Henry J Twin Turbo - Didn't see that coming..........
futurattraction replied to Codi's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Tim, I have totally run out of adjectives to compliment the work you're doing on this build. Simply put, I admire the design, fit and finish of every single tube or rod you've soldered into this masterpiece. I have a couple new questions for you. How long have you been soldering and how do you clean up your joints, especially if you're not happy with their appearance or size? -
Excellent rebuild! Paint and details are both very nice. Thanks for sharing!

My, oh my! That's totally impressive, Tim... -
Hi Buzz. Thanks! I keep getting off-track for a variety of reasons (fingers in too many pies), then having to get myself back into the swing of things. Thank you, so much, Edgar! Hey Stan! Thanks for stopping by and taking a look. Thanks, so much, Andy. Be patient and, Lord willing, there will be a lot more to come. More suspension detail, front and rear; brake and fuel lines, hopefully some electrical, multi-media detailed engine/trans, a new multi-media steering wheel kit that I'll be coming out with before too much longer, tin work detailing and some more cockpit pieces. Dennis - The slicks I'm using are some of what I sell on my Futurattraction website. They are comparable in size to the big Revell slicks, but are one piece, made of soft urethane rubber, and have no mold line in the tread. They look great, feel very realistic and because the tread is smooth, they prep very easily. Take a look at 'em!

I love it. And I love the color too. I've always been partial to charcoals. Had a pro street Maverick back in the late 70s-early 80s about the same color as your Nova. Sweet build!

Hey Justin! You live just down the road a ways... I'm in Coralville. I'll look forward to following along on your build!

Amazing work, Tim. Everything is so clean and crisp. And your photography is outstanding, to boot! What do you use for a camera, if you don't mind my asking? -
I’ve made a bit more progress since I last posted. I got “caps” added to the ends of the axles so the aluminum tubing of my axles will no longer be visible and represents a much more finished appearance. And this pic shows the wheel studs and nuts I've added. The wheels will unbolts from the axles - at least at this point. As you may recall, I had worked on the upper tubing for the wheelie bars. As it turned out, I had to reduce the distance between the upper and lower tubes to create clearance between the underside of the trunk floor and the upper tubes. No wheelie bar tunnel, here... Thankfully, it wasn’t a major undertaking to remove the spanners between the two, thought I've now got some extra cleanup to do on the tubes. Interestingly, it wasn't until I looked at my pictures that I realized that I either hadn't glued the spanner to the upper tube or it was so lightly glued that it came loose, as seen here. I'm much happier with the ride height, as seen in this shot. These two shots also show a detail I added to the rear deck spoiler that I'm very happy with. I had some photo-etch brackets made that help support the underside of the spoiler. This underside shot shows how closely things fit and also the coil-over shock spacers I used to establish the ride height. This is just kind of a cool angle. I have photo-etch spill plates that I will add when I'm much closer to being finished with the body. And another: I plan to fab some 1/16th aluminum tubing 4-link bars that will taper at the ends to replicate the weld-in threaded tubing adapters. Those, and getting repairs made to the front of the chassis so I can actually get this contraption to set on all fours are a couple of my upcoming projects. Comments welcome!

Beautiful work, Tim. I just thought of this question and don't recall it being mentioned, but am curious, what OD tubing are you using for the main rail and cage construction? If you've said and I overlooked, it, I apologize... -

Your mockup shots are great, Chris. This is going to be such an accurate looking build when it's finished that a casual viewer won't be able to tell the difference between the 1:1 and what Mike referred to as your replica of it. I totally agree with his description. And your new fire bottle looks tons more accurate than the original two. Amazing what that bit of difference in shape does to the overall accuracy of its appearance. -

Tim, I'm as impressed with the detail and adjustability of your fixture as I am of your build. Absolutely gorgeous - all of it... That shock and rear end setup is out of this world. -

I'm gonna throw my 1/2-cent in and agree with everyone else, I think Mix #2 is the best match. I admire your dedication to even this level of "getting it right", but then again, I would expect nothing else! It'll be a nice hurdle to be over... -

Chris, I must ask this question, b/c i don't know the correct answer... Were Lencos of that era cast out of aluminum or were they magnesium? Just thought I should toss that out there... -

There are subtle differences in the coloration of the inspection covers to the rest of the can. I hope you're happy with them. The central blanket color (to me) needs to be lightened and the outer color needs to be more blue and less green, as Brad said... Oh, did I tell you I was color-blind? Just kidding! LOL -

Cool! Yeah, making duplicates is always one of the tricky aspects of this hobby, and especially so when it's not something like styrene that you can make one of, then double-stick tape it to material for it's counterpart and file/grind/sand 'til they match each other. This is phenomenal work and so small! Can't wait for your next update... -
Looks good, Tim! And thanks for doing the Ford in Ford combo. Given that I've been a life-long Ford fan, it means a lot...
