  1. Not a critique , but rather an inquiry : didn't the SS (1973 only) and Laguna S3 models have round gauges ? I could almost swear that the 1973 SS 454 ( "W" engine code ) that I saw a while back had gauges which were similar tot he '70-'72 SS models . That interior is mighty fine ! Those seats are NICE !
  2. Thank you ,Fat Brian , for that detailled reply ! I didn't realise that the so-called "385-Series" (429/460) wasn't a "regular" engine until 1971 ; and it makes sense that the Ford-Edsel series (352 , ad seq.) would be used through 1970 . By the way , I love the way that FoMoCo *used to* i.d. their parts ! It was so easy to recognise what era a part originated from. For example : "A"=1940's , "B"=1950's , "C"=1960's , "D"=1970's , "E"=1980's , and "F"=1990's (through 1998) .
  3. Thanks again for your input , Terry . I'd mentioned the "360" for the same reasons you've stated ; it's a "generic" AMC engine in scale I wonder about the Randall "X" and their 401's... Those *had* to be A/MP ! I also wonder if Randall ever installed 360's in Gremlins ?
  4. Is there an existing kit out there whose engine / transmission could be swapped in-place of that totally incorrect Boss 429 / Top Loader combo ?? What was the original engine in an Interceptor Galaxie ; 429 wedge ? 428 wedge ? 351 Cleveland ?
  5. I am quite looking forward to this kit . Whether or not it's accurate is of little consequence to me ; I just like the body style , and of course , that Rocket engine ! I'm thinking that an early 60's Lowrider is in order , as well as a Gasser .
  6. That makes sense ; I'd figured that the Gremlin was within the same weight class as the Chrysler "A" bodies .
  7. iBorg , Thanks much for your input ! Very helpful . tbusch , I forgot about Super Modified for some reason . Thanks for the idea ! Terry Sumner, Excellent info ! Thanks for providing the power-to-weight rules / classes ! Thanks again to all for your guidance and info ! This will undoubtedly come in handy for others as well
  8. Thanks to both of you ! I'd *figured* that a Modified Production build was possible ; I'm just not sure what sub-class (?) it would run in (e.g. , C/MP , ad seq.)
  9. Carter Thermoquads ?
  10. Excellent colour choice , Mike! Got to love Tamiya's paints , especially their "TS series" ; just lays-down like it's moulding to the body !
  11. I finally got around to buying the AMT 1976 Gremlin and am wanting to build it to represent a homegrown race car ; however , I don't know just what class to build it for . I'm wanting to build it as a Modified Production , but am not sure if it's conducive of that class ; and if it *is* , then what would a 304 / 360 with auto qualify as (e.g. , C/MP , D/MP , or ??? ) . Would a more-realistic approach be to build it as a Super Stock ( SS/KA ?) or a "Stock" ( J/SA ?) car ? Thanks for your replies
  12. Nice detail work , Dominik ! These 2-door "B-Body" Monaco and Fury (and their 4-door counterparts) actually were used by some states' highway patrol agencies in the mid-late 70's ( Montana and Wyoming , and perhaps others ) . They were powered by a 400 (~6.5 litre) engine which put out ~255-to-265 horsepower ; this was backed by a heavy duty automatic ; they were sans emissions controls , as they instead had a computerised engine management system ( "Electronic Lean Burn" ) . Again , nice work !
  13. Thanks for the eye candy , Dominik ! Looks super ! I've been anticipating the release of this kit for some-time (truly , over 20 years !) ; I can hardly wait to see it at my LHS .
  14. Another tasty timepiece , holmes !
  15. Super nice 'scraper ! With the colourscheme you've chosen , reminds me of how popular Earth tones were back when I was a kid ; lots of browns and whatnot on 'riders back in the 70's in Whittier / Los Angeles . Great build , bradah !
  16. WOW !!! That is gorgeous beyond description !! Excellent craftsmanship !!
  17. These photos of engines built by our fellow hobbiests seem to decrust your opinion . However , I absolutely admit that in the 1:1 realm , that 94% or better of Chevy engines seem to follow the same cookie cutter formula (although , the same could be applied to all engines these days ... *yawn* ) . Nice work on those Chevy powerplants , guys !
  18. My word that's beautiful , RepStock ! Makes me want to reach-through the screen and grap it ! Impecciable workmanship , mon frier
  19. Super build , Ramfins59 ! '53 is one of my favourite years of the F-100 (1955 is my fave year) ; and , you did this one justice .with your personal touches . * would really like to see Round2 reissue this gem ! *
  20. Super Gremlin ! That colour is spot-on for a Gremlin ; lots of greens around in the 70's . *as a side note --and it's no reflection on your build whatsoever-- I hope that Round2 doesn't become disgruntled over the brow-beating their reissues have received ! At least these reissues are affordable when compared to their ebay compadres !*
  21. Nice build ! Sucks about that 'A' Pillar ;been there before ! I wish that someone would make a Hurst Dual-Gate shifter / console as a separate item ... could sure use 'em in the 1968 Hemi Dart , or any other 60's-70's Muscle Car !
  22. Repstock - That is GREAT !! Your attention to the details is meticulous ! I can hardly wait for this gem to be released !
  23. I recognise that a couple of members here have recently purchased the reissued Phantom Van , the old AMT 1976 E-150 , and I'm looking for pics of the kit's contents . Any-one have a link to photos of the contents ? I'm pining to get one or more of this kit ! I had it when I was a kid (back when it was new !) and have wanted one for years . Thanks !
  24. Quite nice build , Volvoman ! I'm glad to see that you enjoyed your holiday here in the U.S. ( you guys and your absolute months of time off ! ) . Have you considered finding the elusive Tropicana font online via their website ? You could certainly utilise that as a base for a photocopy ; you could then use the "make your own" decal sets (blank waterslide decal paper for use with an InkJet printer) and print off as many as you desire .
  25. That's probably the cleanest EXP I've seen in probably 20 years ! That MPC even kitted this oddity is an interesting ode to the 80's ! Been wanting to build one of these myself ... Here's another EXP ; one which I'm reminded of every time I've seen one of these cars :
