  1. Thanks, Joe. I have always used flock in the past, but this first use of embossing powder has made me a convert, You should give it a try; it's easy.
  2. My AMT kit has languished in the box for a while and likely will for a while more, but it will, eventually, be built,, painted one of the four Taimya silvers, box stock. While I probably won't get one, I do very much appreciate the Tamiya kit as the car is one of my favorite classic sports cars- the other being a Jag E-type. Now, if Tamiya would do one of them...
  3. Thanks for the compliments. I did add two small, round speakers to the dashboard top and there is a key, on a keyring, in the ignition switch. I'll put up pix when I take more. I can now put the interior aside and get to the body. Then, the chassis, and the engine comes last- still working out some of those details in my head.
  4. Please, do a comparison! Besides an interesting subject, your articles are the first things I actually "read" (not just look at the pictures) in any of the magazines.
  5. Yep, that is indeed looking nice. The silver looks good; the overall effect looks kinda like a luxo-racer. I'll keep watching this one.
  6. Heck, as long as we're on the expensive indulgence thing and if we could afford it, I would get both.
  7. If I remember correctly, the placement of those brake and fuel lines was another goof on Monogram's part. I think it's a mirror image of the real car and while the fix might not be difficult, it would be time consuming. I left it alone on my two previous builds but I will be correcting it on my next. Anyway, you're doing a nice job on this rebuild. I'll be following.
  8. Very, very nice. If that second picture was angled up just a bit, on a different surface, it could pass for the real thing. Really nice.
  9. Thank you, Bill.
  10. Can someone advise how to "update" a topic? I just added some pictures to an on the workbench topic that I started last summer , and I'd like to let it be known that it has been updated. Thanks.
  11. And, two more. Should I add small, round speakers to the top of the dash? ">http:// ">http://http://s889.photobucket.com/user/jbuzz710/media/1968%20Road%20Runner/CAM00287-1.jpg.html'> This is the first time that I used embossing powder instead of flock. I believe I am officially a convert.
  12. Yes, it has been a while, but I have been S-L-O-W-L-Y working on this. Comments and critiques are welcome. http:// http:// http:// http://
  13. To me, a "sports sedan" would be a BMW, Audi, Infiniti, et al. Otherwise, a pillarless four-door = a "four door hardtop".
  14. Bowie= "glam rock" (at least, in my opinion).
  15. Use of the Slant Six is a distinct possibility. Maybe even with a header. The one problem that I see is that the distributor cap is so tiny, I won't be able to drill it for wires and there is just so much room under that hood, screaming for the simple early '60s details.
  16. Actually, Tom, I have seen that around a few times over the past three years. This is the first chance I had to get good pictures. I know that one of the Mint companies made two versions, but I would rather spend a little less, and have one or more in plastic.
  17. At the Hope it Don't Snow show: Lindberg Dodge 330, with the Slant Six and 383. Ideas have been floating around in my head since I bought it.
  18. Well, technically, this wasn't on a road, but... http:// http:// http:// http:// Definitely would be nice to have one in a styrene kit... are you listening, Moebius?
  19. Believe me, bad personal hygiene is not limited to those who build models, I will attest to that. I face it every day at work and I have no idea if the offenders realize the situation. Just the other day at a show, I saw a large fellow, lap full of kits, being pushed in a wheelchair by a woman who was maybe half his mass. Both were seniors. I have difficulty grasping that situation, but we are all free to enjoy whatever pursuits we desire, no matter the cost.
  20. It seems like interest in NASCAR overall has been dwindling, too. From what I have heard, some 41,000 (yep, forty-one thousand) seats will be removed from Charlotte Motor Speedway. That's a lot of missing butts; ergo, a lot of missing bucks. And, the Hall of Fame, just "down the road" in Charlotte, has been having financial issues. I don't pretend to know all the reasons, I can only speculate. But, when the reigning champion is a person who will push another driver into a fight situation, then run away, that doesn't help the sport. I don't subscribe to the "it's so expensive to go to a race" camp because it costs a lot to attend ANY type of sporting event. But, that's just my two cents.
  21. Wow, Really, really nice; so clean and smooth.
  22. Really nice build; very clean and simple- not too complex.
  23. Thanks, gentlemen. Yeah, they're old but all of my "newer" stuff has been around down here, so let's see how this stuff does. Maybe by this summer, I'll have a few more projects completed.
  24. Probably not as much as you think, and as more people do it, the cost goes down. I'm guessing that some of the more "conventional" street machines or rods (or whatever genre) can total up to just about as much, maybe even more. The point is, it has been and can be done.
