Project Christmas

Alright, during the last year, I had reached out to you fellow modelers for extra help on acquiring some snap together models for a project I started 2 years ago. I was asking for more help this year as I have been laid off of work for a year now. Several people came forward and helped me. I want to say thank you very much to all who have helped. You have blessed me and in turn, helped to bless these kids. Of course which in turn was my biggest blessing! I handed out in all, 10 free models to local kids. This year I choose the cub scout pack which I work with. As you can see in the photos, these kids were very glad to get these. I sat down with every single kid and helped them with their models. I even was able to send two kids home with a extra model after the fact! These two want to work with me some more!! Now that is what I am talking about! That is a true blessing and is what my goal is. That is to reach out to kids and show them our hobby and work with them and get them involved and wanting to do more! You can see on these kids faces what joy it was!! So thank you all who helped me out this year with Project Christmas!! I hope next year can be just as successful!! Thanks. Jody

Yes, they have great wheels and engines in them. great for the parts box! if ya dont want yours. I mean ah um. LOL. Down fall is, the tires are not all that great for the older builds as you pointed out! I do not have a good collection of the oldefr style things myself, but trying to work on it! Mean while, these extra tires and rims I am saving for a couple of more 70ish builds. LOL. Keep us posted! Jody

Thanks to several poeple, I was able to give away 10 snaps this year to kids I work with and it was a great joy to sit down with each of those kids and work one on one with them!! I have two interested in working on more with me! I enjoy trying to help the future of our hobby and glad to see kids doing stuff like this kid of yours hs done! Hate to see some of his dads stuff too! LOL> Jody

Well, buckled down today after trying a new church and finished off the interior to the Airoso Bros Willy's I have been wanting to play with BMF for a while. Still dont have any yet, but soon. Anyways sitting here, thought I would play with some aluminum tape for this. Not the greatest job, but I am satisfied. It looks good I think! Makes the interior pop. Again do not know if this is correct for the car as I could not find any interior shots. So I am winging it and making it look good and how I might have it? Hope you enjoy. Jody

The rears are old tires and are the way they look. The fronts are the plastic two piece ones from the Rat Packerr kit. Thanks. Jody

1969 Convertible Chevy Camaro Super Stock
Smart-Resins replied to Smart-Resins's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Well, I am not sure about the hood scoop. To be honest, dont care. LOL. This builds a fun one. Hope to have it built here within another wek. Just need to get out of my slump. As for the roll cage, I was thinking something along the lines of the top one. Now, Im more into the drag scene for the 60's and know that the super stocks were only slightly changes stock cars then. Once we hit the seventies on, I have no clue about regulations etc. LOL. This kit was one a friends gave me as he stole the decals. I had a few in front of it, but it looked like a fun one to build and again, Ive been in a modeling slump, so I tore into it. its been a week and I am flying through it! LOL. Having that fun I was wanting! LOL. As for rule books, I do need to find some for the 60's so I have something on hand to refer to!! Thanks. Jody -
Sounds cool! Jody

1969 Convertible Chevy Camaro Super Stock

Its the pace car kit, so I believe that had the stock 396 in it? Thats what I will be putting in it. I also believe those ran 12's back then? So I think it would have been a roll bar with a front support? I do have to check some photos on that. I have to see what Ray Allen had in his briggs Chevrolet 70 Chevelle as that was just about the fasted convertible that ever blazed down the track! Jody -

Alright. Finally repainted and decal-ed. Not perfect, but not bad. I am tired of trying to redo it after three times and realize I will not get perfect with this one. So is time to get it finished and move on. LOL. By the way, the decals are from Whoopie Kat. Not sure If Ill get any more from them in the future or not? Had to soak them for over 2 minutes, then even longer on a paper towel before I could pursued them to come off of the paper. Then they were very flimsy and was easy to wrinkle, fold and tear. After a month and a half waiting for them, I wondered why I got two sets. Now I know why, I needed them! Also, if wanting to build the newer version, the 264 would need to get removed, and the CA under Tulare is missing. If wanting to do the older version(second) some of the sponsors for the rear quarter panel are missing. IN either case, the B/Gs and the bottom rear quarter panel sponsors are over sized!!Thanks. Here it is in silver before repainting again. Jody

Body is sealed. will get the silver coat today!! The frame is finially done to liking. Now to build the suspension on it! In the pics, you can see the trouble areas that the liquid glue pulled up. Sure glad I cought these now! I certainly do believe in this method now! Thanks. Jody
