  1. From past experience, I avoid quick and easy setups. Each time usually resulted in a broken end mill, broken or damaged piece, or flying debris. I do dread the 20 minute setup needed for a simple 1 minute cut on a part. But I've learned that taking the extra time during piece mounting/setup results in far less headaches down the road. Of course if you're machining styrene, the danger decreases by a large margin.
  2. Jairus,Chris, and scale-master are some of the finest builders around in my opinion. Some time ago, Chris posted pictures of every car he built...I still have those saved on my computer. Great stuff.
  3. Yes, but I forgot where I read it....Google it..might have been a machining forum.
  4. I had the same thing happen the other day. I very very lightly wet sanded using 600, enough to take the bumps out. Then wet sanded using 1000,2000,4000,6000,12000....then used ScratchX. You can opt out and just use 1000,2000...but will require a little more polishing. The key is light and slow, towel dry, look at it, repeat. Repeat.
  5. Thanks for the link. The other 2 guys who commented...
  6. I have searched high and low for a thread with a title of something like "Lets see your 1/12 scale 57 Chevy's". Was that here or somewhere else I saw it? Can anyone help this lost soul locate it?
  7. The cost-to-user ratio simply was not a good financial decision, from what I understand.
  8. I locked this ridiculous thread before anyone had a chance to read it. But its unlocked, and turned out exactly how I thought it would. Jantrix, if you have a problem, adjust. Your problem is not everyones problem. And its not your place to make the rules.
  9. I use superglue for most parts, Mr. Hobby for others, but I ALWAYS use a canopy glue for windows. Its simply not worth the risk to use superglue on windows because the windows are usually the last steps. Even Elmer's glue would work in a pinch.
  10. Never had a problem with photobucket. BUT, a lot of workplaces dont allow photobucket. The comparison is like myspace versus facebook back in the day: same idea, different layout.
  11. Jon. I edited your PDF's out. Its best to post jpegs like your first picture. Here is a tut: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=52417
  12. LIKE!
  13. I am working on 3 or 4 different cars right now. Is that too many? Sometimes I think I should only do one at a time. But when parts are drying, I like to continue on another build.
  14. Ironically I have worked in a jail once, and I get it. I don't think anyone here, including myself, would mind if you re-arranged your name a little. Everyone else... as you were. No shennanigans.
  15. Use your full name. I too have a too secret job, but give me a break.
  16. These were at the Cincinnnati show a couple weeks ago, and are by far some of the coolest cars i have ever seen What class of 1:1 racing are these considered? Were these kits one can buy or were they scratchbuilt? I really want to build a couple. Any similar threads here showing these types of cars?
  17. I've been following this thread on another overseas site. http://www.google.com is a good place if one were to look for this thread elsewhere.
  18. I've read numerous stories about Badger and their great customer service. I'm shopping a new airbrush and Badger is without a doubt my next choice.
  19. I break all my airbrushes down after each use and clean them. That way every time I pick it up to use the next time I know its ready to go.
