All beautiful builds Roger!
-
Great idea. I have so many WIPs started, then I move onto another project, not returning to the topic for quite a while. ( I must stop doing this). It’s so hard to stay with one build, so I have to have at least 15 other going on as well. Your 55 build always seemed to stay fresh on my mind. I remember following it when I first joined the board years ago. If I’m not mistaken, you had it as your profile avatar for a while?

I followed Dave’s instructions in turning it off. Seems I made a mistake. So I tried it again. I think I got it turned off now. Thanks Dave

I thought the board was just fine without the likes, just sayin. Almost all of the notifications I receive are anonymous likes.

Very funny comedian, from Saturday Night Live, stand up and Adam Sandler films. His dry voice made him all the more comical. Pretty sad news. He fought hard.

Sweet. Coming along nice. -
Ok Tom thanks. Man that was a quick reply…

What does it mean when I check my notifications, and it states that “someone reacted” to a post? When I click on that post, there is nothing there from that persons reaction, only the previous content that I’ve already read. Is the some sort of LIKE button being used now? Thanks in advance.

Why I decant Testors Clear Coat
Brutalform replied to Mike 1017's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I have to agree with Peter, that the cans were possibly mislabeled. Pretty sad though, the way quality control really doesn’t exist in some cases anymore. From here on out, I’ll be testing EVERYTHING on some scrap styrene, and not just accepting what it says on the label. -
63 Ford custom 300 pics needed.
Brutalform replied to Brutalform's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks Robert. I’ve used the 60 Starliner engine as a 427 in many builds. I was planning the 427 all along, as I did see a pic or two in the past. That 352 heading of an article threw me off a bit. But it all makes sense now. Thanks for your help. -

Thanks Mark. Yea, I have more than enough bird decals from various suppliers. I just wish they were supplied on my sheet with the Glassworks lettering, like the 1:1 car has. Modified Production fits the bill on this one. I appreciate your help. -

Also read the heading to an article that the 352 and 3 speed was used when it was new. But was changed to a 427 with a low rise intake and a top loader 4 speed, and Halibrand wheels. But if I click ON the article, it mentions five other cars, except the Custom 300. Go figure. -

I looked on the decal I have and unfortunately the bird emblems are missing. Thanks. I couldn’t make out the Glasswork By Fibrecraft. -

Thanks. A few years ago, someone did post an engine pic, and iirc, it had a similar air induction just like the Thunderbolts, and it had a 427 gold bird emblem on the front of the carburetor or carburetors cover. -

That’s what I was thinking. Anyone can put misinformation on the internet. I was kind of skeptical when I read “it was raced in D/Stock with a 352”. -
I'm building a 63 Mel Burns Ford Custom 300 drag car, and pics are pretty scarce. If someone has any additional pics of this car, I would like to, at the very least, get a look under the hood. I was under the impression that it had a 427. But now I've read somewhere that it was raced in D/Stock, and had a 352. If anyone could post additional pics, maybe from a show, it would be a great help. Theses are the only two I can find.

I haven’t had any issues with the product not sticking. My problem is it looks too rough, and grainy after it’s applied. After rubbing, and burnishing, it still looks rough. (See last pic). The old “new improved” BMF had a nice, shiny, smooth look after applied. And yes, I always fine sand my posts and other areas before painting and foiling. Sometimes I sand those areas even after painting, if need be, since any blemishes on those areas, like window posts, etc, being foiled will show through.

Thanks for the positive replies everyone.

AMT parts pack slicks
Brutalform replied to Brutalform's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks Mark. Much appreciated. -
Thanks. Here are two. One good thing, there are a few pics out there of the real car, unlike many of the old S/S cars.

Finished this car up a few weeks ago. This is a build I started working on to take a break from all the other projects I have going on. I just stayed with it until it was completed. It sits a tad high in the back, but that’s because I had different intentions with the build, besides the Zintsmater car, and the suspension was done. But I can live with the car sitting this way. The BMF that is available now is no where near as nice as the “new improved chrome” that I can no longer find.

Looking for some info on these before purchasing. Does anyone know if these are like the AMT M&H “jumbo” slicks, or the smaller version of the AMT M&H slicks?
-
Simply perfect.

Brutal Fórmula. Back when I was into drag racing, an old friend said the car was brutal. It was a low 11 second street car. And the AC blows ice cold. Haven’t drag raced in about 15 years now. Just building models now.
