Moebius 66 Ford F100 Pickup preview
niteowl7710 replied to SteveG's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
As of this exact moment in time it's still listed on distributor websites. As far as I know there wasn't an official release date for either of the new kits other than no earlier than 3Q 2019. -
Well there was a point in time where things went completely sideways between the two and part of that deal was the paint that was being used and where it was being sourced from. It's over two years in the past now, but people who bought the same color paints from both sides of the Atlantic were getting drastically different shades and colors of paint. That was when the glass bottles weren't rupturing in the Postal System because of a lack of proper packaging. There was feuding between the two over what colors to add to the overall line, and to this day there are a number of colors you can only get (after begging, borrowing and beating with Paypal granted) from the U.S. side. Mate deserves every sling and arrow headed his way for his "customer service", but for Gravity in Spain to dance around acting like the aggrieved party who did nothing wrong and has no responsibility in their divorce is hilarious.
-
Gravity U.S. has their paint made by BASF, the Spanish side uses locally sourced paint in Spain. That was part of the reason why the two sides split in the first place the local Spain-based paint wasn't being properly color matched or using the finer based metallic that Gravity U.S. (and then Splash) use which give an "in scale" flake that Gravity Europe and Zero Paints lack.

I have one of those donut boxes held together with duct tape, and it still won't maintain anything resembling structural integrity.

Buying Belkits in the USA
niteowl7710 replied to Luc Janssens's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Looks like Upscale must do an order on demand type of thing, because he doesn't have the Mantas in stock and M&S has had those for quite awhile. If I REALLY want a kit RIGHT now I order through Domino Model, which I think is their own retail arm. Spot Models in Spain is another overseas favorite if I'm in a hurry. Otherwise I wait till Mark gets them in, or get them months later when Aoshima distributes them in Japan via HLJ. -
This is one of those things were I will once again point to just sucking it up and using hobby paints. I know, I know the price of a can of Tamiya primer and paint is more than you all can tolerate. But when it comes down to it, how much money is anyone REALLY saving by using those "big cheap cans of xyz" when we all constantly seeing paint compatibility disasters like this one, or worse yet the paint crazing the body an irreparably damaging it? You got a giant can of paint for $8...how much is your time stripping everything and repainting it all, or trying all the voodoo magik tricks to use paint designed for sheet metal really worth to you?

As far as I know all of the parts are in there to build a factory stock Nova, albeit with the Pontiac engine. The engine had never been correct as (pointed out early in this thread) the tooling is Ventura based. I suspect Round2 went with the tarted up Squad Rod on the box as a Nostalgia thing.

The great irony of this month's video is, unlike normal ones where maybe a few things might not actually be slated to arrive in a given month...as the distribution list sits now - NONE of the 9 models or the parts pack are actually scheduled for February. The '69 GTX "Cabriolet" is still carrying over from not being released last month, and the two kits actually slated are the Imperial & '69 Chevelle.
-
Goodness it's a minor retool reissue. They opened the pre-orders for those things before Shizouka LAST year for a Fall Release after dragging it around since February of 2017. I don't even know if I care enough to recieve it at this point, especially given that it's gonna run over $75 directly from Japan.

Moebius 66 Ford F100 Pickup preview

5, just like the Ford first set. Flareside, Short bed, long bed, utility bed, and 4x4. -
While I too loathe the RevellAG flatboxes to a certain extent, but exactly how high are you stacking them, that they're collapsing? Is your hobby area subject to earthquakes or under a trampoline park?

What's the latest Revell North America News
niteowl7710 replied to Phildaupho's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Revell's U.S. distribution is still working out the kinks...oh who are we kidding it's disaster. Hobby Lobby gets their kits because they're ordering nearly an entire production run in order to stock new kits into 700+ stores. But beyond that the 3PL that's working now seems to be filling orders on a size based first come, first served method that means you only get models if you order multiple cases and as soon as physically possible. It's even got Stevens Int'l turned around because they've never gotten stock of the '67 GTX reissue, but Hobbytyme did and sent 4 to my LHS, but now that kit is unavailable from any distributor. That doesn't even get into the total lack of Revell Germany kit availability, or the fact that Canadian distributors have been getting the shaft on nearly everything. It'll smooth itself out, it basically has to, but it's not been a smooth first 120 days. -
The Typ 2 Van is the Revell kit with newly tooled Kombi parts from Ebbro. One of these days they might actually issue that DS21, they showed that thing for the first time at Nuremberg in 2017...I think my pre-order at HLJ is over a year old at this point.

There's not really a point to reissuing the 250 GTO at this point is there? The Fujimi kit superceded it quite convincingly, and that kit is being reissued with it's P/E wire wheels again in March.

"For Nostalgia Purposes Only" should be Round2's Plastic Model Department's corporate slogan. -

If you NEED one, and can find one, get one. Beemax sold out on their end in about 10 days. There's a planned 2nd run in April.

The '70 was just reissued in 2012. -
Diolex did a civilian interior for the Volvo, that's probably your best bet.

Tamiya: Toyota TS050 Hybrid Le Mans 2018

The box art says "Authentic Engine & Suspension Detail"...apparently we're stretching the meaning of authentic and detail a bit these days. -
Tamiya did the F1 car from last season.

Based on the new licensing rate for Ferrari, I'd save your incense. The rumors I'm hearing directly out of Japan is that Tamiya is seriously considering not continuing their longstanding license.
