    AE86 LEVIN

hey hey, heres another one i built a year ago. it was for a group contest on another forum. it's an aoshima kit, i used SMS carbon decal, custom body kit, added some more tubing to kits roll cage. while i built this one, we had to move out of where we were living. so it cut my time short to be how i wanted it to be. you see a FMIC, it was meant to have a 3SGT engine under the hood. i might come back to this one and do the engine on it.
  5. hey guys, well i joined MCM last year august and realized that i didn't share a couple of my builds. this one is the first one after a 5 year hiatus from the hobby. its also a first for scratch building and detailing, other than what comes in the kit. i built this for my daughter, which at the time she was 5 yo. she has come to like beetles. i have another one in my stash that she wants me to build for her. i lost the wiper blades, the paint on the engine bonnet was no good. i stripped it and haven't fixed it yet, the front side windows were glue damaged and cause of that i wasn't able to mount a thermadore that i made. due to time limitations its not 100% to where i wanted it to be. kit: tamiya 66 beetle scratch built: header, narrowed front beam, willwood style pedal assembly and carb manifolds after market parts: mr model carb stacks and muffler tip, crewdawg resin carbs, pegasus low pro tires w/thin white wall, BMF
  6. that is a sweet paint job. really clean doc. looking forward to the next build.
  7. she did an excellent job on these. if you are teaching her the ways of the plasmurai then kudos to you as well.
  8. nice idea. you can also use blue tack/poster tack instead of tape. the blue tack is reusable even if paint gets sprayed on.
  9. cool tool. wont use regular blades those have a hole in center for the screw. reg blades don't.
  10. wow, that is a mean looking hummer. would hate to see that coming up on my rear view. your scratch building is fantastic. keep up the great work.

  17. yes please, i have several clear parts that need some tlc. also, how about safely removing adhesive. like from masking tape.
  18. yeah, these are cool. i have the 1/8" eyelets but have yet to use them. look great.
  19. ok randy, i thinks that is the last straw..im done, kaput, finito, i quit!
  20. i fill up airbag guys all the time. i charge them 15 bucks for the large tank. lists at about 20-25 after tax. they get the "clowners" discount..
  21. nope, no oil either. just plain ol-moisture free air. as for pricing, only the initial buying of the cylinder and regulator. but the gas itself is fairly cheap. a small(about 2 1/2" tall) cylinder, the fill is about 12 bucks. and since i already work hear, i get employee discount. its about 50% off listed price for gases. and as i said, i already have the cylinder and reg. i use it for tires and air tools. oh, yes. there will be ventilation. i use a spray booth vents out of the window and and paint mask. also have a ceiling fan going as well.
  22. hey guys, well before anyone says "hey isn't that the funny gas??" nope, its not. thats nitrous oxide. i want to get some opinions before i go forth and spray away this weekend. well, nitrogen is just dry air. no moisture so used for many things, IE...inflating tires, off road shocks, purging pipes, so on and so on. its non flammable so it's safe to have inside a home. i was thinking since i already own a cylinder big enough to have at home along with a pressure regulator, i was wondering if it would be a good alternate for air air supply. why not get a compressor, well i don't have the space in my garage, nor my home. also, it makes too much noise, i like to work on my hobby after hours and if i can use nitrogen, well that saves me a few bucks for other stuff as i can get the gas at a super cheap deal. heck, if it works and anyone else (local) wants to have a go, ill set you guys up with it as well.
  23. awesome paint job doc. im digging this a lot. how the kit? im always weary of buying them.
