  1. All Model of the Month winners from April 2013 to February 2014 are displayed and voted on. Voting is by peoples' choice in each category, results to be announced at the club annual banquet in March. All the Model of the Month winners are brought back at the banquet for an overall peoples' Choice. http://s150.photobucket.com/user/exotics_builder/library/214-02%20LMMCC%20Model%20of%20theYear%20display
  2. In the most case, I see the Foose kits form Revell as a "Branded" California Wheels series. The Foose name is, IMO, being used to draw interest. Like the California Wheels series, these seem to consist of mainly wheel/tire, engine dress up and decal differences on an otherwise standard kit offering. In some cases, the standard kit engine/drivetrain may be close to what Foose did in Overhaulin'. In other cases, like the 65 Impala, your engine choices are a 396 or the 409 as provided in the convertible. As I am building a 65 Impala with a 327 (to replicate my Dad's car), a little chassis and engine bay work needs be done to handle a small block. I just don't see Revell retooling only for this.
  3. As Fujimi never did a California, our most likely hope is RoG.
  4. If you are considering reducing a set of decals that drastically, I strongly encourage you experiment reducing in a graphics program. Raster graphics (read bitmap which is what scanners and cameras do) can be subject to considerable los of clarity if not scanned correctly. Even accepting that some clarity would likely be lost in that scale anyway, it is best to experiment to see if you get what you want before spending your money.
  5. Who makes, I guess? SS Stripes for what? Camaro, Chevelle, etc.?
  6. Since Kris' trans is quite reasonable and nicely done, that would be the way to go. Otherwise, the Revell 56 Chevy and 64 SBC Impala have Powerglides (the 63 has a manual). I replaced the Powerglide on my 56 with a Turbo-Hydro.
  7. From what I heard at an event this past weekend, a snap kit will be first as Chevy has yet to release the specs to do a full detail kit. Didn't hear any announcement dates though. So far this year, Revell is not tugging at my wallet. Which is probably a good thing when you're planning a 2000 mile move.
  8. As part of the Meadowdale International Raceway Preservation Assoc. winter event, there was an open house at McKee Engineering in Lake Zurich. The honored guest was David Hobbs, renowned racing driver and TV commentator. Although crowded, I was able to take some photos. To the album... http://s150.photobucket.com/user/exotics_builder/library/2014-02-01%20McKee%20Engineering%20Open%20House
  9. About time. I think that is worth a couple in stash!
  10. In the actual Ovehaulin' show on the car, Foose designed those wheels to replicate, in spirit, the Impala SS Hub cap Foose wheel:
  11. Correct. They are nice. Go to: http://www.rbmotion.com/
  12. Alclad actually sells a waterbased clear to use over their chrome and it does work. The grill was done in Alcad
  13. I saw a description that says the stock exhaust manifolds are NOT included. Haven't yet verified that.
  14. I use watch crystal cement I get from MicroMark. It also does PE where you want a strong bond but don't want to use CA
  15. Quite nice. Its a Syd Mead design.
  16. It can be done with the base engine. The big difference is moving the oil tubes more to the center of the engine. I did that when I built my version of the California almost 20 years ago. I also scratched the air cleaner to be more accurate: I have another California that I was intending to do more to, once we've moved back to Washington state.
  17. Got a Revell 49 Mercury Woody and AMT 69 Chevelle Convertible.
  18. I think it would be very useful to have a fret of different tabs and brackets. It would save me a bunch of work!
  19. I thought that was "twerk" with a hammer?
  20. Very nice job. It's a shame that Italeri also has the wrong engine in it as well. It is the 250 GTO with 250 SWB intake and airbox. But, yes, the interior is, by far, the biggest inaccuracy. It does make building the kit a chore.
  21. Four days this ime because of the weekend. Private Warehouse works very well. I have a couple of other items on order, but the 60 day max hold in the warehouse would be up by week's end. So I decided to get what was in and hold off the rest.
  22. Lucky day! The mailman just deliverd another package:
  23. My HLJ order with the Tamiya LaFerrari and other things
  24. It is difficult to get together members and family before Christmas, so the holiday event is held as a January Banquet. The theme model for this event was 1950's vehicles and decided by Peoples' Choice. The winner was: And here is the link to the album with the event pictures... http://s150.photobucket.com/user/exotics_builder/library/2014%20CARS%20in%20Miniature%20January%20Banquet
