  1. Here is the patriot Mercury. I just brought in my phone.
  2. I just went to Walmart a while ago and found three 1:64 scale die cast cars in a series called a patriot series. There was a 49 Merc with a simpler version of this paint job, a blower, differerent taillights etc...Just wandering if it inspired this build. Might wanna pick one up just to go on the shelf with it. You're doing an exceptional job for a first attempt at a complicated paint job.
  3. Just a thought. If you go this route, maybe you could paint the white first and use some of those little stars teachers put on kids' homework to help mask the front star graphics.
  4. I was just wandering if Krylon is an enamel paint? I always thought it was. Most people I see here commenting on the subject say that enamel and laquer don't mix. However, I spray Krylon silver under all of my Testors One Coat paint jobs without an issue.
  5. For small parts, yellow Sharpie. I don't have hobby stores close to get all the tinted clears, etc a lot of people use. I have found Sharpies great for yellow and orange turn signals, red taillights, taillight blue dots, Chevy bowties, touchups on black in inconspicuous areas, and for a number of other reasons. There was a Revell 49 Merc on here a while back that had the yellow sharpie trick on one of the "teeth" in the grille and it looked great.
  6. Seems I remember the Waverider grille in the box of the "Trucks" version...I built it over a year ago and would have chucked it out because I didn't like it so, I don't know for 100% sure. But yeah, all three kits are basically the same and the ground effects are glue on.
  7. You didnt get purple all over the white so, all in all, a valiant first effort. Nice job and welcome.
  8. LOL, I need a 66 Nova. That Magic Mart is about 45 minutes away. Maybe I need to go there.
  9. I don't know if the chain is nation wide but, in Kentucky, we have stores called Magic Mart. (Something like the predecessor to Wal-mart). They have a limited selection of model cars and paints. But their prices are very reasonable. The cheapest kit I have found is $10.99 and I think the most expensive I have seen is $15.99. They have a couple of the more popular models such as the Revell Special Edition 69 Nova and the Revell California Wheels 60 Impala. I know Michaels and Hobby Lobby offer the coupons but, if you are not anywhere near one, this helps.
  10. You might want to try contacting the Hobby Town in Lexington. I'm from the other way (eastern KY) and go there time to time. They have a customer display case in the back and they say they have people from all over the place stop in. They might have some insight....although, it seems that since models went up to $20-$30 dollars on average, their selection and aftermarket parts have fallen way off.
  11. This is...well...I dunno. It looks like you could step into it and drive it off. And once you are driving, pass everything else on the road. Two thumbs up on this one!
  12. The "pregnant rollerskate" in a pro street. Man, this is so wrong that it is right! Keep the ball rolling on this one. It's going to be a fun ride. I am curious though, as I am just 35. I always heard that one door is longer than the other. Is this represented in the kit?
  13. Dang, man. This thing is looking good.
  14. Maybe that's his Mopar collection...or on his donate to us list...
  15. LOL, NP. I am usually working customer service when I post. So, I am usually talking out my rear and not realizing it on here. I just happened to be cleaning mine at the exact time I saw this post.
  16. This actually looks like the Lindberg kit. With the Uptown Charger, there are many giveaway styling ques in the body as well. The lower front bumper is not cut out, there is a sunroof, the headlights have holes for the lenses on the ends, there are no door handles, the stock grille is made a bit differently and the hood hinges are toward the middle of the firewall instead of on the ends of the hood where they should be. The wheels are sourced from another kit or the aftermarket (to my Knowledge). I know they weren't borrowed from the Uptown Charger because mine did not come with them, nor did my Uptown 300C (that got crushed). On a side note, I saw the Lindberg Superbee at Ollie's in Barboursville, WV the other day for $8.00. They had about 10 of them. So, if someone lives in that area, and wants a cheap Superbee, there ya go.
  17. So, that's what happened to my '49 Merc mirror...Glad to know it will be back at a later date
  18. Get what you can at the Hobby Lobby with the 40-50% off coupons and run down to the other end of the plaza for everything else.
  19. I likes the 60-64s a lot. This is going to be good.
  20. Looks great so far Phil. I can't wait to go to Hobby Lobby and get mine this weekend.
  21. I think you should finish it, blow it up to 1:1 and park it in my driveway. Can't wait to see it with some color.
  22. So that's why I see the signs at show host hotels that say, "Please do not use our towels to clean your vehicle."
  23. Skydime

    BMGatti

Talk about new tooling! This thing is insane. I couldn't even fathom scratch building an entire car.
  24. Well, you've taken an already great kit and knocked it out of the park. That tilt front end looks like it belongs on that kit OOB.
  25. Gotta Love Mondays Very nice.
