  11. This is a MG X Power SV or SV-R. In 2003 MG X Power started the production of the SV or SV-R. A Quale Mangusta platform was the base for this car. The main differences between the SV and SV-R are the the engine. A 320 HP 4.6l Ford V8 was used in the SV while a 385 HP 5.0l Ford V8 was used in the SV-R. Some SV-R had a bigger rear spoiler installed. The correct answer were sent in by: Matt Bacon DonW thatz4u matthijsgrit Well done and congratulations
  12. This car is a Triumph TR7 2.0 Litre Convertible . Build between 1979 and 1980. The convertible version appeared in May 1979 – but, again disappointingly for customers in the UK and Europe, its sales were limited to the USA. It was immediately apparent to all that, in this form, the styling was everything that the TR7 should have been right from launch – so right were its lines. No longer was the ‘turret top’ an awkward looking car, but it has gone through the transition to become a pretty and striking open-topped car. The correct Triumph TR 7 answer were sent in by DonW ChrisR Roger U Thom Due to the fact that the bonnet / hood has double bulge some said Triumph TR8, but the convertible TR 7 that were build in Solihull and Canley got the double bulge hood as well. So the follwing members got a commended Ace-Garageguy otherunicorn Earl Marischal thatz4u Matt Bacon Congratulation
  13. I only got one corret answer until now it seems that this car is to though for you. Let me give you a hint. The manufacture of this car started as pump manufacturing company. They late build also airplanes. Think that should be enough. I see yout brains working🤯
  14. 1954 Salmson 2300S by Charbonneaux (Be careful the text says 1955, but the car in the museum was labeld with 1954) Emile Salmson, an engineer, began building pumps and small engines in Paris, France, in 1890. The firm began building airplane engines, then complete airplanes, during WWI. After the war, production expanded into automobile manufacturing. Their first product was a British-designed GN cyclecar, built under license. In 1920 Salmson began production of its first proper car, the model AL. Salmson was an early adopter of production automobile double overhead cam (DOHC) engines, in 1922. The 2300S, introduced in 1953, was Salmson’s final model, based on the saloon Salmson Randonnée. The street version had a top speed of 112 mph, and was a popular race car—one competed in the 1956 24 Hours of Le Mans. Bodies were built by Esclassan and by Henri Chapron. Beside the coupe were also a Cabriolet available. One of these was manufactured by Antem with a coachwork from Philipe Charbonneaux. This car is now in the Musée National de l'Automobile. Mulhouse/F. High post war taxes on larger engines and slow sales (89 vehicles in 1952) led to Salmson’s bankruptcy and an end to automotive operations in 1957. The automobile plant was sold to Renault but the Salmson brand continues in France today as a high-quality manufacturer of pumps. 15. It seems that this is tougher than I thought Hint: 5" shorter
  16. This time I was looking for a different Hudson. Most of answered Hudson Hornet or Hudson "Commodore" (which named Commodore Six or Commodore Eight but never Commodore), no it is the 5" shorter 1952 Hudson Wasp. The difference can be seen at the front fender which is shorter than on the Hornet. Another difference is the engine. Standard was the 232 cui L-Head I6 engine, while the Hornet had the 308 cui L-Head I6. Sorry
  23. I think that I found a car that makes some of you thinking in the wrong way. This is not a Facelila, Facel Vega Facel II or Facel 6 or a HK500. This is a 1965 Facel Vega Facel III (sorry German side) powered by a 1.8l Volvo engine. This car replaced the Facelila that was powered by an 1.65 l engiene that was developed by Facel Vega and this engine suffered from high oil comsumption and burned pistions. The high number of engine blow up's led to financial problems and ruined the image and reputation of Facel Vega. As a result of the ill fated Facelila Facel Vega introduced the Facel II 1963. The Facel III was distinguish by the engine, headlights, grill , rear fender, trunk lid, taillights and dashboard to the Facelila. ( I hope that I'm grammatically correct - I hate gramma). The Facel II was build from 1963 - 1964. After 432 cars production ends and Facel Vega was history. The correct answer were sent in by: Ace-Garageguy thatz4u Earl Marischal otherunicorn DonW matthijsgrit ChrisR Well done and congratulations
  24. I have to stop this unhealthy discussion. I have to break a lance for Jose (Big Messer). After the death of Harry P. we were looking for someone who takes over the old Autoquiz. Otherunicorn jumped in and later I as in charge. I had added some new ideas like truck quiz, taillight quiz or one off. Some works well some not. Jose is new in this section and he had an idea for a quiz. The truck is an interesting subject and not that easy to find. He had started the quiz without knowing that I usual do the quiz. How should he know this? There is no information who should do the quiz, there are only rules. I don't want to be the one and only who does the quiz. I can remember that other members did the quiz since I took over the quiz section from otherunicorn. Some ask if they could do the next quiz or sent interesting cars to me as a quiz idea. In the first moment I was surprised that somebody had started a new quiz, but then I said ok I don't have to start a new one. I had sent him the answer for this quiz and we chat about how we usually do the quiz. I gave him some advises like adding a number in the header and that he should attach the rules to a new quiz. For me it is ok that Jose had started the quiz. And Ihope that my answer is correct
