  1. That is looking pretty darn cool. The nose looks like it could have been a design sketch for the '63-'65 Riviera.
  2. I contacted a local shop and ordered a piece of tempered glass. It's 10 x 30 x 1/2 inch thick. Those dimensions are to hold two sheets and make a surface that is 9x22, and also be used in a single compartment kitchen sink. I may try it resting on towels or something. I have lots of scrap Corian (2 or 3 kitchen remodels worth. No joke!). I just need to cut a piece and glue strips on to capture the glass. Then it can be angled into the sink so water can drip on it and carry the swarf down the drain. Btw the shop I got it from is a small independent place. The guy who owns the business thought my use for it was really cool and I got a great price. I may get more for things like a model workbench top or even a darn nice display case. Thanks to all of you for the advice about tempered glass.
  3. Ah. Ok. I don't remember that one. I had one with Heather Thomas. Both cuties, though.
  4. Are you sure that poster wasn't Heather Thomas in a hot tub? Had it in high school. Nay get one for the man cave.
  5. The side door on the 21 footer is not molded in place. It's a separate part and you'll need to cut a hole for it. Not a huge deal. Actually a good idea, in case you don't want a door. I haven't built it. I'm chopping it up to make a sleeper for a custom toy hauler rig.
  6. Bill- if you drink, I'm going to owe you a bottle of Scotch for all the professional advice you give. Thank you. Also- I always wondered about that angle for the carb base.
  7. I got a PM from someone who saw the parts at a show and said they look really good. I decided to pull the trigger. Too many times I've heard of people missing out on good aftermarket products because they hesitated. A lot of this stuff is a sideline and isn't around forever. I'll post pics when it arrives.
  8. I just read an article in the new Street Rodder. They mention 3 degrees up for trans and 3 down for diff. How do you find true horizontal...or does it matter? Thanks. Lee
  9. Looks good in the ebay listing, and he has great feedback. Just thought I would check here before taking the plunge. For those not familiar, he makes the roadster with opening trunk. It has structure on the inside of the doors and trunk and a deuce type dashboard. He also makes a '32 5-window coupe (chopped, IIRC), and a deuce grille shell that looks better than the Revell part. Thanks. Lee
  10. Yeah. What did Fotki do? I've had a paid account with them for 17 years.
  11. It's not cool when you read a photo-intensive How To thread and the pics are gone or replaced with something else because the poster has a free hosting account with very little storage space. It can occasionally be good for a laugh, though. Send a PM if you want an example. Not posting that link here. I may take a while to get back to you. About to be away from the internet for a while.
  12. Don't like the wait, will still renew subscription. It's a good magazine
  13. I like lead foil, but it can be hard to find these days. Some folks like cheap masking tape for seatbelts. Fold it onto itself. It will still be thin and it has a little bit of surface texture. I have also heard of using paper cut into thin strips.
  14. Also- what's the deal with bumping threads this old? It seems to be a trend around here lately.
  15. Cool. I'll get one. Bonus question: Real world, is there a stroker kit for these early Caddy engines? IIRC, there was mention a 441ci Caddy in Hot Rod magazine not so long ago. Something about it being built for a guy who never picked it up. Wondering if that was the early engine or the '63 and later one. It's for Revell's '29 Roadster on Deuce rails. Thanks again.
  16. Hoping to find something like multiple Strombergs. Anything out there?
  17. It's "Mr Masking Sol Neo" from Mr Hobby. It's a liquid masking agent. Most often used to keep paint off an area where you don't want it. There are similar products from other companies. For what he's using it for, Bare Metal Foil also works. It's thinner, which is good. It can also be easier to find, if you like buying from local shops. I have used it when making air intake scoops on WWII aircraft.
  18. What does Steve sell?
  19. Yep. I don't want to hide the back end of that engine. To me, it is a beautiful thing. It just looks so nice. Little bit of recess in the firewall=ok. Need to stretch kit chassis. Model will be closed cab pickup with fenders, so no need to chop up a Deuce frame.
  20. Yeah, but then we could get into an extended cab conversion. Ugh. I think I'll go for a stretched chassis. Best solution all around. Also- I would like to stick with the Tamiya engine. The detail on it is really good.
  21. I was thinking a recessed firewall might take care of it.
  22. My idea was inspired by this: This thing is so cool, I would consider making a real copy. I just don't know about a roadster, though. Maybe the closed cab pickup. Definitely with air conditioning. Hey- I live in Texas. Hey I just noticed it's on Deuce rails. I have only seen that pic on my phone. I think I'll dig out a Duece kit and see where that goes.
  23. I had an idea for a Revell '29 Ford closed cab pickup powered by Tamiya's Jaguar 3.8L inline 6 from the Mk II Saloon. That engine and trans is A LOT longer than the Revell 4-banger. It would need a new chassis, or require stretching the kit chassis. Ugh. I was hoping for a quick and easy build.
