  1. I know the person that owns that car now. It's just sitting in a warehouse, never gets driven or raced. Edit; just read the other posts and the booking racing link - I'm not sure that's the same CARS Inc car, as I know for a fact the CARS car is/was owned by Pete Tundas who owns Championship Auto Shows Inc (Autorama and World of Wheels) and TMG, which is a sports marketing company that tours a GM Performance Parts truck. Maybe he sold it. There were 2 weren't there, a yellow one and a teal one?
  2. I love it! I too will order when available. Also can't wait for the turbos to arrive! Thanks again!
  3. I love it! The wheels look killer. Post up some pics of your real truck too!
  4. Resin or Plastic? The last few Lindberg kits I've opened were of horrid quality.
  5. What does "dipped in sauce" mean?
  6. I love it! The inspiration car is sweet too, I saw it at the MoparNats a few years ago. I believe it has paddle shifters, how cool is that?!
  7. I just started again in August, and here's what I've done: Tamiya S2000 Revell SRT8 Magnum Revell Hemi Dart 7/8 complete: AMT 1969 GTX (Satellite converted) And of course the Honda Trail70
  8. Very thoughtful of you, and a fun way to share your talents with your family!
  9. Very sweet! I have had a few Hondas over the years; most notably a GSR swapped 91 CRX, and my long term project is a fully built and caged 88 CRX. A good friend of mine built a k-swapped Midori Green EK, that car was FIERCE! I believe it was a low 11 second car!
  10. It seems that the Meijers in Michigan don't have models, or at least the one in Royal Oak On the upside, Michaels is giving 50% off coupons good from 11-7 to 11-11 with every purchase. I have 3 of them now
  11. I couldn't really find a good reference photo, lol. That picture appears to be from an earlier A-body, so the fuel lines aren't routed correctly, and the AC compressor is different. I've actually been considering pulling this carb off and making something smaller, as this is a 4 barrel, and the car came with a 2 barrel. This is what I was using for reference: From a 1970 Dodge From a 1969 B Body A 1969 A Body A 1969 B Body (air cleaner doesn't help much for the carb reference, this would be a perfect car to reference though, if I could see through the air cleaner!) So yea, I will probably pull it off and correct, thanks!
  12. That's what I figured, it looks great.
  13. Beautiful build son far! What did you use for the exhaust and mufflers?
  14. Finished this little project up this afternoon, fun fun. Some more detail painting on the frame, and adding some "wiring". I used Bare Metal Foil for the fenders, side support things, and engine side cover: So the casting of the exhaust I tried didn't work out, and I ended up just honing a piece of sprue into a coned shape, I think it looks perfect: Getting closer: And the finished product! The decals didn't come out so hot, I think just because they are so darn small!
  15. Another small update... I got the body Bare Metal Foil'd up and cleared. Overall it looks pretty good - a few trouble spots that I'm going to have to focus on before final assembly, but not too shabby for my first shiney paint job in a long time. I used BMF Matte Aluminum for the trunk trim panel, its a little too shiney, but I figured it would look better than if I tried to paint it: And a sneak preview of the body after clear:
  16. Nothing worse than what is already done to existing Slant 6 and 318 shells I suprised they are making coupes when the Convertables draw so much more money.
  17. I was wondering the same thing! They looked staggered, which makes me think they are the 19/23's.
  18. I like it alot! Not at all knocking your build, but being into Sport Compact cars I see real cars built like this a lot - I don't understand cars built with stereo systems and air ride (show modifications) and then roll cages and performance things - the 2 don't really go togather, lol.
  19. So simple, yet so smart! Thanks for the tip!
  20. x2!
  21. Now, onto my decal process. I have to admit that I love the idea of making my own decals, maybe thats what inspired this project. The graphic design stuff is a nice get away for me, and so far I am having great success (knock on wood) with the Testors decal paper. Anyway, these are the designs I wanted to re-create: So, through several steps I lay out the design in Photoshop to re-create the tank stripe logo. Basically each part is a different layer, which makes it easy to manipulate the image as a whole. I started out with the stripes, then added the HONDA lettering (that was easy, just had to find the Honda font online) From there I pulled the Trail70 shape out of the above image and applied it to my graphic, and changed the color to suit my needs. After that I just added the right outlines and stripes and viola! And the finished sheet: Seems like a waste to use the whole sheet for just a few small decals, lol. I also needed a new Satellite logo for that project, so I printed several of each thing I needed.
  22. I saw this kit on eBay a while ago and thought it would be cool to put in the Galazy 38' trailer I plan to build, so for $10 I figured why not. I think its originally from a Monogram kit, but I have no idea. Anyway, I have no idea why, but last night I started google-ing pictures of Trail70's and found one I really liked, and decided I'd start that as a quick side project (waiting for the paint to shrink up a little more before clear on my Satellite.) I must say, so far this is a lot of fun, nice and easy. So this is what I am losely modeling after: The casting is a little shoddy, but its so small that the cleanup was super easy. Glued the 2 halves togather: Sanding the seams: http://www.onesevenonetwo.com/ModelCars/Trail70/Reference%20Pics%20(2).jpg All primed up: I don't know if I lost a piece or if it just wasn't included, but the outside half of the exhaust is MIA, so I decided to cast the inside real quick and try to use it as a base to replace the missing piece: I absolutely love that bright green color, and the closest I could find is Testors One Coat Lacquer Citrus Yellow Metallic. I must say, I am suprised with the quality of the paint. It lays down very nicely, and shines! The metallic is very heavy, which I think is cool. Here you can see a test print of the Honda Trail70 graphics I re-created to make decals from (obviously not the right size, I make the logo large, print to find flaws, then scale down) Some detail painting done:
  23. Looking nice. I'm suprised how well the Shaker fits into the TA hood. That's pretty cool.
  24. And motivated by my pictures I decided to give the BMF behind the decal a shot. I actually just applied the decal to a piece of BMF on the sheet and shot some clear on them. When it dries my hope is that I'll be able to trim it very finely and give it a shot at looking like a real emblem.
  25. Keeping things moving, I stopped by a hobby shop and picked up some Testors decal paper to give my Satellite emblems a shot. I am pleased with the results - for the cost definately can't be beat! I started in Photoshop with a picture of the actual emblem, and re-drew it as close as I could. This wasn't very hard, as I do quite a bit of graphic design stuff for other hobbies. A screen shot of my Photoshop workspace: I made the emblem quite a bit larger than I needed, probably close to the actual 1:1 size, that way when I shrink it down I retain all of the detail. I think I was working around 300 DPI. I printed a few test pages to get my sizing right - I think in the end I went a little bit big, but the smaller you go the more accuracy you lose, so this was a decent compramise. In the mean time I sprayed a second and final coat of paint, and also wet sanded up to 12,000 grit, now all thats left is to apply some clear! My decal sheet - I printed plenty of extra, and used 2 different types of clear coat. Normal Testors Laquer seems to work fine. Applied to the fender: It seems that the black covers very well, however the "silver" (aka gray) is nearly transparent - I believe this is due to the printer "thinking" it is printing on a white surface, and doing half tones of black ink. No biggie, I considered putting a sliver of BMF behind the decal, and deleting the gray layer, but I'm lazy. I forgot to pick up normal clear coat, so that will have to be a project for another day, or later tonight if I get the drive to go pick some up.
