  1. Do I have a status? I have absolutely no idea!

  2. I can't wait to see new pics of the Auburn progress!
  3. That is one sick, twisted, and weird truck...and I love it! I remember lighting a '57 Ford Fairlane model with grain of wheat bulbs, including back lighting the instruments. Came out pretty good, and wish I still had that kit. I do have another unbuilt '57....hmmm. Did you use LEDs for all lights?
  4. Thanks for the information. I have the kit in storage, but have to get it along with some others. When I did some basic fitting (about ten years ago,) it seemed fine on the chassis, but time may have changed things. I hope it is still okay; I was planning to build it like a German ad that came out at its introduction, medium yellow body with a black roof.
  5. Took a few pictures of the 55 and 57 Revell Chevies...the 55 is a but rough, but complete except for the front bumper. I had originally built it in two tone white and black, but as the trim broke off, I repainted the main body gray. I replaced the missing trim with AutoWorld chrome tape (remember that?) The rear license plate is also an AW item; I still have a bunch of those sheets that I have yet to find. The wiring is thread, and I added a fuel line out of stripped phone wire, but didn't know what I was doing; it goes from the chassis to the carb and not the fuel pump! Plus I didn't know about how Chevy painted engines, either, thus the black and silver. The '57 is pretty darn ugly. Pactra pink, and only has one wheel left. I think the tires were from a Monogram 58 TBird, the wheel centers, I forget. I added the hooded headlights from the AMT 57, along with a grille that might have been from that, too. I forget. I glued a reel to reel tape recorder to the back of the front seat from some AMT kit. The paint is kind of rough; don't know if I can salvage this beast. Fun to see again, tho!
  6. Found some pretty old models I built in storage. Cool to see them after a number of decades. I'm only including a teaser shot of two of them. Hope you enjoy a little modelling nostalgia! This was my take on Li'l Coffin. I didn't like the purple plastic it was molded in, and wanted to get a different feel for the kit. I'll add more pics soon; I have a couple of minor repairs to make, but I'm amazed it survived basically intact. I brush painted it (and the Merc) with Pactra enamels; I liked how they applied, even if it took forever to dry. If I'm careful, I think I could even get them to polish out! I added a TV to the passenger side, a clear steering wheel, and bullet taillights from a mix of AMT custom parts. The Merc was one of my early attempts at a custom. My first majorly bloody Exacto knife wound came from cutting the B pillars out. I didn't have a razor saw at the time. Pactra Royal Blue, with the same Sea Blue used on the Coffin for engine, chassis, and details. It was so cool to dig these up again. I'll have more pics coming; I had to take these as I'm learning the camera I just got. I have a 55 and 57 Revell Chevy, too; the 55 was my first attempt at spark plug wires from carpet thread, and a dipstick. The 57 is a custom painted Pactra pink...what was I thinking??? It's missing 3 of 4 wheels, but the metal axles are intact. I have to do a resto project of it. Pics to come soon.
  7. I will be watching this, as I have the kit. One of my windshield posts were broken, but seemed that there was no warpage (yet.) Your engine is coming out well.
  8. Really cool project! I remember when I was a kid, my friend next door had that truck, along with his other Tonkas. He also had a BuddyL Ford station wagon (63 If I recall) that was neat because it had suspension.
  9. Wow. That is beautiful. Enough said. Love it.
  10. I'm not much of a truck modeler (the last one I remember building was the AMT "Movin' On" TV show model for my brother, so that dates me) but I love your build. I really like the vintage trucks, and yours is stunning. Superb job!
  11. Sorry to make you jealous! That's okay, I feel the same way about your build! It's good you are on the road; there were so many times that I wanted to complete a project, but work stopped it from happening as rapidly as I desired. The end result often proved that patience and time worked in my favor. As an aside, (and I wish I had pictures,) Denise McCluggage was the Grand Marshall at the vintage event at Lime Rock a while ago, and did laps in a Cunningham similar to your model. Wish I had paid more attention as to which one, but it was so great to see. Man, I love those cars!
  12. Looking forward to seeing this completed! I finally got a new camera today, and took a test picture of the Nicholas Watts print of the C5-R with John Fitch's autograph.
  13. Looks great; I like the before and after pics. You have to weather that engine compartment a bit, too! I should have the friend I built the '67 Monte Carlo Rallye car for send it to you to get it properly weathered!
  14. Wow, that's looking great! You need a Mini Cooper model in the same scale next to it just for size/ wheelbase comparison. Now that's a ambulance I wouldn't mind a ride in!
  15. The Colossal Man, 50 Foot Woman, and Godzilla have to have something to build!
  16. It came out great! I REALLY want to finish mine now. I agree with the comments on foiling, although the ribbed rear fender trim may work better with the metalizer. On my 1:1, the trim was pretty much dullish aluminum, with the raised ribs being more polished. I'm going to experiment with the dull side of cheap aluminum foil first and see if a light sanding of the ribs makes a difference, If not, then maybe I'll dullcoat the foil and again sand the ribs. At this scale, it might not even look any different. At any rate, your build has inspired me to ramp up on mine. Thanks for sharing it!
  17. Absolutely a beautiful build of a stunning car!
  18. Very nice work! I never though that I'd tell someone on this board that their models looked like junk, but for you guys, I'll make an exception! Your website is great, too. Welcome to the board, and looking forward to seeing much more of your "junk!" Cheers, Jim
  19. That is too cool! You should have included the "budvase" on the dash...with a stick of dynamite in it!
  20. Looking good! You still may want to get out some BMF (forgive me if I'm jumping the gun if you already planned it) as the grille surround and lower "lip" of the hood trim should also be chrome. If I recall, the "stars" on the C pillar have a lightish medium blue painted center. Hemmings Classic Car 1960 Starliner Hope this helps. Did a little more work on mine, but need to make a LHS run for white roof paint. I am definitely NOT looking forward to foiling it!
  21. Wow...really liking this...I vote for adding the '60 grille badge/ decal.
  22. Posted my last message a few minutes after Gene's. Didn't know there was a resin '57 available, but that would be the way to go. The biggest problem will likely be scale fidelity, as they might not match up well. Some of the early Revell stuff (and if I recall correctly, the 57 Brougham amoung them)can be a bit wonky.
  23. Wow, an ambitious project! There's little that the Brougham shared with the standard Cadillac line, including windshields. You might consider kitbashing parts from the IMEX 58 Eldo, but the scales might very well not work together with the old Revell kit. I had a 1:1 58 Caddy series 62 4dr, and I was disappointed with the Imex dash. The Brougham has added "fins" on either side of the speedometer that were topped with the turn signal indicators. If you wanted to have a bit less work (but it would still be a lot of work) there is a 1/32 Cadillac convertible diecast from I believe Signature Models that could be the basis for your limo. The main problem would be cutting up the diecast body to have the correct front and rear clips, then lengthen the chassis and build the main body somehow. Just a few thoughts. If you tackle this, count me in to follow it! I always wanted to build the 58 Caddy Limo from North by Northwest. Sorry, but I don't have the Merc wheels.
  24. That is sharp! Love the color and the period look. What paint is that? It'd look great on a 2 tone project I've been thinking of.
