  1. WOW, Tulio, you did a great job on this kit. The paint on the body came out perfect!
  2. Thanks for the picture Mike! Those look very accurate and the tire size looks correct too.
  3. If you can post a picture or 2 soon that would be great. I'd like to see how they look on a Charger.
  4. I have a set of tires from Joseph and they are excellent! Has anyone put the General Lee wheels/tires on a kit yet? An pictures?
  5. Very nice clean build! I like the color you chose and I really like the wheels. They are a nice alternative to standard Vector wheels.
  6. Is Tamiya acrylic XF-16 Flat Aluminum better than Testors Acryl Aluminum? Does Tamiya acrylic XF-16 Flat Aluminum look like a metalizer?
  7. Other than Alclad and Testors Metalizer, is there an acrylic alternative that will give good 'metal' results for exhaust systems and transmission? BTW, what's a good Alclad color to use for the exaust and transmission.
  8. Thanks again Joe! Today I sprayed the Testors CreateFX on the actual model and will polish it next week. It's not a car model. I sprayed the clear over some window decals on a sci-fi model and after they are polished I'll mask the windows and spray the flat clear on. I also sprayed some more of the clear on a piece of scrap plastic and will test polishing it next week before I do it on the actual model. When I did the first experiment today on the scrap plastic, I had a piece with some of the clear satin sprayed over a year ago. I used micromesh cloths and some Novus #3 and McGuires Scratch-X and it looks like glass. I didn't know acrylic water based paint could polish out so nice. I can almost see it being used on a car body.
  9. Thanks for the information. BTW how long should I wait to polish the acrylic paint? Is a few days long enough?
  10. Has anyone polished Testors acrylic clear(s) such as Acryl or CreateFX clear? I tested polishing Testors CreateFX acrylic satin(it's all I had on hand to test) and it looks like glass. However I don't know if it will hold the shine. Will water based acrylics hold the shine when polished? Thanks, Mike.
  11. I'll be using Testors Custom Lacquer System Ultra Gloss Clearcoat and would like to spray it over decals. I'll most likely decant the clear and use an airbrush so I can apply it in thinner coats. I also understand that Testors Ultra Gloss Clearcoat isn't quiet as hot as some of clear lacquers like Tamiya TS-13. Can the Testors Ultra Gloss Clearcoat be sprayed over ALPS printed decals? If I coat the ALPS printed decals with Microscale's Liquid Decal film will this protect the ink? I know Testors gloss lacquer can be applied over ALPS decals when they are still on the paper but am wondering if there is any difference when the decals are applied on the model(car). Thanks, Mike.
  12. Nice work Gregg! It's starting to have a more familiar look. Although I was used to the blue background in the top logo bar.
  13. Tyrone, Excellent work so far! Did you scratch build the pedals?
  14. Thanks guys! I'll most likely use Tamiya Fine Surface Primer. A friend had suggested I use the Testors Custom Lacquer System Primer to keep it all one system. However I just don't like how thick and rough it sprays. As long as the Tamiya primer is OK to use for the Testors MM Custom Lacquer System paint I'll stick to using it. It sprays on nice and thin and smooth. Mike.
  15. Mark, Thanks for all the information on the kits you used to make the wrecker. Beautiful job! I like the 71 Roadrunner but the 74 was the first one Daisy had in the original 5 Georgia episodes so I'll build that one first. Mike.
  16. I forgot to mention flushing with water. I do that right after I use the Windex. Thanks, Mike.
  17. I have the Testors Model Master Custom Lacquer System paint(color, Ultra Gloss Clearcoat and the White Primer. I haven't used it yet but will be doing so soon. I did try the Testors Custom Lacquer System Primer on another model and it sprays real thick and isn't smooth at all. It doesn't spray nearly as nice as the Tamiya Fine Surface primer I usually use. I really don't like it much. Is Tamiya Fine Surface Primer OK for use under the Testors MM Custom Lacquer System paint? Is there another primer that's good under the Testors MM Custom Lacquer System?
  18. When using an airbrush to spray lacquer(Testors or Tamiya), is it necessary to wait 30 minuted between coats? Wouldn't the airbrush need to be cleaned in between every coat?
  19. Hi Steve, I've been using water based acrylics in my airbrush for a few years now. I use both Tamiya acrylics and Testors Model Master Acryl acrylics. I use the recommended thinner each one calls for. Yes Tamiya x20 thinner is basically alcohol but there may be some other ingredients in it that make it work better with their paint. For the Testors I use their univeral thinner which is recommended. Testors acrylic is not an alcohol based paint and I'm not sure what their thinner is made from. The one thing I noticed is that Tamiya acrylic paint can be wiped off the model with Windex, even after a long time has passed. Testors acrylic paint is not affected by Windex at all once it has cured. It seems to have a tougher finish. When I'm done painting with either Tamiya acrylic or Testors acrylic I always apply a clear coat. I use Testors Create FX acrylic clear which is very tough and won't budge if hit with Windex. I use Windex to clean my airbrush. It's cheaper than using Tamiya x20 thinner and cleans everything thoroughly. Make sure it's Windex brand. I've found that the no-name 'Windex' products aren't nearly as good as actual Windex. However, I only use water based acrylics on non-car models. As far as I know the best way to paint a car body is with a solvent based paint such as lacquer urathane or enamel.
  20. Mark, Your diorama is looking very nice! You are doing a great job on Cooter's yellow wrecker! I've been watching season 4 in the last few days so I'm familiar with this one. BTW, what kit(2) are you using to make the yellow wrecker? Revell/Monogram put out a 71 Roadrunner that will also work as Daisy's Roadrunner. Daisy had both a 71 and a 74 Roadrunner. The 74 was the first one used in the Georgia episodes. Mike.
  21. Tim, nice job so far! I really like the look of this one. That motor is a beast! Mike.
  22. gardnerpage44(Paul) is a great guy to deal with. Highly recommended and a great addition to this community!
  23. I tested spraying Testors Model Master Ultra Gloss Clearcoat Lacquer over Testors Acryl acrylic paint and there is no bad effect. Testors is not a hot lacquer.
  24. Flawless paint job!
