" And the truth shall set you free "
LDO replied to Eshaver's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Can't we all just build model cars? Why does this BS keep coming back? This is a model car forum. Take it to a political forum. There are PLENTY of websites where an anti-Obama stance will get you "attaboys" all day long. Yes, I do have an opinion on this matter. No, I'm not going to share it here. Politics and religion are divisive. Here, we come together with a common interest in model cars. Can we please keep it that way? I'm going to start prepping my 1/43 Cadillac LMP for paint. -
You'll come around. Nice work.

LMG went out of business a long time ago. Try Micro Mark for what you're looking for.

Favorite Car of all time?
LDO replied to christopherparke69's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I could never pick just one. Two consistent favorites are well...several Figoni & Falaschi-bodied Delahayes and the Lamborghini Miura. -
Nice job. I love the color. I also had that kit around 20 years ago and painted it a similar color; Testors Arctic Blue Metallic. Nice!

Found an engine for my 1/1 '88 Mustang
LDO replied to LDO's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Oh it's getting subframe connectors, alright...and more. Yeah I know it's a tight fit, but I want it anyway. The '88 is a 5-speed. I have no use for its computer. Send a PM if you want it. -

The car came with a 4cyl. I just want something different. I gave some serious thought to a 460, but stock blocks are "only" good for about 600hp. -
Do what the builder did; order this set of plans and start cutting metal. http://www.vth.de/shop/warenkorb/artikel-e...7dc61f4cd0.html

I'm a plumber. I was working at one guy's house once when his neighbor came over and asked if he could store some 7.62x39 in this guy's garage. His in-laws were going to visit and he didn't want them to see it. The dude says "How many rounds?" His neighbor replied "Sixty THOUSAND"

Don't use the tools you normally use for plastic. You'll wear them out and make almost no progress. Are you talking about pounding out body panels from sheet metal or using round C-/round-/rectangular-section tubing to make chassis? Both are covered in Gerald Wingrove's books "The Complete Car Modeler" and "The Complete Car Modeler II". Look on Alibris, Amazon, and Abebooks. You will learn a lot by reading them. I have both books. Wingrove is a genius and master craftsman.

Step 1) Loot the local Homebrew supply shop. Step 2) Run to the hills & lay low Step 3) Make a lifetime supply of country wine from local honey and fruit But seriously- a local DJ who's a pretty funny guy had a call-in a few days ago. It was "What would you loot in a post-apocalyptic situation?". The homebrew shop was the clear winner. Someone also suggested the Lowe's close to the homebrew shop...to get materials for making more homebrew equipment.

Centrifugal Casting Machine
LDO replied to resinslinger's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I have a 4-page article on building a centrifugal casting machine for white metal. It's from an Australian hobby magazine back around 1993 or so (an Aussie buddy sent the article torn from a mag and it doesn't have a date or magazine name). If anyone wants a copy, let me know and I'll send it out. I may see if I can scan it and post it here. This one uses an automotive heater fan hooked up to a car battery for power. There's no reason you couldn't use a 110 ac motor, though. -
Lookin' good, man. I like your color choice. Are you going to modify any kits that Koenig built but aren't available in scale?
-
Unless you want to replicate an entry would from a 40mm grenade, you might just skip making a bullet hole. Many hits are done with a .22, and that hole would be around .009" diameter in scale.

Wouldn't it be better to use sheet styrene for the entire thing? That wing is a symmetrical airfoil with tips turned down. I'd go with styrene and no putty. Just my humble opinion.

I quit posting there because the moderators do such a bad job. I said that in a post and defended my position in an argument with Jim Haught. My beef was over a prayer request getting deleted. He said it's not a prayer request forum. I think it's ridiculous to delete that but leave up so many posts that are absolute nonsense.
