllable (at least in this case). Johan, from what I gather, is derived from "John Hanley". I'm fascinated by those that pronounce "Tamiya" tuh-MI-yuh. It all goes back to the basics of what we learned in grade school. I guess I payed too much attention to my English/grammar teacher. http://cs.finescale....s/t/125379.aspx
  3. About the same for me.
  4. For those of you that dig the color-changing paints, Sally Hansen (fingernail polish company) made a line of color-changing polishes called "Nail Prisms". I have a few bottles left and I have also used them on a few projects... They can still be found on Ebay for roughly $5 a bottle. They work best when applied over a black base and thinned at least 50% polish/thinner.
  5. Wheels usually come first, then a color choice.
  6. This looks great so far!!!
  7. I was expecting to see more of this...
  8. Thanks for the compliments but I only attempt to do some of what I see. I see paintjobs like Truscale's, Gary Seeds' and others and am in AWE at what they accomplish with an airbrush! I have a lot of ideas in my head but often am not sure how to go about laying them out. I just grab some tape and a few fresh #11 blades and get to it. I'm glad that others dig my work; I just try to enjoy it as I go along.
  9. Here's an Olds Starfire I got a good start on but lost direction... Loosely inspired by this car... I want to finish this one but I'm at a loss as to how to proceed with the top patterns. I'll figure something out.
  10. That pretty much sums it up for me; I wasn't going to get one but because of all of the hoopla, I feel the need to build it and work through whatever issues I find with it. I have enough REAL issues in life to be worried about problems with a non-life threatening lump of plastic.
  11. Fingernail polish, decals, pearl powders, & masked graphics...
  12. I used a LOT of tape on this... and this...
  13. That particular "Luxy" series of kits is discontinued for the time being. Similar to their wheelsets, they do a run for a while then it may be YEARS before we see them produced again.
  14. Scalefinishes first, then fingernail polish.
  15. I never use Photobucket anymore because it freezes my computer. I use Fotki instead.
  16. I WANT to attend but I'll have to see how it goes.
  17. It really turned out great!!
  18. I dig it but I don't like how the hubcaps stick out farther than the rim edges. Nothing major. I'd still buy the kit.
  19. This is an extremely attractive build!! I need to find mine and finish it.
  20. I like that!! The colors work well for me! You don't see too many Chasers built.
