  1. Taken at Thursday's Barrington Cruise Nite. Don't forget to deal with the rear window also, as fully down it still sticks up a tad (if you are really going for rivet counting accuracy)
  2. Oh, and if you are shooting for full accuracy on your 57 Convertible, don't forget that the rolled down rear window juts above the curve. To the album... http://s150.photobucket.com/user/exotics_builder/library/2014-08-14%20Barrington%20Cruise%20Nite
  3. Everything looks great except the wheels. They are five lug and LaFerrari's have center lug. Were you planning on converting the wheels using the center from the kit wheels?
  4. The only Minilites Revell has (excluding anything in the RoG original Mini or the likes) are the ones from the 67 Vette racer. My bet is that would be the source.
  5. Per conversation with Revell at our GTR Summer Meltdown, an RS Grill variant is very likely, convertible may be considered (if it is, maybe Pace Car?) and 68 NOT being considered at this point as AMT has their 68 out and the market may already be saturated there. Any time Revell comments at any show, it is a point in time given where they see the market and demand. That is a fluid area, so things can always change.

  7. Revell has a similar one that should readily be available, if that fits your need.
  8. You pretty much hit the big ticket stuff I've noticed. I'm using the Revell 430 to add some more detail to the Challenge car and also do a 16M using the conversion kit. The 458 is totally Revell's in my opinion. Just wish they would do the wheels differently. It's sad Revell didn't do the F12, but Fujimi pretty well got it, but more detail would be useful. The Hobby Design parts help improve it and I've got a C1 Novatec N-Largo conversion to add. Of the 4th Qtr. announcements only the Vette and ZlL-1 are must have's. The Ivo Showboat is a possible and the Ontos Thing (ex-Renwal). I built one in my early teens and thought it was cool. I am trying to set up an interview with Revell and see what more I might learn. I live only 11 miles from their offices.
  9. Haven't done a real compare although I guess I could. The Revell AG and Fujimi F430 and 458 are not clones. There are differences. If they hadn't been out for a while, it might be a good exercise.
  10. Point taken on scale reduction. For example, the Tamiya Ferrari 360 Modena looks very much prototypical when built. But in checking it out, it is wider than the actual car dimensions and the tires are almost F1 size, not spec size. But it looks right. Anyway, it is a test shot and hopefully it will be adjusted.
  11. I am no fan of the Torino nor, personally, would have made it a choice to offer if I worked at Revell. But it does appear to me from the picture I found that the back side window and roof sail panel need tweaking. Those deeply familiar with the real car and actually have access to one or accurate photos (versus personal recollections), need to speak up even though this is a test shot. As an example when the 65 Impala from Revell came out, it seemed to me, by recollections, pretty straight on since my parents had a 65 SS. When I compared it to photos of my parent's car (even though old Brownie Camera image quality) and seeing ones at shows, you could see some mishaps. Even so, I pulled out an AMT 65 and found it wasn't totally accurate either. Keep in mind, folks, when I go to shows or find out model info, I don't allow my personal interests/biases to interfere. I just try to collect info and get the best photos I can so the community is aware. Thanks,
  12. And doing a quick match up, got this:
  13. OK Uncola lovers . Revell had a small display at the GTR Summer Meltdown today. I just loaded up the pictures. Let the comments begin? http://s150.photobucket.com/user/exotics_builder/library/Revell%20Test%20Shots%2008-2014
  14. What browser? IE 11 , Chrome, Mozilla, Firefox? If IE11, you need to put this site in compatibility mode as IE 11 does things with added security, ActiveX, etc. For Compatibility mode for this site, select the cog in the upper right corner of the IE Window, select Compatibility View Settings and go from there. You are also using IMG type tags or the picture icon in the post toolbar? I am on IE 8.1 with IE 11 and Compatibility mode works on this site for me.
  15. Folks, before you all get excited, did not Revell convert there snap Ford Expedition to a Police version? Could this just be a reissue?
  16. Well if you "sniff" out the coming 2013 ZL1 from Revell, it says the retail is $19.95 and their price $15.95. Therefore, I would assume that this is the same simple (with engine) pre-painted format of the Zl1
  17. Getting closer. The engine is ready to put into the chassis and final polishing of the body is going on now

  19. Yes I did the photography. I do all my own. Thanks for the compliment!

  21. I buy what I plan to build, but my Father-in-law, about 30 years ago, bought me a Pocher 1/8 Rolls Royce kit with about 4,000 parts. It is still collecting dust in the basement stash area. There are kits I got that I no longer have a desire to build. I get rid of those at times. A lot are door prize wins that I ponder over before deciding.
