  1. I started working on my Revell '69 Chevelle engine yesterday. The instructions specify orange in the American version and a mixture of red and orange in the German version. Both descriptions, and also internet photos, have nothing to do with my bottle of Model Master chevy engine red that has been lying on the shelf for years now. Did Cheverolet change the engine colour shades over the year? I know they used to have blue engine (straight six?), but I am talking about their red engines.
  2. I tried two brands of self adhesive chrome tapes over the weekend. I don't know what they are originally intended for. I guess HVAC duct tapes. One is made by 3M and the other is a no name brand from the cheap stuff store. Both look good, and probably better that BMF. The down side(s) are they adhere strongly to the surface, this impossible to use with painted bodies. They are too stiff and require high pressure to trim. The no name tape was slightly better but still useless as a modelling material, at least as a replacement for BMF in the scale car world. Maybe good for large scale aircraft models but definitely not for 1/24 window trim. Conclusion: I have to stay with BMF. The photograph bellow compares BMF (right) to chrome tape (left).
  3. The decals and BMF work are finished. Ready for a clear coat.
  4. Hesitated a long time about the interior. Finally, I decided to an interior colour matching the exterior. The result is not bad except: 1- I sprayed plastic parts (dash, center console....etc) dark grey first to give it a dull look. It didn't work. 2- I wanted a darker interior than the exterior. I got the opposite.
  5. What about hasegawa's mirror finish?
  6. They are already wrinkled on the backing paper
  7. They are already wrinkled on the backing paper
  8. I am fed up with the wrinkles and non smooth finish of BMF. Are there any alternatives? No chrome pens, no Alclad please.
  9. I was torn between white/tan interior or a colour matching the exterior, say, a dull, grayesh shade of the exterior. I guess I wil apply light tan or cream colour.
  10. Dear all, I had some leftover mixed tone Tamiya acrylic paint. I tried to try again the colour mixing story. Finally, I ended up with metallic orange. Although I like it as a period representative colour, I couldn't find a single Chevelle in an even close shade. As it is always with this hobby: we live and learn, and try to make the next model better. Regards
  11. If you have access to a CAD program you can import the scripts and convert them to a solid
  12. One my earliest attempts in 3D printing. I do not know why I forgot about it although it was fairly successful. Each rim consists of two different parts for easy and accurate painting. Low aspect ratio tires with exact dimensions. The tread pattern is generic but matches the avant grade image of the car nicely. Ideally, I would print the tire in rubber, or use the printed part to create a soft silicon duplicate. I hope you like it. Regards
  13. This back to normal conversion is a very interesting accomplishment that deserves a detailed WIP.
  14. The attic is too cold right now to print. I have been busy building a heated cabinet. I hope I can print soon.
  15. Up to 100 parts if I remember correctly.
  16. We have any impala from 1958 to 1967, and 1970, but not 1968 or 1969, unless you have a fortune you want to spend. It is a shame actually that Revell stopped the impala line after making so many models of this decade. Hopefully Moebius or galaxie (if they still exist) will see the light.
  17. Not bad for a 38 part kit. Finished in model master a kind of candy yellow and clear from the spray can. The interior is finished with cheap artist acrylic mix of sienna and white.
  18. And after a break of two months, here she is:
  19. Yes I noticed. Either he sold it already or he noticed I am bringing the issue to modelling forums. I noticed also the description changed to used.
  20. Nothing can be meaner than selling other's creation offered free of charge. I have very good reasons to suspect that these wheels are mine. Although I explicitly stated they shouldn't be sold, someone from Poland is selling them on eBay without even a permission to do so. Apparently, the only thing I can do is to report the item to eBay hoping it will be removed. Any other suggestions? https://www.ebay.at/itm/204201543205?hash=item2f8b5c4625:g:7swAAOSwj5Jjr-VP&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAsJ239X%2FYMyfJinnbl4wPKKI8YC7DrN2AvZXEQyqeQnX57ARFQo9%2FHHdzoqJuYUOrDIFdeguOSsHU3WIG2MzeXHjPVK1AzsPeGNSJUgpj3hXrfEf1usqmtNWAHeshM0HUKj9O8DEKd3FJrcAnnTOth6TttL4R7WF56HX6ddzvq9WlueCTffk0zOaadizlaIkZqOpXHYKV1GaASiVTRo1kECRrJgVKhiOCFaUwSAH57CJA%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR9LwxeKyYQ Regards Walid
  21. Did I read correctly? 1:24??
  22. Absolutely not my cup of tea. I wish Tamiya made a 280SL or a decent Jaguar e-type instead. A later (and correct) version would have been nice.
  23. It is finally completed and uploaded.... THE WAGON IS NOT MINE. IT IS THERE FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY
  24. Oven cleaner never worked with me as paint remover. IPA worked sometimes, sometimes not. Brake fluid has been always my first choice. However, it did not affect the paint at all when I tried to strip Revell's BMW Z3 prepainted kit several years ago.
  25. Did it work with AMT/Revell prepainted kits?
