In 1954 the Council of Ministers of East Germany decided that a small passenger car has to be build to mass motorising East Germany. It should have 2 proper seats and 2 smaller sats and should weight no more than 600kg (1322lbs). Due to steel shortage it should have a plastic body. The VEB Automobilwerk "Audi" Zwickau developed the AWZ P50. After merging of VEB Automobilwerk "Audi" Zwickau and VEB Sachenring Kraftfahrzeug und Moterenwerke Zwickau to VEB Sachenring Automobilwerke Zwickau the prodution of the now Trabant P50 called car started. Between 1957 and 1962 131,495 units were build. . The P50 was powered by a two cylinder two stroke engine with 30.5 cui 17 hp later 20 hp. The successor Trabant 600 or Trabant P60 shares the same body work with the P50. this was build from 1962 - 1965. If you thought that a Pontiac Aztec is ugly what about the 1977 Leata Cabalero. The car was manufactured by Stinebaugh Manufacturing Company in Post Falls, Idaho. Don E. Stinebaugh had come up with the idea of converting Chevrolet Chevettes into small luxury cars. To do this, he formed special body parts, again from fiberglass. The Leata Cabalero (written with only one "l") was modeled on much larger personal luxury cars, but from the front it was also reminiscent of the first generation Toyota Cressida. Again there was a coupe and a pick-up. For the latter he built a frame to give the Chevette's self-supporting body the necessary rigidity. The Cabalero, presented in 1977, was much easier to build than its predecessor. Around a hundred examples were produced, but none of them made any money. The correct answer were sent in by: otherunicorn Fabrux thatz4u Richard Bartrop Congratulations

This quiz is a mixture one off and regular auto quiz. This car was build only 3 times and it is is based on an Hillman Imp. The Imp was a rear engined car that was build between 1963 - 1976. The 875cc 4 cylinder 39hp engine was originally design for portable fire pumps. In 1963 Zagato had designed the Hillman Zimp. Hillman owner Rootes Group planned to start serial production. When Chrysler heard about the comperation between Roots and Zagato they used their 50% stock holding to block the project. This time otherunicorn thatz4u Richard Bartrop ChrisR Ace-Garageguy Matt Bacon chunkypeanutbutter know the answer on this quiz. Congratulations

This cars was designed by Sir Alec Issigonis. This revolutionary car was planed as a replacement for the 3-litre series of Alvis. The Alvis TA 350 was features an integral body instead of a separate frame with a body like on the TA21 and a 3.5ltr. V(.. Planned for a high volume production and it would shift Alvis from a mass production manufacturer. Dailmer Conquest, Humber Super Snipe or Rover 75 were the rivals of the TA350. After 2 years of development 2 prototypes and 8 V8 engines were finished. But in 1955 the project was stopped due to financial problems. The protoypes were scraped in 1964. It seems that this one was quite easy due to response from you. From 1969 - 1972 Alfa Romeo had build the Alfa Romeo Junior Z GT1300. The underbody was used from the Alfa Romeo Spider (4" shorter wheelbase) until the rear axle while rear section was special purpose build for the Zagato. It fuel used a similar styled fuel tank as the Alfa Romeo Montreal with a really unpractical position of the spare tire. It was powered by a 1300 ccm 4 cylinder engine. A second series with a 1600ccm engine based on the 4" shortened Alfa Romeo Spider underbody was build from 1972 - 1975. The now 1600 GT named car had 4" longer rear section, different taillights and gas filler door on drivers side. I think my hint started more confusion than I thought. Some said that the car is named after the 24th and last letter of the Greek alphabet or named after a mythical creature know s a half-eagle, half-lion in various cultures. So lets try to got more to the car that I'm looking for. it is not named after a mythical creature know s a half-eagle, half-lion in various cultures. It is not named after named the 24th and last letter of the Greek alphabet. It is named after a city and the name was changed after one the big three claimed the name for there midsize cars to a country. I think that lets to the correct name. Keep in mind it isn#t that easy because all of these cars share the same body. -
This was a not so easy one. Frank Reisner founder of Intermeccanica had started build cars in the 1950's. In conjunction with Jack Griffith Intermeccanica build the Griffith. It had its formal coming-out party at the 1966 New York Auto Show, and as with the Apollo a couple of years earlier, the initial press reports were glowing. The Griffith was fresh and innovative with a sleek body and powerful drive.Unknown to Intermeccanica, Jack Griffith’s company was in financial difficulties and a new partner, Steve Wilder, decided to take over the project. Calling the car the Omega, Wilder had them assembled in North Carolina.Frank Reisner from Intermeccanica developed a new classic that was based on the original Griffith bearing the name Torino — later re-branded as the Italia. This highly successful vehicle caught the eyes of discerning car lovers. The Italia was the perfect name for the elegant, sexy sports car, and one North American consumers would immediately fall in love with. Basically we are speaking about the same car with different names. 1. Griffith 600 - It seems that only 2 cars delivered with engines (1x ford, 1x Plymouth) 8 -12 were sold without engines 2. Omega GT - Successor of the failed Griffith 600 with Ford engine. Only 33 were ever build 3. Intermeccanica Torino - Third time of the old Griffith 600. 97 were build until Ford got a trademark on the name Torino for their midsize cars. The red car from the quiz was for sale at the Techno Classic fair in essen/Germany this April. It wasn't sold 4. Intermeccanica Italia - Last of the the old design. No changes compared to the Torino 411 build cars. With this interesting history in mind I gave you the following hint: ".... it is not named after a mythical creature know s a half-eagle, half-lion in various cultures. It is not named after named the 24th and last letter of the Greek alphabet. It is named after a city and the name was changed after one the big three claimed the name for there midsize cars...." This means it is not a Griffith 600 it is not a Omega GT and it is not a Intermeccanica Italia. It is a Intermeccanica Torino build from 1968 - 1970 So with a little help the following member got it rigth: Matt Bacon Ace-Garageguy Richard Bartrop otherunicorn TarheelRick DonW thatz4u Congratulations
