I know what you mean -- those 'Eskimo Kisses' and head butts are delightful. There's just something about those black & white 'farm cats'; Whiskers is a lovely example. My love bug, Tæo, is a black & white farm cat. I've had him for two years; he was a 'little potatoe' when I got him. Do you have other animal companions?

1/25 AMT 1966 Mustang GT -- Original Annual & Modified Reissue
1972coronet replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
One of the most iconic cars in history - world history - is at last being given its propers. I'd lost track of how many of the 1966 coupes I'd built over the last 40+ years; how many of the Monogram 1965-1966 fastbacks I'd built since the first release in 1984, 1985 (hard for me to accept that those Monogram [et al.] kits are almost 40 years old!). Certainly, I'm not alone in hoping for period-correct speed parts for this kit. So many possibilities! Drag, custom, road race, and other factory stock versions.- 216 replies

Revell in Omaha (2022 IPMS Nats)

Same with the Jill Challengers: both were 1970 models -- one a 440 Magnum R/T; the other a 383 two barrel -- but had 1973 front and rear facies (and licence plates). -
Favorite Obscure or Discovered Music Album
1972coronet replied to afx's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
This album (see image) doesn't necessarily qualify as obscure album when one considers it was a million sales release. However, this particular mix -- MONO -- is largely ignored in favour of the (inferior) stereo mix. This track, Daily/Nightly, is one of the earliest uses of the then-new Moog synthesiser; Star Collector is the other Moog-laced track. In my shared opinion, the mono mix beats the stereo edit, and this is one of the finest examples -- that Moog just comes to life in mono! Enjoy! -
Revell 1/16 GM 3rd-Gen kits (1987 GTA Re-release Soon!)
1972coronet replied to Jordan White's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Both the IROC and the GTA were issued in 1986 or 1987; maybe the '1993' refers to the GTA's last year of issue? I had the 1982 and 1983 Camaro kits back in the day. I had lots of fun building them; the only Revell kits I'd even touch back then. From what I'm able to remember, the IROC and GTA aren't without their flaws-in-accuracy -- and concurrently, not without their strong points (the Gatorback tyres were pretty nice, from what I recall... I never built either of these late eighties kits, so I can't attest to that personally). If accuracy is of little to no concern, and one merely desires something that looks the part prima facie, then these'll be perfect. -
1987 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe 1/24 scale Monogram

Lovely T.C. 'Bird! Reminds me of the one (of many) that I built when the kit was new: Testors German Silver Metallic with Testors Primer Grey interior. Nice work! -
"Good" is a value judgement, e.g. "I'm doing good" begs the question of "What kinds of good are you doing?"

Two door sedan [et al.] police cars were quite common until the 1970s. My uncle (retired LASO Homicide Detective) told me that the majority of the Sheriff's Dept. cars were two door sedans (typically with a six banger or a small V8) until c.1970 -- and no A/C until 1972 (except for the sectors in hotter regions - like Lancaster). Even the pursuit cars were two doors -- the fun ones with big engines! Those were used on in-town, county jurisdiction freeways & highways until the CHP took over all freeway patrols and services. -
Mr. Hobby 'Gun Chrome' Paint
1972coronet replied to 1972coronet's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I ended up buying both the Gun Chrome bottle as well as this Mr. Hobby Mr Color SM204 Super Metallic Stainless Steel 2 10ml – Burbank's House of Hobbies . Handling 'friendliness' is/ was a determining factor. While I've had no issues with Molotow nor with the 'Chrome Touch-Up Paint pen (sold through Classic Industries) --the latter being more resistant to handling-- I want to try other paints. That stainless steel (see link) seems promising. -

His attention to details is amazing! His more-recent videos are more in-depth; all of his (handful of) videos are fun to watch. His painting of a 1/24 scale figure is a work of art! -

I've been watching Mr. Lin (see link) builds on YouTube, and am impressed with his skills and builds. One thing I've noticed is the paint he uses (in some builds) for the brightwork Mr. Hobby Mr. Color Lacquer C104 Metallic Gloss Gun Chrome C104 10ml – Burbank's House of Hobbies Has anyone here used this paint? If so, how do you apply it (airbrush or paint brush)? I don't have an airbrush, so that's not really an option for me. I do have a Prevail, but haven't used it yet. Opinions and examples of your work would be appreciated. Thanks. Trim painting starts at ~ 10:20 marque.

I hope that those hood locks are separate pieces. It would appear that they'll be. -
I feel compelled to rescind and retract my earlier assessment of this kit's headlamps. My word, this thing looks so promising! The boiler room alone looks outstanding -- so much detail! I can practically hear that Autolite 715 cfm atomiser sucking-down air! Here's a vintage 1971 road test of the BOSS 351 -- if only they knew. 1971 Ford Mustang Boss 351 (caranddriver.com)

You and me both! Haha! Thankfully it'll be a while before these see the light of day -- especially since I'm going to be dropping +/- $1,000 to repair/replace the A/C compressor, etc., in my 2004 'P71' Crown Vic. -
I see that -- the DLO should slightly swoop-down with the character lines of the quarter-panels-to-door transition (at least from the comparison between the 1:1 and the 'finalised' prototype). The convertible 'origins' are there for sure, as @Chuck Kourouklis mentions. Hopefully it'll be an easy fix (i.e., the quarter windows will still work post-op). Hopefully some judicious filing and sanding will present satisfactory results -- without having to heavily modify the interior section of the same region.

WOW! Still there! That is wild! I love seeing "driver-survivor" cars, still piloted by their original (ostensibly) owner. Reminds me much of a former coworker/friend's 1970 Swinger 340 -- his daily driver from spring 1970 until c.2001. Faded, oxidised green paint; cracked and faded (decal) original tail stripe; 1972-vintage Cragar S/S; and original interior. Gorgeous. edited to reflect the year he started driving it.

Lookin' great, @Six! What powerplant are you going with in the wagon?
-
One of the nicest factory tillers ever! Is that a P.E. spoke set, or did you modify the kit part? I positively love that interior! Great colour choice, and beautifully executed.

There was a similar 1969 model the next street over from where I grew up: strippo 6 banger with 3-on-the-tree! Blue-on-blue, hubcaps, no radio, etc. It had 1970 licence plates (first letter was an 'A'), which indicated that it was sold as a "leftover" (late-1969-build date) model, before the mid-1970 arrival of the 1970 1/2 Camaro. I've likely seen that car you're referring to. On a field trip to Griffith Observatory in 1982 (grade 6), I likely saw it (though it doesn't stand out in me mind at this moment).

Another look - and compared to the photos of the 1:1 - those headlamps do look correct, proportion-wise. -

Other than the 2-in-1 version (Lowrider and custom/street machine) from the last 15-20 years, are those the only wheels included? -

Knock-a-self a pro slick. Better to present the hypothesis before the final tooling is cut -- and for those who know more about 1971-1973 Mustang cosmetics than I do; they can opine and, possibly, clarify. Looks GREAT to my eyes otherwise. And, yes, a potentially great 335-Series engine is a bonus. -

Thanks much for these photos! 1939 Sedan Delivery has the same engine as the 1966 Malibu, which is great in its self. 1971 Olds! Awesome! 1971 BOSS 351 looks great, too (headlamps a little big?)
