  1. Wheel wells should have 'blackout' ( Tamiya's NATO Black is a great match ) , as does the radiator core support (about 1/2 - 3/4 of the way-up ) , and sometimes the transmission / driveshaft tunnel. Light or dark grey primer ; sometimes red oxide... sometimes both ! on the floor pans ( underside, et al. ) with varying degrees of body colour along rockers (as seen in the image shared above ). I'm presuming that you're building the 383 or 440 model. If so, here's a couple of more tips for a factory appearance : - 440 models were special order. Their batteries were mounted in the boot. - 383 models had the battery on the left shear panel. Engine colours for the 383 and the 440 was Chrysler Engine Turquoise ( on your own on mixing that -- maybe it's available in your locale ? ). There's other gnat's arse details, but they're mostly irrelevant to the 1/25 scale realm. EDIT : If you're planning to replicate the 426 Hemi version , it's a completely different animal. - ZERO undercoating - Radiused rear wheel arches - No console - Automatics came with the Hurst Dual-Gate shifter & consolette ; 4-speeds have a reverse-lockout lever jutting-off the the right - Non-assist disc brakes - 7 paddle fan with clutch , no shroud - Interior is stripped down ; no window cranks, no radio, no heater, no rear arm rests.
  2. Make a dual-split-window Corvette phantom prototype !
  3. If plating affects the cost - and the retail price - that much, then ixnay on the chrome. Most of Revell's [ et al.] target seems to be folks like us. A good percentage of us will strip plating from the majority of the brightwork anyhow. That being said ; I too noticed the absence of plated parts in this edition , vs. the prior reissue ( 2WD, with camper shell ) .
  4. That does it ! I'm filling up in Bakersfield every time now ( or at least on my way to that $15 Prime Rib in 'Vegas ). Seriously though, how can it be less expansive in Kern County ?
  5. I just may have to get me one of those '32 Tudors ! I remember it as a kid when they were new, but it didn't interest me at that time ( I was 5 years old ). I didn't realise that it's never been reissued ! I just pray to J that it's got good tyres, and not those crummy Rally GT "snow tyres" which AMT kits of that era were cursed with . The '57 Fairlane will likely find its way into my (growing) stash, too. I've got the '56 from its c.2012 reissue - the '57 will compliment it nicely (now, if only someone would make a NEW '58-'59 Fairlane / Ranchero ! )
  6. At the risk of my being "that guy" - how about perusing eBay for a bottle of Testors acrylic Chevy Engine Orange ? I realise that you'd specified Red ; and that there is indeed a difference between Chevy Red and Chevy Orange. If it's the latter you're seeking, I'd recommend the aforementioned Testors acrylic version. no muss, no fuss. I've had a bottle of it for close to 10 years, and it's just as good as the day I first opened it.
  7. My word ! Gas - let alone diesel - hasn't been that cheap in at least 20 years (maybe more). Now, I will bow in deference , in respect to my railroading the original topic.
  8. Not sure as to why the manufacturers don't "simply" go to a 2 or 3 speed rear instead of hacking around with shoving 10 pounds of "BLAH_BLAH" into a 5 pound box ? Of course this wouldn't be possible with wrong-wheel-drive vehicles, only rear-drive setups.
  9. Where is this fantasy land in which fuels that cost less than $5 / gallon ?
  10. I admit that for a long time I was opposed to styrene tyres... then I discovered a way to make them look like rubber : 1.) Primer and then paint the tyres with Tamiya ( my choice here ) Black Rubber ( I use the aerosol delivery type ). 2.) Sand the tread / contact surface , followed by dark grey or black panel line accent Your mileage may vary - paint preferences and whatnot. No dreaded "tyre melt" , either !
  11. I was going to suggest that it receive "Snake-Fu" , as performed by the late, great @Snake45
  12. Autistic Modeler ( Louie, et al. ) used , IIRC, Duplicolor gloss clear over a set of decals for the MPC 1978 Pinto Wagon annual with excellent results. That was a couple of years ago ; wonder if they've held-up ? I'll have to enquire to him. Those MPC decals - at least from the mid-1970's - were garbage when they were new ! Every one of them which I built back then - decals would just disintegrate before your eyes ! And they were NEW (e.g., didn't sit on the shelf for more than a year, tops.). Thanks for the tip ! EDIT At the +/- 10 minute marque ; apparently he used {{gasp}} Rustoleum clear. can't argue with the results !
  13. I'm planning to build it as a phantom DOHC Hemi (from the AMT '70 Super Bee Pro Stock) with Vanke's livery.
  14. Any updates , @rattle can man ? Perhaps I've missed some of your posts. as a side note : ever hear of or read about this fellow ? I'm not suggesting a compare and contrast - just felt compelled to mention him.
  15. Exactly. Doesn't even include optional rims / tyres. The decals are quite nice. Too bad that I can't use the originals ; they're in perfect condition, but are also 54 years old. They're dated "05/1971" on the back !
  16. Thank you for the correction. I'd forgotten that the '72 P/S Duster still had the stock interior ; the others being 1973 models.
  17. Every one of those MPC annual A-bodies are equipped with a console, but with a manual trans. This includes the new 1971 Demon 340 : console with automatic shifter, manual transmission. Exceptions ? The Pro Stock Series Duster kits ; those have stripped down interior buckets (no rear seat, no console). Yes, the 1976-1980 annual F-bodies have a 318 (under-scale) with an automatic. The first new Demon 340 I've been working on ; I used the block / transmission from the 1980 Volaré , with the Demon's heads, etc. Fits like two left-handed gloves, no sweat.
  18. I likewise have an original , unbuilt example. The new iteration is - according to images I've seen - sans console ! YEA ! The interior will provide the correct , 1972 upholstery and dashboard, which will work to convert the '71 Demon to a '72 with zero tedious work.
  19. A Few Sprues Loose offers 3-D printed conversion grilles for the MPC Nova : Chevy Nova SS Rally Concours 3D Printed Grille for 1:25 MPC Model Kit | eBay
  20. 16:20 on 20-4
  21. Any retailer in the U.S. have this available ?
  22. 180-SX ! Hopefully it'll b have a LHD version , and 240-SX livery.
