  1. Shoot outdoors when possible. Simple works great too. Some PVC pipe and a white sheet draped over it.And a tripod.
  2. I stuff (carefully) tissue paper into the larger full bodied cars that I have stored. Also resist the urge to cut out any window flash until you are going to make a effort to finish the build in a short span of time. Beyond that, send them to me! I'll take very good care of them
  3. The work looks great, and comung from a photographic klutz, try a white background?
  4. Terry, your talented enough to scratch that.Use some ribbed evergreen, punch out a round disc from styrene and steal the water pump ears from some other FC. When done cast several and you'll have a lifetime supply.
  5. If someone said to me it's "quarter scale" without seeing the model,I'd assume it's a HUGE model one-fourth the size of what it is representing. If they said quarter- inch scale,I'd know it was 1/48th.
  6. My suggestion for those of you where shipping is a problem would be to take pictures or drawing with dimensions of some booths you like and shop some local HVAC shops that do tin work and see what they quote. My booth looks like that is where it was made,or maybe a tinsmith made it. Then all you need is a good motor from Graingers. One other comment. While I like mine,if I get another it will definately be a downdraft type .
  7. There was an article a few years back that the early versions of the OUTLAW had green decals and were updated when re-issued in that kit and a few others. I don't remember the issue numbers . I think the article was in CMM!
  8. That it is and the navigate was not intended as anything negative. It also took me a while to navi this board too. Some of you had computers in grade school 'ya know In my high school years having a CALCULATOR was not allowed!
  9. Thanks for that. The one on the HAMB forum shows where I'm at this AM. I was wondering what to do with that trunk! I don't know if that's possible with plastic, maybe with some putty. That looks GOOOD
  10. I don't think any of the spray booths are "rated" or intended to exhaust the fumes and fog from a spray can. They are IMHO meant to be used with an airbrush. The over spray from an airbrush (and fumes) are small compared to a spray can. I have a huge spray booth made by Northcoast hobbies and it has enough power to exhaust any spray from an airbrush, but not a spraycan.
  11. I second the plastic rod.All the other materials will work too.Solid wire solder is good for headers .
  12. WOW! I remember joining there in 4/2011 and making one introductory post. THAT is one tough board to navigate!
  13. The fastback (sweptline?) model Thanks and Merry Christmas
  14. Why not try it? If that's holding back the finishing of the build, you have nothing to lose ,and if that ruins the tires you can always ask for another set here. Whenevr I get a stash of old tires they go into a bath of super clean for awhile. They come out sparkling.
  15. Super nice build. How about scratch building the fitted luggage for the container in the trunk.?
  16. I thought the OUTLAW was pearl white. Are you going to do the scallops ?
  17. I don't usually wear a mask, just try and keep adequate ventilation. You might want to try Magic- Sculpt two part putty. I have been using it lately and for big jobs it's hard to beat. Sands easily and can be drilled and sculpted like no polyester putty. I still use polyester putty of the two -part type, but I have no brand loyalty, just whatever the paint shop has on special.
  18. I have 5 or six airbrushes. Paashe ,badger,Iwata etc. they are like cars to me,in that they all start, run, get you from point A to B . some do it better, some look prettier than others and may last longer.BUT they are ALL better than a ###### spray can,Even the Badger 350. That was an insightful tutorial you have and any chance you could mass produce those neat little airbrush holders.
  19. Hi Steve.Check out Accura Deep Violet pearl.Looks very close.
  20. Big oops on my part. I should have said 1/16th FE dragsters. Were they all the same? I seem to recall the Wynn's Winder mentioned a Don Long chassis. Thanks for the link though.Interesting read.
  21. Anyone know if the frames in these represent any specific builder such as Fuller,Long etc.? Thanks I should have mentioned the 1/16th scale FED'S
  22. The movie "GODZILLA" I'm sure those were models of cars, buses, and trains the Big guy was stomping on.
