  1. You'll get an even better fit if you use Bare Metal Foil instead of tape.
  2. Non-traditional colors? Nah. Those cars were coachbuilt. Any color the owner wanted is accurate. I think it looks great.
  3. I just ran into an old friend with an extra ticket. I ***may**** get to go see it. Before today, I thought of him as "a guy I know".
  4. I like the idea for this thread. I'd like to offer a suggestion, though. How about several threads, each with its own category; such as interior, engine, suspension, wheels & tires, etc.
  5. The Revell 1/24 Tony Foti L.A.P.D. Camaro drag car has the mega-rare (in the real world) Milodon cast aluminum big block Chevy valve covers. AMT's '62 Catalina custom has really nice looking tuck & roll upholstery. The Testors "Vantastic" family of kits have nice looking bucket seats for a modern street rod.
  6. Pile of stinking dog waste? Now there's a scratchbuilding challenge.
  7. Someone is already making resin copies from 3-D printed masters. I have a 1/8 scale '29 Ford Tudor Sedan body made this way. It was made in a "slush" mold, so the inside of the body needs some cleanup...but that is OK with me. It was US $130, including shipping, from Canada. Compare that to $700+ for TDR's printed bodies, and quality time with a grinder doesn't look so bad. Detail on the outside of the body is great, and within reach of the average Joe (or at least closer to being within reach).
  8. Is that the La Jolla? I'm a big fan of Mr. Bradley. I have a lot of old magazines with his sketches. I'm on my phone right now and I'll lose my connection if I click that link, but I hope it has the green '47 Ford convertible that he restyled. It was a cover car for The Rodder's Journal about 15 years ago. Just a work of art.
  9. There's a CTS-V in Austin that's dark silver-grey in satin. Looks awesome. License plate says F-117.
  10. Which is not really a bad thing. Regardless of the reasons why people buy hybrids/electric cars, they are doing the long-term testing to work the bugs out. At the same time, scientists are working on improving the efficiency of batteries. Both of these things could get us a hybrid that costs less and has longer range in the future. Let's not forget that the Volt can run on its gas engine when the battery runs out. Ideal situation: more efficient battery plus a tiny turbodiesel. There are a couple of tiny diesel cars in Europe that get close to 70mpg. Imagine a car that can burn synthetic diesel/propane and get the equivalent of 100+mpg. Manufacturers could build those and exceed CAFE standars while still building ZR-1s, GT500s. CTS-Vs, Vipers, etc. OR- you (and this is "The Royal "You"; i.e. anyone griping) COULD just continue to let Rush Limbaugh do your thinking for you.
  11. He has posted here before. Seems like a good kid. Lane- tell us what subjects you like. Like others have said, many of us old farts have a huge stash and wouldn't mind parting with a kit. I'd send you one, but you gotta promise to have more patience with your dog. (Sue me. I'm a dog lover)
  12. '29 Ford roadster on Deuce rails. It could use any number of Revell engines: Caddy from '49 Merc, dressed-up flathead, Offenhauser from their Midget, new Oldsmobile V-8. It would be great to do that without having to buy 2 or 3 kits.
  13. Nifty! I'll bet you could trade some of those off in the Swap section of this website. That air conditionerr is really impressive.
  14. Where did you get the air conditioner? Is it in the kit or an aftermarket piece? (I'm looking at tiny pics on my cell phone)
  15. Like others said, it's all about how one defines "rat rod". I once saw an early 1930s Tudor Sedan that was lowered so far that the fuel tank wouldn't fit in its normal spot...so it was directly behind the driver's head. I read about a similar car; 4 seats with 4 guys who went to the rod show. It was radically lowered but had no transmission tunnel. The spinning driveshaft was exposed. You can see examples of this kind of thing on hot rod websites in threads about junkers that shouldn't be on the road. The pickup in the OP doesn't meet my definition of "rat rod"; I wouldn't be afraid to ride in it or feel the need to get a tetanus shot before approaching it.
  16. A '29 Roadster body with optional Duvall windshield.
  17. I'm not crazy about the car, but it does have some really popular styling cues seen in 1/1 rods. I would expect it to be a big seller, and that's good for Revell. /sorry, I have no "they shoulda made X" complaints.
  18. You're right, it is different. I made up the part about a 6-year old doubting my BS stories. He believes them. To be fair, he's an innocent child. I'm not going to tell him that watching him play video games is boring because he would not understand. That's because...wait for it...he's six years old. There's no need to hurt a little kid's feelings. The story about my leg is plausible, though. I spent 8 days in the hospital because of my leg and he visited me a couple of times. What I'm getting at here is that it blows my mind that you believe your cousin at all. The fact that anyone would take you seriously is amazing. OH HOW I WISH I could post a link to a medical question on another website. Boy was that one a hoot. The fact that a moderator took it seriously...wow.
  19. My 6-year old nephew wants me to watch him play video games every time I visit. Not play games with him, just watch. He wants to know why my doctor would say I can't climb stairs. It almost seems like he doubts what I say. I once took him and my mom to a Chinese restaurant for lunch. He was feeling kind of cranky and reaaly needed a nap. This about 2 years ago, btw. We got fortune cookies and he was fascinated when mom and I read him our fortunes. I think he doubted me when I read his: "After lunch, Jake will take a nap on Uncle Lee's couch". Seriously- I can't believe this thread has any sincere replies.
  20. Whoa. Mod Tops. That would be SO cool. Someone has to do it, whether Revell or aftermarket.
  21. This kit is freakin' sweet!
  22. ...and dare I say...Denny Terzich's Camaro IS A STREET CAR!!!!!
