  1. With me having just gotten back into modeling I really enjoy building these old style kits. Not only does it remind me of days gone by but it also allows me to get back into the swing of things. Real nice build on a great old classic. Thanks for posting.
  2. The caliber of your artistry deserves each and every comment and view of this fantastic build. You are deserving of all the priase and accolades for your efforts at helping us all improve our skills. I, like many others, am forever grateful.
  3. That is one great looking car. The detailing on the engine is fantastic. Thank You for posting this.
  4. I have not built any models in more years than some of you are old and have just gotten back into model building. I have perused the pages of this forum for a couple of months now and have yet to see a model that wasn't of good quality. Some of the work that is done simply amazes me as it sure wasn't that way back in the day. Mom's sewing basket provided spark plug wires, fishing tackle box provided battery cables. Now I look at the work being done to-day and hesitate to post anything that I build simply because it WILL NOT be up to the standard that most of you work to. For instance I am working on a Five Window Coupe right now and yes there are mistakes, I am aware of them. There is no detailing, a simple paint it and build it model. But I am going to keep building and keep trying. Will I ever get as good as some of you, no, I'm to darn old now. We need to encourage people that build as this hobby appears to be dieing a slow death.
  5. Once again I am amazed at the quality and craftmanship I find on the pages of this forum. Great job
  6. There are times when a simple WOW is all I can say.
  7. I have got to get me one of these, looks great.
  8. Everytime I see this has been posted I think to myself." oh God now what has he done." And each time I am amazed. Great work does not describe this build.
  9. Back in 1966 a friend of mine had a 62 convertible with a 409 4 speed in it. He had it painted Marina Blue, had the interior rolled and pleated and put Keystone Mags on it. A lot of great memories.
  10. A really nice build. Love that blanket in the interior. Nice job.
  11. The first pictures fully explain the name of this thread. The second pictures, while not to my taste, are interesting. I do like Yosmeite Sam on the inside of the hood however.

    BOSS 429

Great job, clean, well painted and good detail of a great car. Congrats.
  14. I looked at each of the models displayed and thank you for taking the time to post them. I have given some consideration to joining a club here in Cleveland, Ohio but after seeing the work that your members have done perhaps I should wait awhile. I also noticed there was an AMT 1940 Ford in the box displayed with other boxed models. I envy the man the got this one.
  15. That is one mean looking Stude. Great job, love the paint job.
  16. I have noticed that different people start thier models in different ways. Some start with the body, then the interior and finish up with the frame and engine. I was wondering if there is any particular reason for this or it is strictly a matter of choice. I always started with the engine and frame, then the interior and finished with the body. But that was 40+ years ago also. though I found myself starting the Five Window Coupe I am currently working on in the same manner. I was just curious if there is a reason.
  17. I am very sorry to hear about your wife. Please know that our prayers are with both of you.
  18. I just back into Modeling myself and was anxious to try air brush techniques. I went and bought, some will consider it junk, Air brush Kit at harbor frieght. For 98.00 I figure if I don't care for air brushing then I really have not lost that much. If I do like it then I can buy a much better quality set-up.
  19. I have never used an Air Brish and was wanting to try it out. I went to Harbor Frieght and bought compressor and Air brush for 98.00 yesterday. If I don't like it then not that much lost. If I do like Air brushing then I will buy a better set up and use this one for priming.

    "66 Chevelle SS

Like a lot of people I have more than one favorite car. This 1966 Chevelle SS is the other one. If only it was Marina Blue. great build, great detailing
  21. Wow, three really great builds. Clean and very accurate looking.
  22. Harbor frieght Tools are not exactly the best quality you can get but they have a lot of things that modelers can use. From magnifying lamps to small vises and tools. I tell my wife to let me know when she goes to Michaels or J0-Ann fabrics so that I can just walk around looking while she shops. It is amazing what you can find sometimes.
  23. First off I would like to say thank you for the replies and welcome back into this great hobby. I have been busy gasthering the things I need and reading tips and tuturials. The information that has been given is very much appreciated. I tried to post some pictures to illustrate the cramped conditions and finally decided to try posting via Fotki. I hope this works http://public.fotki.com/prg5609/
  24. My wife, Paula, and I live in a very small house. I have compared it to an over-fed two car garage. Two bedrooms, smallest one is hobby room, living room, kitchen and bath. Just the two of us so it's big enough. No garage. When I paint something at the present I go outside to do it. Good results so far using a rattle can. But this winter is going to pose a severe problem here in Cleveland. Would a paint booth with an exhaust hose hung out a back window work or would I wind up with overspray on tha house. I need some help here, amy suggestions. Thank you.
  25. I will admit I'm not really into drag cars but I hope you will answer a question. What type of wire is that you are using and would it be correct for 1/24 scale?
