  1. This is the last comment I will make on this subject. First of all I agree that everyone is entitled to his own opinion and thoughts. But I will also agree that there are times when our pre-conceived thoughts only serve to bring them to reality. I went to the car show for several reasons, one of which was to see the models, meet fellow modelers and perhaps learn something about modeling. It seems to me that if a Club is going to put on a model display they need people working it that are knowledgeable about models, are friendly and really want to promote this hobby. A good example would be the recent show held in Columbus, Ohio sponsored by Buckeye Auto Club. ( not sure that name is correct) From all reports the show was a success. Friendly people, great models and a lot of vendors. This type of show PROMOTES the hobby. But then that's just my opinion.
  2. Got quite a bit of painting done to-day. Wow, it looks blue on here. It's actually more of a turquoise color.
  3. www.superchevy.com/ featurestrifive/ sucp_0710..._show_car/ photo_04.html This might help.
  4. If it can not be seen under NORMAL viewing it isn't there.
  5. Virgil, that is amazing. You are a true craftsman.
  6. It just seems to me that when a person shows interest in Model Cars that there are certain questions that should be asked. 1- Do you build models? 2- What type do you build? 3- Do you belong to a Model Club? 4- Have you checked out Model Cars Magazine? I mean isn't our goal to promote this hobby and increase participation in the different clubs?
  7. I'm building a 53 Ford Convertible and am planning on painting the body Tamiya Blue Coral. It's almost a light turquoise. What color would go with that for the interior??
  8. Last weekend the wife and I went to the Cleveland Autorama. We had a great time except for one instance. There was a Model Car Car Contest and the models were out on display on several different tables. We walked over to look at the models and were completely ignored my the men standing on the other side. I even asked one of them a question and received a very curt, NO. There was no attempt by those men to engage us in conversation, tell us about the models or anything. That does not seem to be a very good way to promote a Hobby we all love. Just my thoughts.
  9. I'm getting finished up on the 37 Ford I'm working on and decided to start on this 53 Ford Convertible. Got it at Ollies for 7.99. Any advice or cautions concerning this kit???
  10. Considering the price evne if I just use the two trucks for extra parts I'm ahead og the game. 7.99 each wow.
  11. I just opened the 53 Ford convert. for a look see. It appears to be a straight forward build. detail isn't to bad and what's missing I can handle with my limited skills. Thinking about going back out tomorrow and getting a couple of those Ford Police Cars. I can always build them stock, right???

    55 bel-air

What you came up with is a 55 that looks period correct. Colors are right, stance is great.
  13. Don't really care for the," in the weeds" look, but it is a very nice build.

  20. If it was difficult to build you did a good job on it. Looks good.
  21. I was finally able to get out to Ollies and boy am I glad I did. Picked up three models for 24.00. 53 Ford Convert 34 Ford Roadster Pick-up 32 Ford Street Pick-up The had quite a few Ford Police Cars and quite a few large ships, USS Hood, and airplanes. I'm not into those but they have them.
