carsntrucks4you replied to DaytonaTim's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Great! A dream comes through. During the late '70 early '80 there where rumors of a 427 kit in 1/8 here in Germany. But it was never run into production. Do have any ideas about the price? -

Ford Thames Trader

It is a resin kit from M&G Mouldings. The kit includes beside the resin cab, a piece of wood, plastic profiles, pewter parts and engine and tires made out of resin. The resin is very thick as you can see in one if the pictures. There are no bubbles in the resin only on thick sprue at one corner of the cab. There is only on thing of criticism on this model in my opinion. The grill is is the weakest point of the model. It is wrong for a Mk1 and as well for a Mk2. So use some pictures of a original lorry or get TMW #64, Feb. 2000 for further instructions. The instructions are excellent. the part fit is compare able to KFS resin trans-kits. The price is £105 for the Trader and £22 for the flatbed. I had modified the front to a Mk2. I also add some additional plastic sheet to the inner wall of the cab. The flatbed was slightly modified with some evergreen profiles underneath and with wood stripes. I also added some bolt heads around the flatbed and as well to the chassis. Tie down hook were also added to the flatbed. I add brake and fuel lines to the frame. The frame was made out of 8mm channel instead of the stripes that are include in the kit. The channels were modified according to the drawings in the instructions. But if you are doing this keep in mind that you check the width of the channel, otherwise it could be a problem to fit the engine into the frame. -

Roof welds are quite simple to make. I had used a fine saw, 0.04" plastic rod, glue, small screw driver. Make a notch with the saw were want to place the weld. The depth if the notch should 1/2 of the diameter of the rod that you are using. Then glue in the plastic rod into it. Cover it with plenty of glue, the glue would "melt" the rod. USe a small screw diver to punsh some notches itnto the rod, so that it looks like a weld line. If you want you could cover the notch after drying with bare metal foil. Paint it in the color of your choice. Then glue a piece of sandpaper on a round stick, put it into your Dremel and remove the paint. Then it looks like grind mark on a car. Michael

Hi, I'm going to build a 1963 Studebaker Avanti. Therefore I need some help aboutengine (R2) , transmission and chassis. 1. What color should be used for the engine and transmission? 2. What color was the underbody (primed or body clolor) and the chassis rails (black?)

Worse kit? There's a lot 1. Trabant 601 from Revell/Germany for its kind of car type and the huge trademark sign on the chassis pan. Its a piece of junk! 2. Kenworth T600 from Revell/Germany for its different hight of the frame rails and for the mill marking of the mold on the outside of the cab. More than junk! 3. Lindberg Shelby Daytona Coupe for its scale. I think it is something between 1/22 to 1/32 4. amt's Chrysler 300 C a great model but wrong size appx. 1/23 instead of 1/25 5. Tug Boat Annie resin kit from R&R. 6. All bodies from JAYMAR. 7. These bricks or should I say bodies from TKM These are only a few kits that are worse

Hi Barbo, great tribute. I also build a diorama as a tribute to people how died at 911. When I had build build had problems to show it to modellers from the US, specially residents of New York. It shows a NYPD car cover with dust, stones and paper.
