Maybe it's because the audience appeal/demographics involved with those movies is not of the model-building variety? I might have seen parts of the first movie; I sure as heck wouldn't buy any of the kits that have been produced and sincerely doubt that I would buy any that might be released in the future. In my opinion, there are many more "historical" movie cars that should be produced in styrene (not including any of the DOH kits).

Round2 models just being mean

Yep, what he said! -
Don Carlton Pro Stock Colt rework
johnbuzzed replied to Plasticfanatic's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Yeah, I second the idea of a resin Colt. They made mean and nasty little Pro Stocks and I would love to have one in my "collection". I look forward to seeing this one finished. I had a '76 Colt GT back when it was new for a few years. It was an inline four, but I'm pretty sure it had a cross-flow head with hemispherical combustion chambers. What a pi$$er to drive; I beat the BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH out of that car. Hey, I was 21 ! -
Sealing Testors Metalizers
johnbuzzed replied to johnbuzzed's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That's the same experience that I've had with the sealer. I have used Dullcote over Metalizer to get a different effect/texture and it looks good, but I don't want a glossy, painted-on metal look, especially for Titanium . -
Sealing Testors Metalizers
johnbuzzed replied to johnbuzzed's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Future floor finish, perhaps? -
That foil is applied to a pre-painted kit. What looks like residue might have been caused by masking at the factory.

That's cheaper than the cost of a sheet of BMF, and aluminum foil of lesser quality should be cheap, too. Maybe together, they might add up to the cost of one sheet, for a much larger quantity. I gotta try this method.

For those who use Testors Metalizers: What do you use to seal and protect the Metalizer that will neither dull the finish nor give it a way-too-glossy shine?

Chrome parts on Pro Street rods?
johnbuzzed replied to fseva's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Remember, they don't have to be "chrome". You can strip them and use Testors Metallizer- buffing aluminum or stainless steel would be my thoughts- or, Alclad, if you have an airbrush. -
Cal-Look Bug - Back Again! 2015.5.20
johnbuzzed replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in WIP: Model Cars
That looks neat- should be a real head-turner when it's done. -
Being alert, paying attention, no distractions, etc, is all well and good. Until some yutz runs a red light or a stop sign or crosses the divider or drives the wrong way, into oncoming traffic. Those neat electronic gizmos won't help any in those circumstances, but all of the basic safety items- crumple zones, airbags and seat belts, collapsible columns, etc- which we take for granted might just save one's life in such a situation. In my opinion, anyone who gets behind the wheel without buckling up- the most basic safety precaution we, as drivers, have- is not too bright; perhaps, society should allow the gene pool to be culled in such a manner. Such a blase attitude killed Dale Earnhardt.

Very cool!

So, Rich sent me an e-mail, to let me know that my '06 Mustang was in the Model Cars Magazine Contest Issue. I hit the closest hobby shop that sells the magazine as soon as I could. They just received their shipment and the mag wasn't even on the rack yet, so I got the first one. Yep, there was the Mustang, and when I got home, I found my twenty-plus- year-old beater Nova on another page, from another contest. Cool! Of course, I took the magazine out to “read” on our front porch, to enjoy with a glass of wine. The mag and my wine glass were on a table that we share, which is between our chairs on the porch. Then, my wife got up from her chair... let's just say that the magazine goes real well with a nice California merlot. Bummer . The damage looked worse than it actually is, and I'm not gonna go get another copy. That's life, and there's some kind of lesson there. One day I'll figure it out.

1/25 Revell Ford Del Rio Ranch Wagon 2'n'1
johnbuzzed replied to Matt T.'s topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
That might not work too bad. It would push what's possibly the warmest air in the interior around- that above the dashboard, pouring in and beating down relentlessly- as opposed to keeping kind of a hot air pocket slowly oozing around. I wonder why there are no vents on the package shelf to do the same...Then again, I could be wrong about that as I have absolutely no HVAC experience. But, I do know that the A/C in my Hyundai kicks in when the defroster is on to de-humidify the interior air a bit. That works well. As it is, I am looking forward to this wagon- could make a nice fictitious Jr Stocker from the mid-late '60s. -
Very cool, very nice. I would be proud to have that on my shelf.

Must have been the steroids. -
I like the build in the original post, too. Good idea to use the Chevelle chassis under the Buick. Looks good.

Cool. I just recently re-re-re-read that issue of the other magazine and I remember that build.
