I'm planning to build it as a phantom DOHC Hemi (from the AMT '70 Super Bee Pro Stock) with Vanke's livery.

tips, tools for one handed builds
1972coronet replied to rattle can man's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Any updates , @rattle can man ? Perhaps I've missed some of your posts. as a side note : ever hear of or read about this fellow ? I'm not suggesting a compare and contrast - just felt compelled to mention him. -
Exactly. Doesn't even include optional rims / tyres. The decals are quite nice. Too bad that I can't use the originals ; they're in perfect condition, but are also 54 years old. They're dated "05/1971" on the back !

Thank you for the correction. I'd forgotten that the '72 P/S Duster still had the stock interior ; the others being 1973 models.

Every one of those MPC annual A-bodies are equipped with a console, but with a manual trans. This includes the new 1971 Demon 340 : console with automatic shifter, manual transmission. Exceptions ? The Pro Stock Series Duster kits ; those have stripped down interior buckets (no rear seat, no console). Yes, the 1976-1980 annual F-bodies have a 318 (under-scale) with an automatic. The first new Demon 340 I've been working on ; I used the block / transmission from the 1980 Volaré , with the Demon's heads, etc. Fits like two left-handed gloves, no sweat.

I likewise have an original , unbuilt example. The new iteration is - according to images I've seen - sans console ! YEA ! The interior will provide the correct , 1972 upholstery and dashboard, which will work to convert the '71 Demon to a '72 with zero tedious work.

how important is the fit?
1972coronet replied to sidcharles's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Cockeyed tillers , and those which either touch the seat or are so far back that even Twiggy would have a hard time fitting - that drives me crazy. Shifters, the same ( though I've seen some in 1:1 which were "unreasonable - think : "Suicide-BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH" on motorcycles ). Insofar as my own builds ; close-enough-to-present-realistically is good enough for me... AMENDMENT : Not sure as to why "SHIFT" got a "BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH" whereas its precursor didn't ? -
13th day of the month ad seq. (e.g., "13-5-2025" vs. "12-5-2025" ) is the easiest giveaway. Today is 31-8-2025 , for an instance.

I'm just guessing here -- perhaps a Retro-Deluxe packaging bearing a strong resemblance to the MPC 1972 annual .

I maxed out my credit cards buying tix to the Swift / Kelce wedding, but I'm sure that I could find some loose change in the fountain at the local nudists' colony. The AMT '69 Chevelle has some nifty , vintage customising parts - likely grab one of those. '76 Nova... why not ? I haven't built one of those rascals in 40 years. The '69 H/O Cutlass ( not to be conflated with a 4-4-2 ) is super nice. I positively love the Hurst Dual-Gate shifter and console ( nice piece to use in any vintage 1967-1972 race car - the '68 Hemi Dart comes to mind ) .

Dumb median design - anyone else see this?

Perhaps the dumbest traffic-flow "improvement" I encountered while travelling through Arizona was those asinine traffic circles on US 60 ! -

Trade school enrollment is way up...
1972coronet replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
There was a lot of discouragement being spread around during the 1980s : cinema, television, advertisements, etc., etc. ( social engineering ? ) . The dead-centre Middle Class was on its deathbed . 99% of the shop classes were D.O.A. before I arrived high school. So, I took drafting classes (just as I did in middle school), as that was the closest I could get to automotive classes. Then CAD came along - at least that was my first time learning of it - and I gave up on drafting, too. Bitter victory here. It's great to see a return to calloused hands and missing teeth and other Blue Collar indicators. On the same note ; I'm still angry that those courses were stripped away during my formative years. -
A reissue with stock option would be boss ! I'm keen on those long bed step sides (or whatever GM's nomenclature was).

There's a handful of YooToob videos I'll watch - subscribe to if the content doesn't irritate me terribly - and , yes, that prattling on about nonsense gets under my (Celtic) skin immediately. As others here have mentioned , I prefer the "ASMR" kind of builds - no jabbering, no ad nauseam instrumental tracks , no rubbish. I can cite Mr. Lin and A4 Garage as two of the best that come to my mind. Mr. Lin provides English subtitles ; A4 does not. Apparently, Louie "Autistic Modeler" was slagged HARD recently. He happens to be one of my favourite content providers. Being Autistic myself, I know how difficult it is to provide content (let alone get though daily requirements - work, etc.). But, yeah... those nut jobs whose performance-content is akin to someone who took psychedelics before starting their gig...

B&M Clutch-Flite transmission
1972coronet replied to R. Thorne's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I seem to remember the B&M 'J' converter from c.1967, 1968 being one of those early , high-stall , "loose" converters. Those were in the '68 Hemi Dart and Barracuda models.
