  1. A few years ago I bought a couple of the original 1960 and 1963 kits thinking we'd never see them issued again. I don't need any more of them, but I buy them to encourage Round 2 to continue this good work!
  2. Thanks for the info, I wondered if the dual axles were an option or if someone had parts bashed it. I have the vague idea of turning the trailer into a hauler for a Dakar style Porsche 911. I turned a Welly diecast Cayenne into an offroad truck and it needs a load to pull behind it. The trailer is currently in Purple Cleaner for paint removal. The black paint was surprisingly smooth for brush paint. I suspect it might have been Pactra as their paint always seemed to go on smoother than Testor's.
  3. Not sure how safe it would be, but you could add metal straps and gas caps and make them extra fuel cells!
  4. I bought 3 of the Porsche tractor and I have a couple of this, now I wish they'd do a couple of American tractors. My father in law has a nice 9N Ford sitting under his carport if they want to use it for photos.
  5. Just an update: I found and bought one of these trailers off eBay. It just came in. I wonder if they did a variant as this one has four wheels on a pivoting axle. It was missing the ramps, but or the price I couldn't pass it up!
  6. Fia is having a lazy Saturday!
  7. You might even add more power points for all the electronic gear a Cannonballer needs to outwit traffic and cops!
  8. I got the decals from SpotModel, but I've also did a cut and paste method that works too. I found a clear picture of the logo I wanted, copied into Word to size it and then made many more of them. Then I printed them onto white decal paper.
  9. My son ordered this Yakisoba truck kit for me for Father's Day!
  10. I forgot about it, but Dodge Mexico also had their version. Here is the 98-2000 something Ramcharger.
  11. I love these trucks and am glad to see someone giving them love!
  12. I've noticed that the trucks built down there vary a lot in quality of execution. Some are better thought out than others. You might sand the ribs off the van to start. That way you could narrow it to fit the truck and then add the ribs back later with strip stock. Using the camper special truck might work in that it has a short length after the wheel wells. With that and shortening the bed in front of the wheels a little, I think the proportions would look good. I also wonder if the van's chassis might work under the truck. Monogram's F-250 extra cab might also be a starting point. I'm tied up in too many projects to even try one of these right now, but if you go on with yours, I'll anxiously follow along.
  13. The MPC Pinto Wagon that was reissued a few years ago has the front end and bumpers you need. Don't know if it will need adjustment, but should work. I'm not sure if they changed the taillights for the 79 Pinto, though.
  14. I'm heading to the store for a lottery ticket now! Who knows, someone has to win that Powerball. lol
  15. A few years ago I bought a hatchback and a wagon Pinto with the idea of turning them into early 70s versions. I found a conversion to turn the slantnose Pintos into the early small bumper version. I thought I bookmarked it but never followed up. Two computers later, I lost the bookmark and can find only a couple of resin full kits. Does this conversion exist?
  16. They are more of the fit the box scale, and their proportions tend to be cartoonish. Some are decent, but a lot are really odd. I bought a few to fill gaps in my collection, but ended up hating them. I measured a couple that the length was about 1/24th and the width was closer to 1/22nd. The wheels and wheelwells were around 1/20th.
  17. Nothing in it for me. I just looked and I have 2 of the original issue flare side. three of the Lightning and a couple of the long bed snap kit. Some still have their Toy-R-Us price stickers.
  18. The type of soft plastic used in a lot of tires does tend to react with the styrene of wheels. Frustratingly, it doesn't seem to do it consistently. I recently found a couple of old builds from the 90s. One was the snap Revell Acura NSX and the other was their Viper kit. Both were built around the same time in the same way and it looks like they used the same tires as the Lamborghini Diablo kit I also built at that time. Only the NSX' tires seem to have attacked the wheels.
  19. I like the Singer theme! One of my, "If I won the lottery" ideas would be to start a company that does to other cars what Singer does to Porsches. Edit: This idea reminded me of https://www.icon4x4.com/ . They redo cars and trucks in a lot of ways that are similar to Singer. I'm particularly fond of their 'Derelict' line in which they take old cars of all sorts and keep the patina on the outside but use a modern chassis and a hand-stitched interior.
  20. There hasn't been a Bronco II or same era Ranger kit made. You may find one as a printable, but that's it. If you want to do a conversion, you might use one of the diecast 1/24 Maisto Explorers as a start. You can find those on eBay fairly often at a decent price. https://www.ebay.com/itm/126491368815?itmmeta=01HZZ41SKM0HVBB1JKSPR6N1BC&hash=item1d73791d6f:g:V7AAAOSwDV1mS2vi&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8JD04o53Dg4iKIdgJ3wmfqkjc1B5sZVSgDPOT02TakJfzDhEVboDj8lAuoSUyW3dxRVW70zMbNqMTZ3eD%2FOHP9p%2F5v5uie8J1YQum11vXRrGA4rkSLehuOWiu19hs%2FJimR%2B%2BuLDsRlQQRnlIjKrbkzRwa7aZa4xNYaij2teg8db616aFucxy6YA8zcWSH6qmCsAlWtoqLxmrggS64W3w17DHrjsyo0W6I6XAhfyVrqaS30t2%2FRYoj74xkttmbQjVsHvSGRyKvrhm0I2zujVixnPl6WzI8IJP8w0kn2Eas%2BHs%2BVYjx%2BWWrN2CVruojLqmNg%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR4Kah-T_Yw
  21. In a couple months, we are going to be in Orlando and then in Miami and Key West for a few days. I've googled hobby shops in those areas, but they mostly seem to be R/C oriented. Does anyone have a favorite shop to recommend, maybe one that doesn't get the attention it deserves? I can't really see making the effort to shop at a Florida Hobby Lobby over a Texas one. lol
  22. I've got the truckster about ready to assemble, but I'm stuck on wheel choice. Here's the two most likely candidates so far. The first is a set of Porsche GT3 wheels and tires, good for high speed driving. The second is a set of steelies on high performance tires. I like the Porsches but they might be too big for the truck and the steelies may be too small. Can't decide yet.
