  1. This is one of those less than 10 minute but really neat superdetail items. I wish the doors would've been so simple. I had an experiment going, but the hinges, which worked, that I made were way too big. Still working that one. As to the PCV, it may be optional as to which side it was on. Some things on all engines are in different spots depending on the truck, even in the same make/model.
  2. I'm guessing you could heat it, but raiding the parts box might keep you from a headache.
  3. The frame is in the ER so to speak. I thought I had it's "travel box" secure, but it fell, so the rear suspension is undergoing a little surgery. No real damage, I just have to put it back together. I will have a progress pic or two later this eveing. I have the auxiliary transmission installed. Which brings me towards starting on the other rear of frame details. I need to get the hydraulic tank in place, as well as decide on a deck plate. Then onward to the engine. I decided to hold off on working the cab until the frame is further along and the engine reinstalled. Not too far to go, I just have to work steady. I spent the afternoon replacing the condensor on my truck(the workbench on wheels must have a/c), so now it's back to the workbench.
  4. I will post some pix this evening. I cut my sleeper down, and I've been trying to figure out the best way to remove the cab roof. Whoever built the Pabst Blue Ribbon Freightliner I'm using has really taught me what a glue bomb is. One word:WOW!!!!! That, and some REALLY thick paint to strip. the SD cab was done by someone else. It's black, but much better. It too is an ebay junker that was disassembled when I got it. I'm sorry there's not much to report right now. this one will require some homework, so it will be awhile before we really see progress with this one. I will be working the cab. the next step is to figure out the Cummins engine and how it's supprted. It's laying sideways under the drom box, not the cab like I said before. Just to be different, I may go with my original plan of doing it as a Mayflower van(hey, green's my favorite color). I'm not sure if the other builder wants to be revealed, but I hope he has luck with his project, but I know he does first rate work, so it will look good. This is my first slice/dice/totally change the cab kind of project. this is the Cummins engine on its side. I will pass any info i get as I'm sure others have kicked this idea around as well.
  5. Interesting concept. I know about the flapping tarp. i had the wind get under a tarp and pulled me off the trailer once. I wasn't hurt, but I should've gotten down sooner.
  6. that's sharp. really sharp. make sure when you do get to paint it, to post a pic. nice job.
  7. I shouldv'e known, as the spot in Colorado is Eagle Canyon. I've been 2 Eagle Pass, TX. As to the tanker, my jaw dropped, but I am not totally surprised.
  8. $192!?! That calls for a letter to your congressman too, lol. I'm bidding on one right now and I hope it stays where it is. I'm not going to go crazy chasing it down, but I do want it. However, my 379 conversion kit is going on a Revell 359 chassis because of this, which was the original plan anyway, as I only have the one I bought 7 yrs ago. I wasn't doing much modeling at the time, but stocking up. Boy am I ever glad I did!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Yes the Phil Jensen method works. I did it with my Ford's hood. I have tested it and it tilts ok. As for the Smith article, I did that for the same truck. I think it's fairly accurate, although I'm not 100% sure. It does make for a nicely detailed engine, although I painted mine Testors Ford engine blue, as I want mine to look like it was rebuilt by a die hard Ford fan.
  10. I've never seen a tarp that looked like this one. I'm so used to the black tarps. Cool idea
  11. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A:IT&ih=014 You wouldn't believe how fast this went from being somewhere around $15 to $76.01, and look where it is now.
  12. Yeah I see there is one on eBay right now. It's already up to $52.00 w/5 bids. It ends Monday i believe.
  13. Thanks for the offer Chris. i would love to see them. I'll send my address to you. Thank you.
  14. I can't believe the 378 was discontinued! No wonder I never see it. I really like your 379-119" Bruce Dewey truck and wnated to try one at a later time, so I will have to keep my eyes open I guess. Darn. Surprising, I thought that one was still around.
  15. It's been so long since I saw the movie, I thought it was a W9. If you see the other truck you were talking about, i would like a pic or 2 if you can get it.
  16. Chris, the pix are fine, and that is one excellent model.
  17. Chris you do incredible work.
  18. My favorite is the maroon lookin pete with the drop deck. I love those big sleepers.
  19. Man I love those old 359's. Pretty sweet ride.
  20. I have a few pieces of info passed along to me about the truck pictured. There is a Cummins engine under that cab Laying sideways. Exhaust side up.Also, it has the Freightliner "Spacesaver Floor", which I assume is more flat. Just trying to find out how the driver gets up to go to bed. I stopped by the house this weekend and picked up the two eBay junkers that will be used in this truck's construction. They are the Pabst Blue Ribbon Freightliner, and a freightliner SD. Anyone with interior pix they can share would be appreciated. looking for any shots at all really. there is another individual building this same truck, and I hope to see his progress, but we both are looking for more info. This Freightliner is hard to find info about. :x but that's ok. I like a challenge. This will be an off and on project for now, as info is limited to this pic, and a couple of pix of a Willamette Valley Freight lines truck that I have in black and white.
