To expand on what Aaron said, resin parts/kits are limited production pieces that would not be economically feasible for production by one of the big model companies. The molds are typically made of 2-part silicone and have a fairly limited life span. You get just parts like Optima car batteries, wheels, tires, valve covers, complete engines,...the sky is the limit. There are also conversion kits, like a chop-top body for a kit that already exists. It saves you the trouble of chopping the top yourself. This is a Jimmy Flintstone '49 Ford with chopped top. About ten bucks and you supply the AMT '49 Ford kit. There are complete curbside kits of all types. This is a Jimmy Flintstone kit of the Summers brothers "Goldenrod" land speed racer. IIRC, it's around 40 bucks. Beyond conversion kits and curbside cars, you have complete kits like a Model Factory Hiro 1958 Ferrari Testa Rossa. It has an interior and engine, but other non-visible details are typically not present in model like this. This particular model is over 200 dollars. It's expensive, but for many kits like this, it's the only one available, or it's a lot better than a mass-produced kit. Hasegawa recently issued their own plastic '58 Testa Rossa, for about 170 bucks less. Hmmm. I said at the beginning that the subjects are typically not feasible for mass-production by a big model company, then I mentioned that the '58TR is now available in styrene. To be fair, it did take 50 years for a kit, and it costs 57 bucks. Oh yeah- I showed a couple of different Jimmy Flintstone offerings. They make a LOT of different bodies for rods and customs. Most of them go for about 10 bucks. If you want to give resin a try, it's a good way to get your feet wet. The quality is not the best , but I'd say they're about an 8.5 or 9 out of 10. If you have your heart set on some cool resin kit but you wonder about the quality, by all means ask in here before buying it. About 15 years ago I bought my first resin kit, a Can-Am car. That thing looked like it was made by a crack-smoking monkey.

Wow. That's very impressive. I really liked the flashing lights. They are very realistic, unlike many models of emergency vehicles. I'm a big fan of the Sprinter. That's what I want when I start my own plumbing company. There's one plumbing company here in Austin, Texas that uses them. I got to look inside and they are just huge inside. Enough room to stand up, store all kinds of tools and parts, even keep a water heater on board. I'd like to build a model of it as a plumbing van. Is it plastic or a diecast? What scale is it? edit: I went back to the pics and saw it's a diecast.

I saw a blurb in Hot Rod magazine a few years ago. The Nova looks pretty stock but has a slight chop. The Corvette and Mustang look really Pro-Mod like. Anybody have a link for the company?

A Jo-Han '34 Mercedes coupe and Monogram Duesenberg Town Car. I finished these two while deployed to Afghanistan. The mission was so mind-numbingly boring and just effed-up...well...I don't know how to put it in perspective for anyone who hasn't been in that situation. Having a model car to work on may have literally kept me from losing my mind.

I got a ton of rivets from my LHS; King's Hobby in Austin 512-836-7388. They are made by Tichy Train Group. I bought mine for a military project. Since reference info is scarce on the subject, I just ordered a bunch of sizes. I got .020" diameter all the way up to .080". I'll just keep the extras for a rainy day. You do have to drill a tiny hole.

One was even rebodied back in the day. Swedish race car driver Ulf Norinder had a new body made by Drogo for his car. That body was later removed and sold. It's now on another Ferrari chassis. It's not always about identity theft. Sometimes an internet stalker just wants to post info about you on a completely unrelated website. I used to be on a political forum. There's one guy there who averages 19 posts per day. He has been know to call law enforcement in the town of people who disagree with him. He'll tell LEOs that Joe is up to no good. He posted info about me from other sites. He requested a medical book from one of those "Call now for an informative book..." type places and had it sent to me. He's not trying to take money from me, but harassment rarely is about money. I know I rant about non-descriptive thread titles, but I do not play mini-mod. Two thumbs down for the OP.

This may sound heretical, but why not have someone make a custom decal? It would have clean edges and be in scale.
