  1. I'm glad we inspired you! I have two more of these W900's in my stash and want to get several of the Petes... The only issue with these kits is that the tires can be warped, making assembly tricky. Patience and superglue usually solves that problem... Yes, the trailer is the current AMT/Round2 re-issued Freuhauf flatbed kit. It's a nice kit that builds up easily and really compliments any truck kit.
  2. These trucks seem to me to be the Holy Grail of 'snap kits'... They were originally engineered and marketed as snapkits but after a while, they were just marketed as a model kit... The Revell Peterbilt 359 is engineered the same way as the W900. But, as others have said, they do build up nicely. They're an easy way for me to add numbers, cheaply, to my own fleet... I'm posting these pictures with the intent of inspiring you to work with this kit, and not get frustrated with it... the end result is well worth the effort. This one I did, using the optional decals from the kit with the company logo and lettering decals made on my computer... This Pete 359 is basically the same kit as the W900. Revell just changed the body and the body mount on the frame, everything else, frame, suspension, driveline, is the same in both kits. Shoot, since these kits are pretty inexpensive, I won't hesitate to chop one up and get a little crazy with it. They lend themselves to modifications quite well... This is the same kit as the orange and black Pete... So, there you have it, I hope these help. If you have any questions about how these go together, feel free to PM me and I'll help you out as best as I can.
  3. I await updates with bated breath! I'm looking forward to seeing this!
  4. Nice! Very nice execution! I really like the wedges holding up the passenger side window... Those bring back some not-so-fond memories of my youth...
  5. My weakspot, other than between my ears.... Color coordination and selection... and about one in three paintjobs... I can think up a beautiful two-tone paintscheme, pick the colors and end up with the ugliest color combo ever inflicted on the automotive modeling world... Many a body has gone for a swim in brake fluid because the colors were nauseatingly UGLY... As for the paintjob ratio, sometimes my paintjobs just FAIL... The paint falls off, wrinkles up, fisheyes, or something. One day, I can throw an award-winning, smooth-as-glass paintjob and other days, I walk away from the paintbooth contemplating taking up needlepoint...lol!
  6. Very nice! Unique color and a very clean build!
  7. Just when I think I've seen it all... Insane as usual, Doc! I love it!
  8. Ohh, that's beautiful! I want one!
  9. Here are my reasons, in no particular order... and others have covered these as well... -Comaraderie -Show deals -Inspiration, I love puttering around the show area... Being that I have to use a wheelchair because I'm severely limited, mobility wise, most of the models are at eye level... -Roadtrip. Usually, a trip to a model show involves carpooling with other members of our local modeling club.
  10. I grew up on, and still love watching Looney Toons, Merry Melodies aka, Bugs and Daffy... Tom & Jerry... Droopy and Friends... Tex Avery was a genious! On a 'modern note', the only modern day cartoon series I really like is 'Ed, Edd & Eddy'... I guess I just don't get 'Adult Swim'...
  11. Welcome to the Funnyfarm!!! Please, please, please, post some pics of your builds! We love new subject matter! Danno, was that nice enough???
  12. And once again I say, "I BLAME YOU, DR. CRANKY!!!" For financial reasons, I was going to wait to get the Hornet but... I picked one up at my LHS, yesterday! Looking hard at this thread and at other references, I'm still not sure how to build it... I do know that I'll end up building more than one... Thanks again, Doc! This is the cure for what ails me!
  13. 'Unusual' is correct, but it's somethin that a rodder with little money could have easily done... "Hmm... I just grenaded my V8... Dad has that old 4-banger stashed in the corner of the garage... BINGO! Problem solved!" I have several of the old Ford 4-bangers in my stash, flathead and OHV... they just haven't made it into any builds yet... I like the OHV conversion... and your scratchbuilt header turned out great!
  14. Awesome! There's something for everyone in there, well worth the time to look. Thanks for sharing!
  15. THis is one of the most awesome things I've seen in a long time! Keep posting pics, I want to see more! I love the little details...
  16. Thank you, sir! These'll come in very handy! I've added these to my files!
  17. Lood great! I love the SD conversion and the nasty little Hemi oozing out from under the hood... Wild combo!
  18. Thanks! Actually, Dr., it's closer to HO.. it's 1/72 scale. Although... I have seen a 1:160 (N-scale)motorbike. It was in a tiny little photoetch set. I see in my original post that I misinformed everyone... In the last pic, it's sitting on a US 50-cent piece, not a Quarter, like I posted... I had a 1958 Franklin half within reach and grabbed it to use in the shot... Mah fault!
  19. I've eyeballed this kit repeatedly... Thought about picking it up... Now, I'll live vicariously through your build for a while and then, when I can't take it anymore, I'll buy the kit...lol! I'll be watching this one closely!
  20. Insane, as usual, Roger! Your sculpting skills are truly first rate! I can't wait to see this one in person!
  21. The Old 1981 Jeep Wagoneer is still going strong!!! I took it on a road trip in early August and actually got 17mpg on the highway... Not to shabby for an old 4WD with a 360-2bbl/ automatic.
  22. Vacuum in the area you lost the parts with a piece of nylon panty-hose stretched over the end of the sweeper extension hose... It's worked for me in the past, maybe it'll work for you... Here's hoping, anyway!
  23. When I get burned out, I change Genres (Commit Heresy?). If I'm burned out on cars and trucks, I'll build a ship in 1/350 scale, or a 1/35 or 1/72 scale tank or support vehicle, or... as I've been doing lately, build a few 1/72 scale airplanes. This is a good way to keep modeling even if you don't feel like doing your normal thing. I seem to change modeling subjects every several years. I never get rid of any of the 'other' kits, I just put them away until I get burned out again. The guys at the Muncie Modelers Club accuse me of having 'Modelers ADD' because my attention is so scattered among various subjects... It's just a thought... Have a good one!
  24. Ok... I just finished scrolling through 20 pages of insanity and madness and have one thing to say to all of you... "I am in the presence of GREATNESS!!!" Here are two more contributions to the cause... I built this one last spring. Paint is Testors One-Shot and the lightning decals are from the newest Revell W900 kit. This one was built about twelve years ago, back when I was just discovering engine wiring... The engine is a supercharged 409 sporting four sidedraft Weber carbs... I do like oddball induction systems...
  25. I like it!!! This screams 'lowboy load' to me. It's a unique subject alright. Well... If anybodys a J.K. Rowling fan, you could get two of these and do your own version of the 'Knight Bus"... A purple triple-decker... Just a wild, pain-med induced thought...
