AMT The Green Hornet Black Beauty Kit
niteowl7710 replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
For everyone screaming about multi-variants and debunking them. Let's see how much this costs first. Also for anyone who was at Wonderfest, did Round2 talk up specific features about this kit that make it anything other than a blown up version of the 1/32 kit? Tooling is a lot cheaper when all the R&D is already done and you're just copying a pattern to a larger (or smaller) size. BTW the Tamiya Toyota TS020 had two releases originally (one with the clear body shtick) and a later reissue in the "black box" style. Also when that kit came out in 1999 it was wildly more expensive than anything made domestically here. Heck it STILL has a $40 MSRP if you buy it directly from TamiyaUSA. NuNu's BMW M8 has a second version coming this summer and they sold out of the first run. As I've said countless times before - You can make a 0 variant kit, you're just gonna pay a whole lot of money for it (see the $60+ price tag at Belkits for example). -
https://www.zoomonmodel.com/ I have some resin transkits and multimedia kits from them, and a couple of window mask sets which I haven't gotten around to using yet. Don't think I have any of their actual decals beyond the sheets that have come with the resin items.

No it's more of a - Why does this forum constantly put forth an unrealistic wish list of upgrades a kit from their childhood will never receive regardless as to who owns the tooling? With a dose of - Can someone please show the contents of the box of something everyone over the age of 30 has owned at LEAST one of? Which then usually spawns a multi-page flame war as to which kit of said subject matter is actually the best one, even though all of the choices involved are at least 20 years old and everyone has made up their mind 5 Presidential Elections ago. It doesn't matter what I or anyone else thinks of the kit, because ultimately some people love it and with enough beating and curse words a perfectly good model can be built our of this kit. But the seemingly never ending confusion or borderline outrage that the same kit in a different box is in fact no different than it's ever been has to wear on more than me. This kit isn't a full drag kit...well no it has never been that, why would it magically change now in 2022, when it's been offered the same exact way since the Beatles were still a band and all alive?

Sure haven't you heard, you can't die til you build your stash....ergo I'm immortal!! ? Usually when aftermarket decals come out for these GT3 cars you wind up trying to buy kits for them later when finding them can become an issue. I just pre-brought ahead of time. There's already 4 schemes available (including the box art car) and there will be another half dozen coming available in fairly short order. ZoomOn and a few others are making the Evo II "flipped" spoiler which is the only major visible change for the 2022-2025 cars so decals can be made for this updated version for awhile.

Kit of the Month from Salvinos. This is a box of disappointment. Body is warped on 2 axis and has some weird molding irregularity on the front fenders. Decals are awesome though... Big box of Audis from HLJ, also the new Hasegaw Suprea Turbo A (the 500 car homologation street car for the Gr. A race package) and BeeMaNuNu Peugeot 306 Evo kit and P/E, lastly the newest big sheet of decals from Good Smile Racing to make their 2019 Super GT AMG GT3 (Tamiya).

In reality it should be... Build ONE of TWO Versions: You KNOW what's in here for the past 50 years So QUIT whining about it

2017 as the Petty Hauler with the race car, but the version they're reissuing was released back in 2013 and long ago sold out.

Latvia has finally landed. In fairness to A&N they did notify me upfront of the extended production lead time and gave an estimated shipping date that they nailed to the day. The subsequent 3 weeks of transit time are reasonable given the global travel situation still effects the mail, and the Memorial Day Holiday added a couple of days on this end. Regardless everything arrived in pristine condition on first glance.

A few weeks back I got this package of odds and sods from HobbyEasy. Mostly decals, but also some window masks and re-mastering of an old Hobby Design Resin Set I had always wanted from years past that they just re-released up to their current standards.

Spotted this in Tim's (Throttle Power) coverage of the HCMA show in YouTube. One of the most talked about 80s kits around here and nobody else noticed who was there and took pictures that day?

AMT 1/25 2021 Bronco First Edition
niteowl7710 replied to Jordan White's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I think a bigger portion of their issues, if you want to call it that, is with their odd subject selection mixed with an eclectic knack for screwing up the final product. The F-350 has a gas exhaust system and decals instead of the correct Powerstroke stuff. The H1 is a mish-mash of years and options as rear "barn doors" weren't available on the year Hummer it is, and it's so beholden to the specific prototype they had information from it actually has the dealership logo from Louisville, KY molded into the plastic...not to mention the number of lights on the H1 that are molded in plastic military style instead of having separate lenses as you'd expect in an automotive kit. The Jeep is a weirdly specific 10th Anniversary 2 door with a specific leather interior. Most of course are 4 doors with a normal cloth interior. The GT 40 feels like a by-product of the large scale kit, and the new BMW Z4 (which was released in HK last week) is another oddball answer to a question I don't know anyone was asking. They have the Bimmer license from all the 1/9 bikes kits, but I think other "M" spec cars (M3, M4, M5, even the older GT3 base M6, or GTE based M8 in civilian clothes) would be more broadly interesting topics other than having something that most people relate to as being what ruins the 5th Gen Supra. -

Meng has never done further versions of any of their 1/24 kits. -
The thing with the - Pair it up with xyz 90s kit guts - is at the point you're running two tools to produce one kit. That's expensive as two halves of each kit is going back into scrap styrene. It's part of the reason why these new Coronets are getting a new chassis BASED on, but not actually of the original. Running off thousands of Roadrunner parts (or thousands of '74 Charger parts for that matter) just for the chassis is inefficient. When you're creating a whole new tool to mimic and improve the original it's a better return on investment to just go ahead and make the chassis and suspension than have to run two tools to get one kit. I'll leave it up to the other thread on here over making a slightly updated version of the old chassis vs. an entire modern new chassis is a better decision as I see both sides of that argument.

It's an odd shaped box, but the Land Rover was reboxed for the U.S. market.
-
My LHS got the "Son of Troublemaker" and the Yellow Fiat in today. He ordered 60+ Fiats and received...three (((3))) kits. So apparently that one is going to be pretty popular right out of the gate.
-
I don't believe HL carries Revell European boxings of kits do they? There isn't a U.S. SKU for it, so it almost certainly isn't going to get reboxed for North America.
-
I think much like the cloning success of older kits, additional late model kits are going to be dependent on the sales of the Charger and this Bronco. Prove there's an actual market instead of old sales data and supposition. Putting engines in there would require tooling both N/A and Turbo parts and if they ever make a Raptor that's different Turbo parts as well. Easier to leave it out and some 3D guys can fill the market. Also it's an option on the higher trim level Broncos to add this "Retro Louver Hood Scoop" (Raptor for reference) to the truck. Making the hood separate allows them to go back in and add the hood without necessitating an entire top half of the body tool if it were molded together

I will go with always popular Option C - None of rhe Above.
