  1. I do have a small update, thanks for your interest guys. I finished the lower arms for the four link, and also have the bags finished. Made from cut up ink pen parts.. Here is a test fit of the rear suspension.. And finally, I am far from being able to work on the interior but wanted to test my colors for it. So I painted the front seat flat black, then shot it with a light coat of clear gloss for the "semi-gloss" sheen, then brush painted the tan and red trim with craft acrylic colors.. Steve
  2. Sorry Rick, I didn't have a working camera at the time. Thanks to everone for the great responses.. Steve
  3. Looks perfect! I like the different colors on this one and that engine bay as usuall looks incredible! Steve
  4. 70s Chevy Truck - scratch built 454 ALMS Camaro 1/16 scale - 64 1/2 Mustang
  5. Thanks Brodie! I have the four link suspension started, just some blocks in place where the bags will go, just to get the ride height. Will add the bags and scratch build some shocks out of alluminum. Here is a "stance" mockup, this thing is too big for my photo booth..
  6. I have used the dullcoat over several types of paint with no reaction including enamels, which i believe the rustolium plastic paint is. You should just try it out on a test piece, the dullcoat is the best flat clear in my opinion. Steve
  7. Looks cool so far, those rims and tires will look awesome on there! Once you get them the size you want. The silver you used for the engine is perfect. I think testors "dullcoat" would be great to flatten out that blue.. Is that "Windsor" in the background? Steve
  8. Scratch building a new sub frame that will still fit the original gas tank. I'll be using the kit axle but making my own four link, thinking about having air bags for all of the suspension, not sure where I'll source the bags but sure I can come up with something. here is the new frame attached..
  9. Thanks guys. Here is some progress. Cutting out the rear section of the chassis to make room for the huge new tires.
  10. I found a large toy at wally world that is pretty cheezy with all of the Dub sounds and ###### but thought that the wheels would be nice for this project. All four wheels and tires were the same size and I wanted bigs n littles so I cut the centers out of two of them, trimmed down the spokes, made some new smaller sleeves out of a thick vitamin pill bottle, glued the spokes to the new outer rims then cut away strips and sections of the rubber to get them to fit the smaller sleeves. All of the lug nuts were out of scale and tiny so I drilled them out and added new ones made from hex rod. After stripping all of the chrome, adding valve stems and painting them here are the results.
  11. Dug this out of the basement after sitting disassembled for years, collecting dust. Originally built in the mid 90s, had some notion that having all of the trim the body color was cool, I guess it was cool for the era, but not for a long time since. It took a dive many years ago and was busted up pretty good. I've wanted to redo it for some time but wanted modern wheels, and have not found anything until recently. This was the state of everything as I layed it out to plan the project Here is what I'm going for.. Thanks for looking in. Steve
  12. I'd like to post the crown jewell of my collection but, I haven't built it yet... Steve
  13. Unreal. Don't forget the anti-sieze.. Steve
  14. Nice collection Ray, any photos available of ones you have built up? Also, just curious, being such a die hard cobra fanatic, what do you think of the redesigned cobra Ford did in 04? I thought it was very cool and have often thought of scratch building a scale replica of it. Steve
  15. Thanks Ian, I didn't actually bend the plastic, it is just a seperate peice along the side with curves cut in to it to make it look stretched. Then sanded smooth to blend with the cover peice. Yep the railing hopefully keeps the kids from playing underneath Shane. Thanks for your comments. Steve
  16. Thanks, this was a fun project. Yea that would be the ultimate Titanic model at this scale, I'll be finishing it up in oh, say 10 years or so.. I have several Titanic books with original photos from the shipyard to fitting out and even some of the lifeboats in NY after the disaster. Thanks Steve
  17. Don't have a Titanic but how about a Titanic lifeboat? I built this several years ago. It's completely from scratch. The boat itself is plaster, started with a big slug and carved it in to shape. The cover is sheet styrene, as are the davits, pulleys etc. Base is I think some sort of laminent. Not sure what scale it would be, the boat is about 71/2 inches long. Questions, comments, welcome.. Steve
  18. Thanks Joe, no this engine was built from scratch, the only kit pieces in it are the tranny, the water pump and the ignition coils. The engine from the die cast was really basic, not much usable except for the air cleaner. I might use it in a future project. Steve
  19. Looking cool so far, I don't see whats so wrong with the Jada vette. Those rims and tires look awesome under there. Steve
  20. Thanks everyone for the great comments. The exhaust is made from solder and the tips are aluminum tube. Looks like this thread got moved, it was in the "under glass" section. I guess it's not considered a "model" since it is half die cast. Oh well, it was just as fun and rewarding to build as any plastic kit I've put together. Steve
  21. And here is what this started life as, a "Soreal" die cast 4x4..
  22. Here is another project just finished, a 73-77 Chevy fleet side, G-machine/pro-touring style. Scratch built frame, suspension and engine. Aoshima wheels in Pegasus sleeves, wagon rod rear tires. Scratch built rotors and calipers. Rustoleum black laquer, testors one coat clear. All comments welcome. More photos here.. http://www.ravenart-...truck_g-machine Steve
  23. The state I reside in spelled backwards, avatar is just one of my build shots. Steve
