  1. I can't think of any right off... The AMT 400 is nice, but the lack of a separate oil pan is a turnoff to me. Go with a resin version - let me see if I can turn you on to the place I've bought them from... Here we go : TH 400 Transmission — VCG Resins by Reese
  2. Windscreen and backlight look goofy on the 1:1. Yours is much, much cleaner in execution ! Heck, I remember when you started transforming the Revell 'Cuda - feels like a hundred years ago. You used the roof from the MPC Dodge Monaco, no ? Thanks for the new images !
  3. Oh, absolutely. She mentions them in her writings, too. My mum had (now I have) both Slouching and White Album (1979). She let me read them ( however, her books such as Shogun, Boys from Brasil , Rosemary's Baby, and Roots were off-limits to me... haha) when I was young, and I loved them straight away. I have subsequently purchased "Slouching..." and "White Album" for my collection - I don't want to dig into her original , hardbound copies.
  4. Lifelong resident of southern California ( first 32 years 15 miles east of Downtown L.A. ; past 23 years in southwest Riverside county), and I can tell anyone who's willing to listen that those Los Vientos del Diablo ( Santa Ana Winds, et alia ) have done precisely what Mother Nature directs them to do : blow seeds, soil, etc., etc., around, followed by more rain which pushes those elements into the ground, for longer than we've been here... and will continue to do so long after we're gone. I can't stand the stupid Devil Wind anymore than most residents - allergies go through the roof, sometimes causing a secondary bacterial infection ( i.e., bronchitis... like I'm currently fighting ). But who am I in the grand scheme of things ? I'm simply in the way of Mother Nature. Joan Didion was fond of including the Santa Ana in her writings ( I highly recommend reading her non-fiction works ) . This is from Slouching Towards Bethlehem (1968) : The Santa Anas.pdf
  5. Tamiya Black Panel Accent . I apply it in my own way to grilles, hub caps, etc., etc. ; to wit : Spray a coat of matt / semi-gloss , et alia, to the plated parts. This gives the wash a "tooth" to grab so that it doesn't flow to the absolute bottom , sides, etc. This also permits for more than one application ; its enamel 'oils' also help to 'burnish' the matt clear to a more realistic finish (anodised aluminium, mostly).
  6. To my eye, the parking lamps are the weak point. There's no way to make the kit's grille's parking lamps appear realistic ! Too bad, as this kit features separate back-up lamps - not sure why the parking lamps were "phoned in".
  7. Resin replacement / upgraded part , purchased via A Few Sprues Loose : Few Sprues Loose LLC | eBay Stores
  8. Just as @Mark stated, the 1967-1969 Barracuda annuals (shared tooling between AMT and MPC) had either the 225 six ( "stock" ) or the 426 Hemi ( in non-stock form, with the crossram intake setup ). When the '69 was reissued in c.1988, MPC saw to it to include their 'generic' B/RB engine ( "383" ) , backed with a manual (the originals both had automatics) - dual exhaust was moulded-in dating back to the original '67 (hence the quotes I'd added to "stock" in reference to the 225 six ) . In every case the shear panels (inner fenders, et al.) are incorrect. Should that be a bother, the AMT '71 Duster 340 or the Revell '68-'69 Darts have much better -and correct - engine compartments (with the Revell including the correct big block A-body K-member).
  9. I'd heard that the kit's due out as soon as their press release editor returns from his sabbatical .
  10. Car Wizard is one of my favourite 'programmes'. Been watching his channel for about 5 years or so ; learnt some tricks from him. ( I'm also enjoying his other programme - whose name I can't recall at this moment - which is about aliens and the whatnot ).
  11. Emmy and brother Tao taking turns posing on the ottoman , 13-1-2025
  12. I bought one of these a few years ago, and it's perfect. I simply "jab" the felt tip to release the paint ; put it in a dollar store water colour tray , then use what I need via paint brush. All Makes All Models Parts | PT6202Z | Chrome Dash Trim Refinishing Paint Marker | Classic Industries
  13. 1968 SD-396 convertible ! Just rare enough to seem fictional, the Canadian "Pontiac" Beaumont SD 396 was more like a Chevelle than a GTO | The Online Automotive Marketplace | Hemmings, The World's Largest Collector Car Marketplace
  14. Well, stranger things have happened.
  15. FWIW , I just wait for the kit with what I feel's a reasonable price (including shipping - oftentimes that's at least 50% or more of the kit price !). I have a budget in mind, and stick to it (within a reasonable margin). Most I've paid for a vintage kit was 150$ (with shipping) for a mint MPC '78 C10 - the only year of the 2WD issue.
  16. Hard to imagine / believe these days. One of my friends here ; he's in his twenties , and a real photography fan (he owns a couple of vintage cameras , including a Polaroid ) and he takes photos frequently. Just felt compelled to chime in here with this sidebar .
  17. Sweet ! One of my favourite cars ever : SD-396 ! (Stateside, I'd like a 300 Deluxe with the SS package)
  18. Going with an L-79 by chance ? Definitely following !
  19. Offer rocker an' offer meds happens to describe most of my dating life in the 1990's
  20. I've mentioned these models before, but they're worth mentioning again : 1971-1972 Swinger Special 340. They were built in May '71 and again in May '72 for a couple of western Canada dealerships via special order ; they were batch-built . Here's an FJ6 Green Go example - still with its original owner ! And a GB5 blue '72 , owned by / restored by my friend Cliff (Edmonton)
  21. Dave Alexander - original bassist in The Stooges - is oft forgotten / overlooked as a member of the so-called 27 Club
  22. Just when I think that I'm not the sharpest bulb in the tackle box , I see these fine examples.
  23. Move-out is what Vern Gosdin's family did , which lead to his writing and singing There Must Be Someone I can Turn To
  24. I totally forgot about that engine ! Though its rocker arm covers aren't stock, they're quite unique and are nicely replicated.
