My first big rig model
SpreadAxle replied to J Smith's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
NTC 475 is the correct name of your engine. It's not one I've seen much of in real life, but it is out there. the only one I know of still is in an 82 International conventional that runs out of PA across Ohio a lot. Brown/dark red in color pulling a dry van. This will be a cool model when finished. -
Would you believe my girlfriend said Go 4 it?!?? She is so nice and supportive of my hobby, but that was a bit too much for just one truck. I bought 2 kits for her son, hope to get him in the groove with truck modeling. I told her 4 that kind of money, I could get a dozen kits. I never saw that kit b4 or since. I don't blame you for avoiding the Mrs on that one if it came up. lol.

In a word: SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Incidentally, back in the early 90's, AMt was going to reissue it, but ran into a snag, wonder how they got to release the single drive version. I hear it was because the licensing ppl at freightliner didn't like the fat that the nameplates still read White Freightliner. Just curious, if anyone knows whatever happened with that.

That truck is one I like. I always thought it had a cool look. I was surprised to see them re-issue the daycab version instead of the sleeper version. But if you feel like spending no less than $100, there are some on ebay. I just bought Pabst Freightliner and trailer junker on eBay about 2 months ago. I figured it was better than nothing. lol. The Pabst Beer Freightliner really seems to bring the money in. good luck finding one 4 a reasonable price.

for obvious reasons, I will never forget it. The only other variation of that kit I ever saw would be the Revell Orient Express kit. Never saw this red white and blue truck b4, but they are the same kit pretty much from what I could tell. It only had a handful of bids, not even 10 from what I remember. I meant to mark it in my eBay and watch it, but I forgot to, so I don't know the final price. I know shipping was pricey too. I actually had to tell someone to go look at it to make sure I was right, but it was. $405, with 3 days left. If it went any higher I would faint. anyway, good luck with your pete.

Wow I love it, especially the suspension!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! true talent -
this was in early December. It was a Revell AG kit from the mid 1980's. It was a kenworth cabover with 3 rear axles. the truck on the box art was red white and blue, and the box art showed the truck's passenger side. the bid was at $405 when I first saw it. I never did see if it went higher b4 it sold. It still had like 3 days 2 go on bidding. I wonder where it finally wrapped up. Crazy, huh?

good looking ride -
Personally if it's an American truck I like it. I do prefer the Italeri as far as detail goes. Although Amt has old tooling, I love the 359. I built the Midnight xpress kit years ago. It became a parts truck, so I bought another. Eventually, it will get built. And with more accuracy. As for Kw's, Im disappointed that the mid 80's, square headlight w900 really wasn't made. The Revell AG "Thurn and Taxis" truck and trailer set appear to be the only attempt from pix I've seen, but i've never seen one up close. For all I know, it's an older version.

Mr Can AM, I have a Question 4 U. Where did you get the picture of "sherriff" from the movie Cars. If I could find Mack( the truck) I would like to use him as my pic. thanks -

Interesting too see how long this truck will take the abuse of being a locomotive, but it sure is different -

SpreadAxle replied to B_A_R's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
the truck is a Freightliner, and judging from the colors it was once owned by IWX, but not sure. It's a Classic, with set back front axle, and 112" bbc I believe. i never thought I would see a truck used this way, but that is cool. -
Gee, another Red Oval from Tim..
