Hoodstooth Pattern Decal
Exotics_Builder replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I make my own on clear decal paper. I just found a good Houndstooth pattern and replicated it to a large decal sheet. -
Ferrari 250 GTO - Fujimi or Revell Germany?
Exotics_Builder replied to Kmb0319's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Yes they did once, but for some reason, the last couple of "reissues" have been the Protar kit. -

Found it the other day. T.M.RESIN (aka Time Machine Resins) is vending on EBAY now -

That's just one shelf. There are four more, going all the way up to a LaFerrari -
Ferrari 250 GTO - Fujimi or Revell Germany?
Exotics_Builder replied to Kmb0319's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Sorry, I was away for the last day and a half and just catching up. You have got the answer already. Fujimi 250 GTO was never in an EM series. The Fujimi 288 GTO was. -
Ferrari 250 GTO - Fujimi or Revell Germany?
Exotics_Builder replied to Kmb0319's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
No, it is the Protar kit. It has opening everything (like the old Aurora/Monogram 250ish GTO), but suffers from a too squared back end amongst a couple of other things. I don't know about the tires in the Revell issue, but the Protar kits were terrible (a problem endemic to them). The Italeri and Fujimi are both good. Adding the HRM aftermarket engine does improve them, but not absolutely necessary. Lots of Aftermarket stuff for the Fujimi if you are looking for more detail. I have all of the aforesaid GTO's in my stash, if you have any other questions. -
Resin 1967 Chevy Pickup?
Exotics_Builder replied to Exotics_Builder's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
The cab would require considerable mods from a 68-72 to get to a 67. I had come to the conclusion a resin version would be an easier path. I did come across a diecast 67, but not very good photos to assess accuracy. -
I thought a while back that I had come across someone who had done a 1967 Chevy pickup cab and then you would have to modify a 72 C1500 bed to fit. I went through all my research and links plus Googled and cannot find anything. Was there such an offering?

Help wanted with engine ID

Right you are. I went and dug up some old instructions. -
Help wanted with engine ID
Exotics_Builder replied to landman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I agree on the first. The second looks like a Corvette engine (late C3?) given the partial air hose and the antilock brake box on the tree. C4's would have had the second gen LT1 but still front tranny (Except ZR1 would have the special engine). -
It can. You just need to be sure any paint it goes over is thoroughly dry or it will leave an imprint.

Revell Midgets - all gone?
Exotics_Builder replied to Jonathan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have one of each (one was a raffle win) and the great decal sets from VRM. R&MofM sold extra tire/whell sets for the trailer as well. -
Chevy/gmc resin 4x4 conversions???
Exotics_Builder replied to Whelen36's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Don't think Randy sells it anymore. It was a simplified front end. I'd have to check my version to see if a transfer case was included. I don't remember that there was one. Also, the AMT Cadillac Escalade has a 4x4 suspension that can be adapted as does the curbside Revell Escalade (needs work to open the engine bay) -

Most of the models on my wish list will likely never be done by Revell, or perhaps any major manufacturer. This thread seems to me to be a variation of Revell of Germany's online wish list that sort of evaporated. I just can't get excited about these lists anymore as I feel they mainly a waste of time. Not that there might not be something on here that can get produced, but how long and far out?

You didn't mention model, but sometimes PE frets will have side marker lights included. If yes, applying Tamiya clear yellow over the front and clear red over the rear does a respectable job. Otherwise, decals are sometimes provided or available. Not as convincing, but can be workable. Otherwise, you need to scratch build them one of two ways. One would be with plastic strip to create the frame and you "color" in or build a template to cut a recess in the body (more modern cars) and fill smooth with liquid clear and then color.

Polishing Glass
Exotics_Builder replied to High octane's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Polishing cloths only go so far. Then it is on to either Novus or Wright's silver cream. Then Future only if required. -
PE emblem question
Exotics_Builder replied to Perspect Scale Modelworks's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The same. The only time I don't is if the scripts are so light (such as some AMT kits) that the ghosting after primer and paint gives a shot at placing it correctly (assuming the model is correct). But a lot of thought goes into that including any size differences, etc. So, normally sand off -
Anyone used C-1Models?

Product is great, service is greater. He will also work with you on PayPal, even though his site doesn't have that checkout option.
