Wouldn't it be better to use sheet styrene for the entire thing? That wing is a symmetrical airfoil with tips turned down. I'd go with styrene and no putty. Just my humble opinion.

Cars you wished that was in 1/24

I quit posting there because the moderators do such a bad job. I said that in a post and defended my position in an argument with Jim Haught. My beef was over a prayer request getting deleted. He said it's not a prayer request forum. I think it's ridiculous to delete that but leave up so many posts that are absolute nonsense.

Like the creamsicle orange Hispano-Suiza?

Hey I like your color choice. I had that same kit almost 20 years ago and painted it Testors Arctic Blue Metallic (I believe that was the name of the color. It was a dark blue metallic). I'd go with white or silver primer. IMHO, blue looks better when "bright". Check out Blu Tahiti on this Lamborghini Miura.

Do you know of any other coachbuilt cars with round doors? I know I have seen one somewhere. Thanks.
-
Or cut them from solid decal film.
-
I really don't know. I think there is at least one other coachbuilt car out there with round doors. A couple of guys mentioned it in discussion of the Rolls, but I can't find it. I think there is one other car with really round doors, not just somewhat rounded.
-
I'd spend the extra $$$ and get a better looking model by getting the Vroom kit. I try not to buy anything made in China, and yes, that includes new Revell (and most other) kits. Do you know of the Bugatti, or any other coachbuilt classic with round doors?
-
I saw this Rolls-Royce while surfing the net. It is a 1925 Phantom, rebodied in 1934, by the Belgian coachbuilder Johnckheere. There were comments posted that a Bugatti Type 57 also had round doors, but I could not find photos. Can anyone show me that Bugatti (or any other coachbuilt car with round doors. IIRC there was a Delage or Delahaye, but I could be wrong) I did not know of the Rolls until last night when I saw a 1/43 resin kit on ebay. It's really cool, but $143 plus shipping from Munich is a bit much for me.

Did you see the 1/43 Koenig BB512 that's on ebay right now?
-
Was that a Ford RS200 I saw in one of the commercials?

Stutz Blackhawk LSR by Etzel's Speed Classics. It's a beautiful little kit. I'm just not sure I'll build it. Oh what the heck? I have two of them. I can build one and collect the other

Wow. I'm a plumber, and in the beginning, I hated it...well, I hated the jerk who led the construction crew I was on, anyway. I stuck with it and switched to service plumbing. It's not glamorous, but you can't have a guy sitting at a desk in India replace your leaking water heater. I'm good at it, too. Not just the technical side, but good with customers. At a house where I was repairing a leak in the yard, the busybody neighbor came out to gripe at me for laying an empty box on his side of the property line. Other guys would get confrontational, but I said I'll move it and called him "Sir". He later brought sodas to me and my helper. I ended up selling him a pressure test to see if his sprinkler system was leaking. There was a huge argument in here a while back about customer service. I said it's a grey area. You can't just run people off because they don't do everything your way. Now I'm proving my theory correct. The guy was a grouch, but his money spends just like anyone else's. Sorry for the hijack.

By whom? If you can afford to have a real car stretched into a hearse, you can afford to tell the coachbuilder to do it your way. You didn't mess it up, you built it to your specs. Carry on.

I hate April Fools Day.

Thanks, CAL. Do you have a photo of the black #3 car? Just wondering if I really need it for this buildoff.

I'm in. Provence Moulage 1/43 Cadillac Northstar LMP #3, 2000, 21st place. I'll be darned if I can find an online photo of it, though. Can someone make this a sticky?

No, I mean 959, The sketch for a 962 road car had a rounded nose with 959-style intakes on the corners, and 959-style headlights. I did some research and found out it was a Schuppan 962CR, by Vern Scuppan, ex-F1 and Le Mans driver. The sketch looked better than the production version of the 962CR. 962CR. Note the flat nose with 959-style intakes facing straight ahead. Also note headlights. They are simply clear covers for normal headlights, whereas the 959 had specially made headlights. 959. Note intakes/vents on the sides of the front and rear. I think the 962CR would have looked a lot better with a more rounded front and rear. To be fair, that may have been ruled out in the wind tunnel. If it looks cool but goes airborne at 230mph, it's not really a successful design. Here's a gallery of the 962CR "production" car: http://www.supercars.net/gallery/129612/1132/1.html -
Great build. I really like the intake trumpets. Did you make them yourself? If so, do you want to make another set? I have the same kit and I would love to have a set. Thanks, Lee

1/16 scale Koenig Speiclas Ferrari models?
LDO replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
They are both real 962s, just modified by different people. I don't remember if it was Koenig or not, but somewhere I have a sketch of a proposed 962 road car from an early '90s magazine. It had design cues from the 959; the headlights, the "hoop" rear wing, and vents/intakes at all four corners. It was really wild. -

Dauer Porsche 962 road car: Just do a Google search for Dauer 962. Several were built. I like the yellow car with black roof, but this photo is a good 3/4 view. Each car is slightly different. -

No, not me. I have to tell the truth; I'm making mine look more like a Dauer car. -
