  1. From what I've seen in pictures Model Car World (MCW) metallics seem to be somewhat in scale for 1/25 models. Much better than the Testors metallics.
  2. Skip, The different paint manufactures all have different paint codes for the same color and GM has their own paint code. So far the 1970 Cadillac Briarwood Firemist Metallic looks close enough. 1970 Chevrolet Classic Copper also looks sort of close too.
  3. Thanks Harry for adjusting that picture. I'm trying to match a brown color to this 1964 Cadillac Ambulance in these 2 pictures below. I found these pictures of a 1970 Cadillac in Briarwood Firemist Metallic that looks close. Someone mentioned 1966 Cadillac Autumn Rust Metallic. The color chips that are scanned on the Autocolorlibrary.com seem to show the colors a bit darker than they should. I lightened the 1966 Cadillac color chip a bit but would like to see some good pictures of this color on an actual car in good daylight.
  4. I'll be using MCW paint. The Testors Metallics looks a bit out of scale. Kind of like metal flake.
  5. It definitely looks like the color. If someone has a picture showing the color in a brighter setting that would be great.
  6. I've been Google-ing it for days and can't find a single picture of a car painted this color.
  7. Does anyone have any pictures of a 1966 Cadillac painted Autumn Rust Metallic? It's paint code 46
  8. How is the quality of the resin chrome plated parts Modelhaus sells? I'm concerned with chrome plating on resin parts in general. Is it at least as sturdy as on styrene parts?
  9. Thanks Jon! However I'm interested in one to build as something other than the Ecto 1. I should have asked if the main parts, body, chassis, interior, windows... were the same or different. I like the stock rear bumper in the Polar Lights kit and am trying to figure out if that's a good enough reason to get the Polar Lights kit instead of the AMT.
  10. mikemodeler is a great guy to deal with!
  11. What are the main differences between the AMT and Polar Lights Ecto-1 kits?
  12. Other than the rear roof up-rights the rest of the Jo-Han 66 Ambulance isn't usable. It doesn't have the wrap around windshield. It still looks like the best option is to combine the AMT Ghostbusters and the Jo-Han 64 Cadillac kits and scratch build the high-top. There is a German and French release of the Misfits Of Science on DVD. Both sets have English audio as an option but are in the European PAL video format. I'm able to watch them on my computer using 3rd party video player software from VLC. I understand now. Thanks for clearing that up.
  13. Art, It looks to have the paint color of the Schaefer Ambulances. The red-ish brown lower section. Al, The Jo-han Ambulance doesn't have the wrap around windshield that the Ghostbusters kit has.
  14. I'd have to combine the Jo-Han 1964 body's front end and hood as well as the tail lights with either the Ghostbusters body or the Jimmy Flintstone body. I think using a styrene body(Ghostbusters) will be easier. The hi top on the Jimmy Flintstone body isn't the same as in the pictures I posted above so I can scratch build that. I contacted both Schaefer Ambulance and the Professional Car Society regarding the color. I'll let you know what I find.
  15. The Jimmy Flintstone 59 Ambulance's hi-top doesn't match the one from the TV show and the body would need to be converted to a 64. It seems using the Ghostbusters kit and a Jo-Han 64 is the better option. Does anyone know what color was used for the bottom, red-ish, part of the Schaefer Ambulances?
  16. There was a TV show on NBC in 1985 called Misfits Of Science. In the opening scene of the pilot episode there was an old Cadillac Ambulance. I attached some screen shots. Can anyone tell me what year this Cadillac is? It looks like it's a Schaefer Ambulance. Does anyone know what paint/color was used for the lower red-ish color? The AMT Ghostbusters Ecto-1 kit looks very similar to this ambulance in the screen shots. The tail lights are different. Does anyone know of another kit I can use to build this ambulance or is the Ghostbusters kit the way to go?
  17. I agree, that's a lot of superglue. It's harder than the styrene and can get brittle. When I build mine I plan on using sheet styrene and putty to fix the front fender openings. Mark - Do you have a build thread of your 56?
  18. Thanks again Pete for all your input! I'll most likely pick up the .5 mm needle and I'll continue to try different paints and see what works best.
  19. Thanks guys for the advice. However I intend to use other lacquers in the future and not just decant paint from spray cans. Can someone recommend a needle size for lacquer? Is .35 mm or .50 mm big enough or should I go to another airbrush with a larger needle size?
  20. I have an Iwata Eclipse HP-CS and recently decanted Testors MM Custom Lacquer System paint and shot it with the airbrush. It seemed to leave a grainy surface. The Iwata HP-CS has a .35 mm needle but can be changed to a .50 mm needle. Maybe the needle is too small. Does lacquer require a larger needle size? if so what's a good needle size and/or airbrush for spraying lacquer? I do like the Iwata airbrushes.
  21. I hope they come back soon. I could use a few parts and from what I've heard their stuff is very high quality.
  22. Awesome job on this Terry! The paint is beautiful.
  23. Is Gunze Mr. Color Spray(rattle can) paint any good? Does it require a gloss clear? I don't think it does but I thought I'd ask.
  24. I'm looking for some information on how the late '60's - early '70's Cadillac Chassis' were painted. Did they have body color overspray over primer? Were the frame rails painted black? If anyone has pictures that would be great.
  25. Nice work on the chassis!
