  1. Incredible job on the chassis! The factory overspray is perfectly in scale. BTW, what color gray did you use in the chassis? Is it light gray primer? Do you have a picture before the weathering and overspray was applied?
  2. Nice job on the interior! BTW, what did you use for the carpeting? Your 1:1 Formula is beautiful! It has a cleaner look than the Trans Am's had. I really like it. As asked above, what motor/transmission are you running in your 1:1?
  3. I intend to paint a car with Testors Model Master Custom Lacquer System using Testors Ultra Gloss Clearcoat. I will also be applying decals and will spray the Testors Ultra Gloss Clearcoat over to protect them. I tested it and its OK over the decals. Should I spray on some clear over the base color before applying the decals and then spray some more clear over the decals? Or, will the decals be OK applied to the (un-cleared) base color? BTW, I'll be decanting and using an airbrush.
  4. James, Excellent work so far! The engine and interior look real! BTW, what did you use for the carpeting?
  5. Nice job so far Mike! This generation of Ford Econoline has always been my favorite of all vans.
  6. Excellent job on that design Jonathan! That's looks like a perfect retro Charger, much better than the 4 door version Dodge came up with.
  7. Any updates on this build?
  8. That's really cool Jay! The autographs definitely add value to this model.
  9. I tried this technique in the video above and it works real nice. I first painted a set of AMT 69 Riviera 1/25 Vectors using Testors MM Acryl Silver. Then I waited one day and sprayed on some Tamiya acrylic flat black. I used Testors Acryl since Windex doesn't affect it. The Tamiya acrylic wipes off with Windex. After the black was dry I used a Q-Tip moistened with Windex and wiped off the black around the outer edge. Since they are 1/25 wheels I had to use toothpicks dipped in Windex to remove the black paint off the spokes. Here are pictures of the results.
  10. Dominik, this is a nice review of these 2 GL decal sets. The lettering font on the Slixx set looks like it did in the early seasons of the TV show except not as bold. The flag on the Slixx set seems to look more like the early seasons flag although the bars are narrower. The front license plate flag on the FFSMC set is better. If I had to pick I'd go with the flag from the Slixx set. I like the placement of the stars and the darker blue but that's just my preference. I also like the fatter numbers on the Slixx set. Either way both sets are very nice.
  11. I really like the look of the MCG door lock cylinders. It's too bad they are so hard to find now. The kit I'm building is an MPC 69 Charger and the key holes or rather raised bumps aren't very pronounced to begin with. I'm not sure they will show much after the color and clear coat are sprayed on.
  12. I'll be painting a car body with Testors MM Custom Lacquor system (base + clear coat). I'll be airbrushing it on so it should be a bit thinner than right out of the can. I'm assuming the tiny raised key holes on the doors will be less noticeable after the paint is applied. What are some techniques for the key holes? Should I brush paint them or use BMF? They are very tiny. Should I remove them and make new ones with some styrene rod?
  13. Ben, have you tried one of these techniques yet? I'm curious how it worked out. Mike.
  14. I needed some parts and eastown (Bob Purdy) sent then right out. Bob's a great member here.
  15. This is an absolute beautiful build! The weathering looks fantastic.
  16. Dominik, thanks for the link to the German forum. Using Google translator I read through most of it. The modifications you did are amazing. I'm sorry to see you had a problem with the clear coat. I'm sure it will look much nicer when it's all finished. I'm actually doing almost the same thing to an MPC General Lee kit. I still have to upload the progress pictures to Photobucket so I can post them. I've made quite a few modifications. Maybe it's time I start a build thread here. Mike.
  17. Cameron, this is an incrdible build! Your attention to detail is amazing. Mike.
  18. What kit are you building? The MPC General Lee or a Revell 1969 Charger as the GL? Any pictures? Mike.
  19. Is Gunze Mr. Color Black #2, a lacquer paint? If so is it good for painting a car body?
  20. How much paint(lacquer), both color and clear, is generally needed to spray a 1:25/1:24 car body?
  21. Outstanding job on the paint! BTW, what color did you paint it? Mike.
  22. I have a jar of Gunze Mr. Color Gloss Black paint #2. Is this Mr. Color paint lacquer or enamel? A friend sent it to me a while ago and I never used the Gunze paints. If it is indeed lacquer, is it good for painting a car body?
  23. Tyrone, Beautiful job so far as always! I really like the trailer. When I saw the first picture of the trailer I thought it was real. Mike.
  24. Very nice build! Have you finished this one?
  25. I see Tamiya TS-14 (black) has been recommended. A friend told me Tamiya spray lacquers stay soft. Is this true? Testors makes Black lacquer in both a bottle and spray can as part of their Custom Lacquer System . Is Testors black lacquer a pure black? Mike.
