Question on 40 ford pickups
Nova-ss replied to Nova-ss's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thank you Jeff and Bill.I'm making the seat like a factory stock 40 Ford pickup and yes..its a half ton.I have the tank made and it fits behind the rear axle.the seat is a bench seat and I had to remove all of monograms custom seat patterns.I made a back to the seat.so question is? how does the back of the bench seat mount to the bottom of the bench to make a whole seat...I hope the makes sense. ..thank you....Chris -
Well,I didn't get it either...but thats ok.I looked and figured it out.Its ok to me,and where it it is..so keep building brothers. .take care..please.....Chris

Question on 40 ford pickups
Nova-ss replied to Nova-ss's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
hey ya bud.I'm making a bench seat from a glue bomb and the the back and bottom separate pieces now and was going to make it tilt.but didn't know if the seats back then did that.but if not then I'll make it fixed then.I found out that the tank is in the frame rail behind the rear axle.I don't know yet when they changed the tank from rear axle to behind the bench seat...hope your well....Chris -

To the KOOL KATS at Round2
Nova-ss replied to Tye Brown's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Oh yes..truly happy with what Round2 is doing with the trucks [big trucks and pickups] and the cars mentioned. I just want them to return the older kits to there former greatness. Its been a blast building these a and some I never was able to.yes I know tgere has been issues with them.,,so what!!...I'm having fun and to me its worth it and fixing an moding these are fun.thats what modeling is all about.I would love to see all the vintage kits reissued with all the parts and box art they came with back in the original issues.please keep up the great work.I have no suggestions cause everyone else's suggestions are perfect for me.but if your listening to this.why not make the decals, boxes with the original art work and istruction sheets available to purchase directly from you..many other things that I would love to get besides the kit of course. ..please think about the suggestions mentioned here for future releases..again thank you.I for one am happy....Chris -

Speaking about Stash Size........
Nova-ss replied to stavanzer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've felt that way before to..but a few days or a given time later ..I felt different.I don't think about "stash" to me its my store.I look at it that way.I have in it what I want.its fun to look through.I'm going to build them all.but about 20 percent of the kits are for parts only..never will be built as a model..there just parts and that is separate from parts only bins.everyone see's it differently. .....Chris -

Sorry about the words not showing up.the pictures are of the 40 pickup #2,which the glue bomb pickup.trying to get both trucks to the same point or spot.this is the fuel tank parts.with the top of the tank and the bottom tank parts as well.I still have a hard time understanding how to load pictures with the words.and it all to make sense.making the top and side after cut the tank out on this glue bomb or what I call #2 pickup...the monogram with no top just cause most won't see the top isn't a good readon to leave it out..side I enjoy it...hope those that look understand what I'm doing...thanks to you all...Chris -

AMT 1976 Chevrolet Nova "Street Custom"
Nova-ss replied to Junkman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'm a Nova fan.had all versions in my life.you can't exchange any versions from any year under 75.74 and 73 were the same but the frame wasn't like the 75 to 79.and 68 to 72 was for the most part on frame the same also camaro 67 to 69 had same frame as Nova from 68 to 72.but the using a frame from 72 isn't accurate to 1/1.the engine has the looks of Pontiac. ..it isn't a Chevrolet sb.I don't know why they showed us models that have parts not in it.also my frames are stock...meaning no tubs on mine ,looks ......Chris -
so that make sense why the Nova has a Pontiac like engine in it...cause it was the ventura first...thanks for the info....Chris

I hear ya Jim,I mainly built cars and pickup, but a few planes and ships, but the 352 was what start it for me...there is still a soft spot for the 352,925 and 4270..but I started in 74 in trucks but started building when I was 4 years old.don't remember the car but it was AMT and no glue,no paint mother said scotch tape..I built it that way.thank you and all others on this thread, very interesting read......Chris -

Jeff, great story.I also built the AMT TnT series. they wasn't as fun as there 25th scale counter parts, but cause they were trucks..I built them and draw the pictures on the box as well..great story...I know it wouldn't be a best seller.but it would be great to hear all model builders story on there first builds..to me it would be great....Chris -
What was your first truck model?
Nova-ss replied to Mike77's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I sure remember my first.I bought it from Grand Central. back then where I lived they were everywhere. I skipped jr high, got on the bus..went downtown. got my first semi truck after cars, airplanes and a few ships...fell in love with big trucks.AMT Peterbilt 352,the oil refinery scene.summer of 74 a week later she was done.no detail added, but the most fun I had building models..not to mention. .it started me reading and learning.from there I learned about speakers and how to rebuild them and mechanics. my father drove truck..he got me overdrive, which the othe boys liked cause of the girl pictures in them.I also started drawing trucks.so my interest in trucks keeped growing.next was the AMT Kenworth W925 Watkins version, bought at the same store..again skipping school.stepfather didn't care, mother didn't know till years later when I couldn't get a beating.I had my own money from jobs I worked...money wasn't the problem..time was betwwen working with stepfather on a farm and working with a lady on our block doing yard work and selling pictures kids wanted..I had money, just not enouch time.ERTL IH F4270 was next.thats when detailing started.I read books on what I was building, started seeing inaccurate parts.got involved with Autoworld back then and that started my love of Tamiya models.like you all its a fun read..and Jeff Regan..loved your history and all the times we meet and talked trucks..I sure miss them. ....Chris. ..oh and lots more trucks, trailers, tractors and other scratch built models after that...its funny how things start..oh and after I started rebuilding speakers...years later had my own sound co mixing sound with my best friend in the world. -
