  1. Hi, These old AMT kits had instructions that required a fair amount of interpretation on the part of the builder - keep dry fitting parts and studying the diagrams and you'll get there!! Cheers, Jim
  2. Hi, An amazing build - thanks for putting such sharp pictures of it up. Your outside pics came out really well - it looks like the real thing sitting there! Cheers, Jim
  3. Hi, Nice, tidy, build of a British classic. There's a mini festival held near me every year - if you go into Google Images and type Himley mini show you should get loads of pics to help with build ideas and reference. Cheers, Jim
  4. Hi, An amazing build!! A level of workmanship most of us can only dream of - it would be great to see the model in person but that won't happen unfortunately. I sometimes go to the drags - I'm mainly into the cars but seeing the top fuel bikes roaring down the track often carrying the front wheel a long way and topping 220mph is very impressive! I'll have to have a look though the build thread over on the drag racing section - I'm sure there'll be lots to learn. Cheers, Jim
  5. Not my area of expertise - but anyone can see this is a very sharp build!! Cheers, Jim
  6. Hi, I actually didn't buy any kits the last two years - a pact with my kids to cut down on the kits piling up, I would been fined if I bought anything! So I might buck the trend here and buy one or two kits. Stacey David's 32 and the Revell '62 Corvette are calling out to me. I also might get some kits to donate parts to projects as well. To get more done - I completed two this year and have done quite a bit on a conversion and detailed build I'm doing so have done better than the last few years. I like the idea of regular visits of a medium length duration as suggested in this thread so that'd be a good resolution as well. To use this forum more as well - its a good one! Cheers, Jim
  7. Hi, Thanks - again - the replies are certainly appreciated. Lyle - thanks for the compliment, I'm aware you mastered the body and I looked at the pictures of yours quite a bit before building mine. It only needed basic cleaning up before it was ready for paint and everything fitted together nicely. I was thinking of suggesting to Norm that you produce a folded down top as well - would be good for viewing the interior (especially when at contests!). Cheers, Jim
  8. Hi, When I started reading this thread I thought a recent kit with tons of parts to suggest would be the Revell 5 window but someone beat me to it. I'll add the Revell '41 Willys pro street to this list - the blown hemi, wheels, tyres and chassis are all great for pro-streeting other cars. This is a great idea for a thread - and one I may need to keep for future reference! Cheers, Jim
  9. Hi, Those are great models - you've really captured their character well! Cheers, Jim
  10. Hi, A dozen deuces Mike? That's quite a few! With my collection I'm trying to make them all slightly different in some way (e.g. engines, build style, types of paintwork, etc.). On the engine front I've failed a bit as 3 now have the small block Ford in. Got some excuse though as one was a box stock build for a contest and the other a Speedwagon. Although there's 3 small block Fords they all have different induction so I guess that's something! Cheers,
  11. Hi, Thanks for the replies guys! Michael - it is a RCMoM body, the interior from the 5 window kit fits in perfectly. I'm working through a series of '32s and RCOM has a couple more I will get (the sport coupe and the sedan delivery). Cheers, Jim
  12. Hi, Thanks for the replies! The grille is the MCG item - I find if you buff them with a 6000 grit sanding stick they come out really nice. Haven't used a kit grille on a '32 for a long time. Cheers,
  13. Hi Guys, Here's the cabriolet all done - thanks for the comments in the w.i.p. thread for this build! Cheers, Jim
  14. Hi, This'll be something a bit different - good idea! Looks like you've made a good start to the project. Cheers, Jim
  15. Hi, Nice build of a good candidate for the ulitimate supercar award. It looks sharp and the paintwork has come out really well. Cheers, Jim
  16. Hi, That's a great build of an Allied rig. Bet it looks impressive on your shelf. Cheers, Jim
  17. Hi, Nice build of the Firebird - the others you posted later are really well done as well! Cheers, Jim
  18. Thanks for the replies guys. I'll get some more pics up over the next few days as the assembly progresses. Cheers, Jim
  19. Hi, Thanks for the replies about the rumble seat and the picture of the the model from the back guys. I thought it probably wouldn't have a rumble seat as the easiet thing for Revell to do would be to use the old highboy body. I guess it'd be pretty straightforward to use the trunk from a 5 window kit and the rumble seat from an AMT kit as suggested by Ace-Garageguy. Which AMT kits have the rumble seats? I've a got the American Graffitti kit but I haven't opened it up yet. Any chance of one of those rumble seats for my cabriolet Bill? I haven't got any AMT kits (other than the one just mentioned) and since the trunk area is open on the Replicas and Miniatures cabriolet body it'd be good to have one in there. I'm not too bothered about having one in the Stacey David rat roadster - but if I'm building one for a competition I may change my mind... Cheers, Jim
  20. Hi, I'm in the process of assembling this '32 Ford for our IPMS Hot Rod and Custom Car SIG theme table of 80 Years of the '32 Ford at Scale Model World in Telford, Shropshire, England next weekend. For those of you that don't know about the show it is massive and takes up the whole of a convention centre with 3 1/2 halls of heaven for model builders. The body, that was mastered by Lyle Willets, was purchased from Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland and there is some basic extra detailing (eg ignition wires, brakes, some photo-etch) going on as well. These cabriolets were imported into England so, for a change I have made it rhd as well. The paint is Ford Hot Magenta (mixed by Zero), a two part pearl. The interior and roof have been sprayed with Zero interior paint. Here's a few pictures: A quick mock-up to get a feel for the finished project (it will be fendered when its finished): Cheers, JIm
  21. Hi, I'm looking forward to this one very much - and I do like the colour! I'll probably do one as a replica and then have 2 or 3 for parts - if this is as crammed as the 5-window kit it'll be great (although since its depicting a particular car spares may be limited to unused parts on old sprues they use for the basics of the kit). Does anyone know if it'll come with a rumble seat like the original? It'll be good for a '32 cabriolet I'm building as they came with rumble seats. Cheers, Jim
  22. Hi, Really nice work with a paint job that must really pop in good light! Cheers, Jim
  23. This is sure one beautiful and amazing pro mod build!! I'm going to have read through and study this entire thread at one point as it'll really help me since I'm planning to do a pro mod build at some point. Hope you don't mind me pestering you with some questions one day! Cheers, JIm
  24. Hi, Nice, realistic looking Camaro. Shiny where it would get washed and waxed and looking used in the engine bay and underneath - the overall effect of your model is very good. Cheers, Jim
  25. Hi, Nice build of a classic kit of a prototype hot rod. The full fendered look is nice to see as well. Cheers, Jim
