  1. Phenominal! Glass smooth paint, subtle sleeper mode... Looks stock, just don't pop the hood... Makes me want to dig my kit out and take a crack at it... WHOOOO, very nice!
  2. Beautiful! You need to clean cases more often, I'm loving the eyecandy!
  3. Very nice... Steel wheels, inline six, basic trim package... a modest 'working mans' car... I love it! I really enjoy seeing builds like this, out of the mainstream, unmolested, no billet, no bling but a basic, nice, clean driver... a survivor. I'd be more than proud to own, drive and show the 1:1 version.
  4. That paintjob looks like you could reach into the body panels and pull out a handfull of wet color... Spectacular!!!
  5. I'll take those prayers and any others that anybody wants to send my way! Loss of sensation and dexterity in my hands has always been one of my biggest fears and now it's come to pass... My Doc thinks I may have ruptured a disc in my neck... Aggressive steroid therapy (Prednisone) did me no good, whatsoever... I'm having some pretty nasty pain in my right shoulder and if I'm holding a small part between my thumb and forefinger, I can't tell the part is there without looking... I can still build, it just slows me down and takes rethinking anything to do with my right hand. Doc says surgery may be the only way to fix it. I'll know more after Wednesday and I'll certainly let everyone know what the news is. Today, I did do a little work on the Lindy Charger kit that's holding everything up... It's going to be a 'Law-Enforcement-esque escort vehicle' for a Mobile Command Post/Containment Lab that I'm going to build using a Lonestar and modified Moebuis' 53 footer... To give a little background on the whole project... for those of you who are familiar with H.P. Lovecraft and Cthulhu Mythos, Delta Green is still in business... This Pete was originally slated as the power unit for the CP/Lab but the Lonestar just cried out to be included... I'll get this Pete unpacked in the next couple of days and get some more current pictures so I can update this thread... Then, onward through the fog!
  6. I'm trying... Thanks for the encouragement! I'm having a bit of a problem right now... I go in for an MRI this Wednesday to see why I am having numbness, weakness and loss of reflex in my right hand. Luckily, I'm a lefty but... my hand not working like it should has me a bit worried...
  7. Brad, I like what you've done so far! I have a copy of that Jimmy Flintstone body. One thing you'll want to check is the size of your windshield opening and the donor windshield. The only reason I mention this is that I am using the '57 Chevy PU Street Machine as a donor kit and the windshield is too small for the opening. I'm going to reduce the opening with styrene rod to remedy this.
  8. It's something that you have to tolerate if you DON'T live in paradise...
  9. G, thanks for the compliments! Aaron, nice build. I want to build a couple more of these planes, two from the 95th Aerosquadron. Charles Wooley wrote about his fathers experience during WWI in "Echoes of Eagles". His father started as a volunteer American ambulance driver on the Western Front and went into aviation after the US entered the fray. He flew with Quentin Roosevelt in the 95th, in France. I'd like to build Lt. Wooley and Lt. Roosevelts planes...
  10. I hear you! Been playing since Burning Crusade!
  11. I'd think that would be mandatory... Very neat video!
  12. This is the aircraft flown by Americas first fighter ace, Lt. Douglas Campbell. Lt. Campbell flew with the 94th Aerosquadron (The 'Hat in the Ring Boys') over the Western Front in France, in 1918. The 94th was the same unit that Lt. Eddie Rickenbacker flew with. This is a pretty small kit. The wingspan might be 5", probably a little less... I wish I had discovered 1/72 WWI and Inter-war aircraft years ago... These are really fun build subjects and I can build one fairly quickly compared to 1/25 scale cars and trucks... Kinda gives me a good sense of accomplishment to turn out something like this after just a couple of evenings of work...
  13. I think the AT-11 is a PM kit, It's the only maker I've found that makes an AT-11. I'd love to find another and build it as a Gunnery trainer...
  14. Aaron, thanks for the links, the Olimp site is new to me so I'll check it out. I wish I had discovered 1/72 aircraft years ago... I'm loving the WWI to Pre-WWII aviation subjects. I'm working on the P-6E kit now, along with an old Airfix Fokker Dr.1 Triplane. I just finished a Revell Nieuport 28C-1.
  15. This is a good thing for Revell and Moebius for reasons others have already mentioned... On another note, check out the Krupp Titan listed right below it... I'd like to get one of those and a couple of 1/24 Emhar Bedfords... They'd make unique additions to my collection...
  16. Well, the Wagoneer's serviced and ready to go. I've broken out my winter gear, coat, boots, etc... As far as models go, I have several (almost three dozen) aircraft and armor kits in 1/72 and several 1/35 armor kits that I can do all the paintwork on with brushes. I have around half a dozen automotive and heavy commercial projects started that are painted and just need final assembly...
  17. I think 18 and 20" wheels look fine, when they're properly tucked under like these are. Very nice work, I love the styling of these old Olds...
  18. DO IT!!! Chop the top, lower that sucker into the weeds, power it with the V-10/T-56 combo, put low pro tires under it and run with it! Build it for you and the sky is the limit! you might be able to use the wheels and tires out of an old Ford F-350 kit... Are you planning on dragging a trailer with it? If you lower it, it may pair nicely with a Galaxy 38' gooseneck... Just throwing out ideas... Whatever you do, we'd definitely like to see pictures of it.
  19. They're looking great! I saw the old thread that shows what they looked like when you aquired them. It warms my heart to see that you are giving them the TLC that they need. I really like the looks of the Transtar... That's a beautiful color combo.
  20. Hey! I have one of those! Your's turned out really nice! I built mine many years ago and remember that I did't have much trouble with it . Well Done!
  21. Thanks, Jeff. I tried to get all the things I would have to have and stll not be ponderously long. there's accomadations for two with a shower, sink, toilet and microwave. plus several storage drawers under seats and whatnot. This is basically a 108" or 9' sleeper. That makes for some pretty good comfort and not have to tie a good portion of your GVW up in the tractor alone. I'm getting pretty stoked about finishing this build because I've decided to put it under the 53' dropdeck lowboy that I converted from an AMT lowboy kit... I believe that they will make a wonderful pair...
  22. You can see in the frame modification pics in the first post that I added about 8" of K&S Brass channel to the inside of the frame rails. I don't remember the exact size of the C-channel I used, just that it tucked in nice and snug. I fixed it in place with 5 Minute epoxy. This stuff will bind and hold almost anything... Since the simple frame rails in this kit had no lower flanges I also added those using .040 x .100 styrene strip fixed with Tenax 7R. This in itself made the frame so much more rigid than before that I added the brass C-channel just as insurance that the frame wouldn't sag over time. I didn't add another crossmember because of the way the bunk floor is integrated into the entire structure. Thanks for the compliment on the interior. I painted it and flocked the floor before I packed it away... Made a laptop and coffee mug for the table and such... I'll have to dig it out and post pics of that next... I just dread getting into that closet right now... The resulting avalanche that may occur when I open the door kind of dissuades me from getting into it...
  23. I am impressed! You are definitely doing this one justice! It's been really inspiring to me!.
