What are you talking about? Other than the Rat Roaster (and the '32 Roadster they reissued based on it to "De-Stacy" it) and the '29/'30 Model A kits this would be one of the newest Hot Rod kits available. It came out originally in 2011 (then called a '32 Ford Sedan Street Rod) which is based of the 1996 new tool '32 Ford tooling. This isn't a reissue based on the old Orange Crate from the 1960s.

Heh...they might function 2-3 times and then the plastic hinges would snap off and you had an exploded '57 Bel Air. At least with Aoshima's Lamborghini kits with Opening & Closing Doors they run on metal parts and last a little while.

The finesse of language being lost in the machine translation is "functional", the doors and rear hatch open and close at the builders whim. "Opening Doors" within the context of Japanese kits means the doors can be posed open or left closed, but you have to pick one or the other. Aoshima's own Paganis are a great example of that. Those kits have multiple opening body panels, but you have to make decisions as to what is open and what stays closed during assembly - they don't function again afterwards. I mean almost every model kit made by U.S. manufacturers has an "opening" hood, but that just means it's a separate part and if you want to display it open it really implies - Display on the ground beside the car to show off the engine. Very few things besides Corvettes and the odd "Flip-Nose" doohicky had functional hoods. There was even that kick Revell & AMT/Ertl got on in the 90s where new kits came with really detailed hood hinges, but then if you installed them you were making your engine bay a giant dust catcher because the hood will be permanently open until the earth cools. Which looks better in a display granted, but then you can't actually close it.

The 32 Roadster was reissued in 2005, which is also the last time the 3 Window kit was done last. The tooling wasn't "tired", there just wasn't any more room on the inserts for any more parts, so a new tool was required to do the Rat Roaster. The base 1996 '32 Ford 3 Window kit had begot the 5 Window, the Roadster, this Tudor, and the Speedwagon. That's a LOT of engines/engine options to say nothing of the interiors and other parts. There's only so much square footage to a piece of tooling even with swapping out inserts.

Ed had the test shots mounted to the advertising board and a box with him at the IPMS Show in Indianapolis last weekend. Has to be getting close for the boxes to be completed. I don't know if he'll be in NJ at the end of the month or not, but Revell is supposed to be at the IPMS Nationals in Madison in July - although the C8 might be out by then.

All of that was in the original ZG kit, if this follows the pattern of the other Street Custom kits the new parts are added, but original parts are not subtracted.

Nice job! Fun fact this car only ran one race in 1992. It suffered an engine failure and that was the last it was ever raced.

Good job dealing with what you had available. Fujimi couldn't send you decals for it since the last time it was run was 21 years ago. I've had them replace parts in the past. You never here back from them and then suddenly months later a package shows up.

Moebius under the ownership of Pegasus moves at the speed of cash. They're not willing to extend a large amount of debt to service the production of things, or sell half the company to venture capital firms, etc. Frustrating for some I'm sure, but financially the wisest thing for the company to exist long term and produce the kits you want. The alternative to not teasing new products (regardless as to the final release date) is complete radio silence and then people will start running around declaring them out of business or whatever.

Licensing tends to run on three year terms, and that kit was produced in 2020, so the licensing is up. Sales of the kit vs. the cost of a future renewal would dictate whether it's ever reissued as the TV car in the future.

The police cars would have also been Biscayne trim level for the majority as well.

That VW Type 3 changes scale every time it gets reissued. Half the boxes say 1/25, half of them - including the most recent reissue last year - say 1/24.

Even faster, that kit came out 14 years ago.

Presuming the displays are quality well made items, you're probably not charging enough for them given $500 works out to $12.50/hr for 40 hours of work and wouldn't take into account the materials involved. My earlier comment - that Chuck recently quoted in his post that got all of this started - is I don't see the point of re-selling a JF resin item, even with "value added" for a nominally lower price of $100 + Shipping (which means $110-115, we're quibbling over 5 bucks) and slapping a "Jo-Han" label on it seems...weird. It's not something that was ever a Jo-Han product. I could totally see the point of offering a resin version of an actual Jo-Han kit offering, especially if it were improved with 3D printed parts. But some random truck for the funnsies tying up an old name for Nostalgia FOMO sakes? Color me unimpressed with the business model...

I wouldn't expect it until late this year if it makes 2024 at all. The C8 Corvette would be the next new tool kit that needs to be released.

If you want to further muddy those waters AMT *did* make a 4 Door Blazer as part of the SnapFast Plus "unassembled promo" series of kits. That entire kit series is an interesting set of "why not just make regular models of that?" business decisions. Especially considering the fact that those trucks - Dually Dodge, 2500 Silverado, this Blazer and Tahoe tend to be the most sought after since they fall under the whole "Made for AMT, not by AMT." so they can't be reissued. In real time the SFP kits probably sold in orders of magnitude less than the glue kits because even in 2024 Snap kits are looked down on as toys regardless to the part count. That doesn't even get into the static Round2 gets over the current situation Craftsmen Plus subjects being curbside.

The Asphalt Modified Wes had made with SJR doing the production was a ground up new project. If you made a new tool of any subject JoHan did, it wouldn't be a JoHan kit anymore...

I believe Watermark went in and out of business in 1996. I have a couple of the Canadian Police Car sheets they did, but there was never follow up production to anything after that.
