You left the "http://" from Photobucket in there.

$199. A few pieces put together on the monocoque. Everything else still sealed in bags, including decals.

If you only knew what I paid. It had a Buy It Now price that makes me believe the seller didn't know what he had.

How to remove tape adhesive?
LDO replied to Ben's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Another vote for Easy Off. I used it to remove woodgrain stickers from an AMT Lincoln Continental. -
A job! I've been out of work for 4 months. I treated myself; I ordered a 1/8 scale fiberglass belly tank (tank only). I'll raid a Big Deuce for its flathead drivetrain and Moon discs.

convert TF engine to a salt-flats engine
LDO replied to fiatboy's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
The only one I know of is AMT's old "Dragray" Corvette funny car. I sent you a PM with a link to one. -
You read the entire thread and never realized it was not going to turn to model cars? Wow.
-
It has already happened. A guy in Australia sells copies on ebay for $85. I believe that was in the article. I went to ebay and he had one listed just a couple of weeks ago.

For All You Photoshop Junkies Out There
LDO replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The only things I can recommend are to give the fins a rear profile similar to the skirts and to scribe a trunk into it. -

I think it looks pretty cool as is. -
convert TF engine to a salt-flats engine

Get a 417 Donovan. They're available with a water jacket. -
I think it will be a combination of many different power sources; solar, wind, poo, etc. Nuclear could gain favor as fossil fuel prices go up.

That's the worst! I'm putting some detail on an old pickup model. I was going off a few pics in old magazines. I found a build thread with lots of pics on a real car site and found out I did some things wrong. ARGH! I think I'll just keep going and save that info for another, more accurate build. I want to finish this thing. I'll live with a couple of incorrect details, knowing that the next one will be better.

Who said anything about 100mpg carburetors?
-
No, it won't. There is no conspiracy to keep everyone in America "grounded". The whole world runs on oil. People need to move about the country...and the planet... in order to make money and pay taxes.

What can I use to remove woodgrain stickers?
LDO replied to LDO's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I didn't have any alcohol and didn't want to go to the store. I tried Easy-Off. The woodgrain turned green instantly. After a couple of hours, I peeled it right off. -
Chemical Ali declares that
LDO replied to Lownslow's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Chemical Ali? Seriously? -
When I posted earlier, I had only read the last message (Jairus's). After I saw your message, I read the whole thread. Wow. A whole lotta wackiness goin' on. There's a lot of oil in sand in North America. One of our fellow posters makes his living off of it. He drives a truck in a Canadian oil field. I am serious about Methane, though. I think it can be a viable fuel, and sourced from human poo. We already have very effective means of collecting it. It's not like we would need to get millions of people to follow cows around with shovels, then burn fuel getting it to a processing plant. Oil will be hard to replace. I think that new fuels will come from a variety of sources; natural gas, methane, diesel from algae, etc. I also think that small diesels have lots of potential. There are already small diesels in Europe that get better mileage than a Prius, and they don't have a battery that visited several continents during manufacture and need to be thrown away one day.
-
How do you know that? How about Methane as an alternate fuel. We can get it from decomposing human waste. Poop is most definitely a renewable resource.

How do I make an arc that is part of a HUGE circle?
LDO replied to LDO's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't know the diameter of the circle, but I can use trial and error to figure it out. I'll go outside tomorrow with a pencil, nail, and string. Thanks.
