Built using the original issue Revell kit; completed about three years ago. Many hours and over 180 fabricated, aftermarket or parts box parts were added to the kits components. Seriously- I made a list. http:// http:// http:// http:// http:// Your comments are welcome. Thanks for looking.

Thanks for all the compliments . Russ, this is the Revell kit with the scissor doors. I'm not a big fan of the doors, but it was the only kit available at the time. I have since accumulated three or four of the Lincoln Mint/Testors/Lindberg Chargers with plans for each; one may be a two-door.

Saturday with my Grandson
johnbuzzed replied to Ramfins59's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Enjoy your time together with him, Rich. Build all those kits and don't forget to play with them! We were up on the Island last week for Shan's MBA graduation and I made sure to spend some quality time with both grandchildren, including wiffle ball, mini golf, a few spins in the rental Camaro and Godzilla 3D with Ayden (Emmie took Alyssa to the Wizard of Oz flick). Those days went by way too fast... -
This is a pretty basic kit and relatively easy to assemble, but pay attention to the doors- they do operate, swinging out and up. Check out the hinges, make sure they are free of any flash. If I remember correctly, there are screws involved in the assembly. Things might go smoother if you drive the screws in their locations, then remove them, prior to actually assembling the parts with the screws at those locations. The trunk will stay open and it will close with no problem; just clean up the hinge hardware before assembly as you did with the doors. The hood will not stay up; you'll need to make a prop rod as I did. The kit decals don't give you a lot of time to work with them, so keep the water handy and have them cut as close as possible to the image before you attempt to apply them. Once down, they're very reluctant to move or slide. Have fun with your build- let's see it when it's done. Thanks to all for the compliments .

1990 lx mustang street car finished! 8/1/14
johnbuzzed replied to Dragfreak's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I think the stance looks good; it has an old-school street machine attitude. Some might not like it because it isn't 100% prototypical of today's drag cars. The cage came out nice. Being a purist, I would stick with Ford power, but it's your model and you can do it however you want. That's what it's all about. -
From the original flat-box issue, ca 2006. Started in NY in 2007, finished in NC in 2009. A little multi-color flock, some photoetched hardware and a couple of parts box decals were added, as were blue dots. The kit's wheels were tinted by using Future with a few drops of food coloring added. Tamiya Bright Red (I think) was polished and waxed. Comments are always welcome. http:// http:// http:// http:// http://

This is something that kept me busy for a while when I was unemployed. It's the Model King reissue on an AMT/Ertl Ram dually. I added some stuff to the interior, including two throw-rugs that were fabricated one thread at a time. I used old Microscale wood-grain decals on the cabinetry. The ladder was fabricated from aluminum tubing and coffee stirrers; the roof platform is also made from coffee stirrers. The bike was my last build on LI some five years ago. The trailer is the bed from the Lindberg '34 Ford pickup with a rudimentary frame; with wheels and tires from my parts box. The other stuff is from my parts box. If I had to build another one, I would use a piece of glass as a plate to get the sides, etc, square- the top is removable, but not without a lot of grimacing. Comments are welcome.

Really, really nice clean build and great color combination. Two questions: which kit did you build, and- as previously asked- what colors did you use for the interior?

I had a '73 Challenger, 318 2-bbl with a "Lynx" air cleaner, with Cyclone headers and turbo mufflers- no crossover pipe- and the exhaust ended just after the rear pan with custom-bent stainless steel tips. The car sounded nice while I drove it, but I never heard it above idle outside the car(besides tuning) until the new owner drove it away... I do miss that car. I was able to control the turbo whistle in my Spirit by manipulating the gas pedal just the right amount. Pretty neat, especially driving alongside a median divider. Didn't have much of an exhaust note, though. But the big one that floats my boat is the exhaust note of the ("old") Sprint Cup car in which I drove ten laps at Charlotte. Soooooo cool, sooooo loud, even with the helmet. Well worth the price of admission

Looks good- great color combination and the wheels look like they belong there. -
Really nice work; very basic, clean and simple. I'd be proud to have that on my shelf.

I guess he's speaking his mind, as we do in this forum. Perhaps he's irked because he didn't see post after post after post of lavish praise for his work. -
There are several full-size, mid-late '60's Fords and Chevys available. I there a possibility of a full-size Mopar of that vintage?
-
Yep, total evolution

Looks like something Monogram might have offered in the late '60s- early '70s. -

Where's the Buzz? New tool Hyundai!
johnbuzzed replied to Erik Smith's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Actually, Hyundai has been doing quite well, quality-wise, for many years. And like many cars sold by foreign companies, a lot of the assembly is done here in the US., so some of the $$$ does stay here. We got our first Sonata because at least 7 of our neighbors back on LI owned them and we never heard any complaints about them, nor did we ever see them towed away, nor gone missing while being serviced. The only reason we gave up our first Sonata is that the lease was up. We are on our second Sonata now. If you want to beat up on anybody, thank all of those politicians who allowed so many foreign manufacturers to sell here, and thank those automotive execs in Detroit to allow so many PsOS to be manufactured by the US automakers for too long. Basically, they were gas-guzzlers that should have been stamped with an expiration date. They might have looked good, they might have been fast as all get-out, but how long did they last? -
Might Moebius consider 1/24 or 1/25 scale military vehicle? A Vietnam era Deuce-and-a-half would be really nice... as would a late '40's Dodge Power Wagon.

I'm interested since I drive a Hyundai, but I'd like to see a little more about the kit. I'd really like to see a Genesis coupe.
