  1. Oh hey- a former employer gave me some signs when they expired. I didn't measure thickness, but I'm guessing .030"-:040". If you want a couple of them, I could go dig them out of the garage. I'd guess they are about 4 times the area of a garage sale sign. I'd have to cut them down to make postage practical. If you're interested, just let me know...and pay postage.
  2. Dale is right about thickness. I bought the .125" to laminate for machining 1/8 scale parts. A dial caliper would be a tremendous help in figuring out what thickness you need. It's also a great tool to have for scratchbuilding.
  3. Those superchargers look terrible. I'd cannibalize a kit before I bought one of those. Can't cost much more, and it leaves you with the rest of the kit for your stash of spare parts. Same problem as the early TDR Offenhauser engine.
  4. If your town is big enough, there may be a plastic supply house (Austin has 2 that I know of). I once got a 4x8 sheet of .125" for something like 35 bucks. No way you could get that price buying sheets of Evergreen.
  5. The rocket LSR?!! That would have been wild! As a kid, I was fascinated with rockets and jets. I remember checking out a book about LSRs in 2nd grade. I checked it out all the time. I thought the Blue Flame and Spirit of America were just the coolest things ever. Years later, I got to see the Blue Flame at a museum in Germany. It was a complete surprise. A German friend had told me about it. He didn't have a very good description, saying it was a blue "record car". I expected to see one of Malcolm Campbell's Bluebirds.
  6. I think I'm jealous. Nice work. Is the finished body made of Chemiwood, or was it a master for parts made of something else?
  7. Can you tell the rest of us, in case anyone else thinks it's a cool idea?
  8. I'm sorry to hear that Lucas had their funk removed.
  9. Toy Zone had their funk removed?
  10. There was a '70s Firebird (built by GM, IIRC) with a Ferrari V-12. Also a Jeep Grand Wagoneer with a Ferrari V-12. Somewhere out there is a T-bucket with a Lamborghini V-12. But yeah man, a super lightweight, maybe even monocoque construction roadster with an aluminum V-8 mounted midship...would be awesome.
  11. Another 1/8 scale Lotus 72D F1 car. A glue bomb, of course, but still, another Cosworth DFV for the stash. I think a mid-engine street car that combines elements of '27 T roadster with early '70s F1 would be wild.
  12. Wow! It looks good to me. Where did you get the blower (kompressor)? Is it from a Muscle Machines diecast car?
  13. The $600 kits are over rated, if you're talking about Pochers. Many of them look like enlarged 1/18 Bburago diecast cars. Detail is soft or overdetailed in areas where it makes no sense (rotating crankshaft). Check online auction sites. I see builtup big deuces all the time. I just got a second chance offer on a glue bomb Lotus 72D F1 car for $135. You'll also see lots of Corvettes, E-type Jaguars, and 1980s Camaros.
  14. I heard that the best ribeyes come from sacred cows. Mmmmmm. Ribeyes.
  15. See if you can find a Nitrogen cylinder; the type carried by HVAC service people and plumbers. Refills are not free, but it holds 3000 psi. I'm a plumber and my employer issued me one, but I have 2 of my own.
  16. Seriously. I pre-ordered a Zoukei-Mura 1/32 Ta152H for $95. I later found out that only the initial issue was that expensive. Eh. Live and learn. It now sells for a lot more than I paid. Check prices of initial issue on ebay. Saying you feel cheated and that Tamiya owes you something sounds a lot like crying. I'm also amazed that so many people agree with you. My 1/12 Lola T70 doesn't have photoetch. I'll live.
  17. I wonder how their pearl pink and lavender would look over that???
  18. As we all know...no one can resist the triple dog dare.
  19. Back in the '90s, a guy offered some phantom funny car bodies. One was a '90-(then) current Mercedes SL. Really cool stuff. I believe he passed away and his stuff is no longer available. I wish I had bought a few of them.
  20. I think it's worthless, based on the resin Ferrari 712 Can-Am car I got from UMi modellwerke. I thought I might actually cry when I opened the box. After letting it sit in the stash for a few years, I decided to throw it away. Having a conscience, I couldn't sleep at night if I had sold it to anyone who thought it could ever be more than a paper weight. I mentioned that to a guy who sells resin kits and he offered me a Fisher 512 Coda Lunga in trade. I made sure he knew what a piece of garbage this kit was. He wanted to make it look like a 712 and sell copies. That was 12 years ago. He apparently gave up on it. Maybe you could donate it to the Model Car Builder's Museum. It is a piece of model car history. You did ask.
  21. A 7.5hp rotary phase converter, so I can convert my residential single-phase power to 3-phase for running machine tools. It's overkill for what I have now (Bridgeport mill, South Bend 7" shaper, & South Bend 8" "Junior" lathe, but I may replace the South Bend stuff with bigger tools one day, and I also want a nice 3-phase grinder. No pics for the moment. I just ordered it over the phone. I can post a pic later tonight when I get home, and more when it arrives. I'm really happy abouy finally getting one of these. I've had the big machine tools for a while but couldn't use them. I have Sherline tools, but it's very easy to run out of room on them, especially when "stacking" accessories on the mill for making big parts like 1/8 scale engines. :-D edit: photo Not much to look at but I am really excited about it.
  22. Maybe you could put a message in a bottle. Probably just as effective as a vague rant on a public forum.
  23. May I mambo dogface to the banana patch? Who the bleep is saurkraut?
  24. Relax, man. A hijack is a post which is off topic for the subject at hand. We're talking about an old model and I "hijacked" the thread by talking about Tamiya 1/32 motorized snap kits. Hijack=take it in a different direction
  25. Another option might be current production snap-together 4x4s made by Tamiya. They are 1/32 and have motors. Lots of different body styles to choose from. I built a Willys Jeep and Mammoth dump truck with my nephew. He had a blast. Sorry for the hijack. I know that's frowned upon. o_O
