Ford Falcon XW ute
carsntrucks4you replied to Cool Hand's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Looking good. Got mine today -
This is a 1986 - 1990 Ford Escort RS Turbo. It was the top model of the Escort. The engine was a 1600cc fuel-injected CVH engine taken from the S1 Turbo but now fitted with the Garret T3 turbo (water-cooled, unlike the S1), revised engine management settings, lower overall gearing, an improved gearbox and limited-slip differential, a larger clutch and improved KE Jetronic unit and inter-cooler. Suspension and chassis changes included stiffer front and rear springs, uprated anti-roll bars, mechanical ABS and larger brakes. The S2 car produced an impressive 132bhp at 5750 rpm, with maximum torque of 133 lb/ft produced at 2750 rpm, giving it ample performance with a top speed of 125 mph and a 0-60mph time of 8.3 seconds. Flatheads with speed equipment
carsntrucks4you replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Tim, i think that the Stromberg 97 carbs from Model Car Garage are the best that you can get. The valve cover are also very good. I had used them one all of my flathead models -

What's going on guys? No clue what this car is? Let me give you a hint. The designer envisioned the car "would be Build by black hands in a Black community". An idea what car this is? -
The mid engined 1969 Corvin Getaway was created by Afro-American photographer and designer Cliff Hill. He wanted it to serve as both an inexpensive, agile city car suited to Los Angeles driving conditions, and a source of reliable, well-paying jobs that would allow Black families in Los Angeles to build wealth. He envisioned that it is build by Black hands in a Black community. He starts with to work on the car shortly after the Watts Riots in Los Angeles in 1965. The only prototype was finished in 1969. Many black celebrities like Sidney Portier, Muhammed Ali or Marvin Gaye supported the presentation of the Getaway at the 1970 Los Angeles Auto Show. Hall couldn't get enough money together to get the Getaway into production . He stored it for many years in his garage. First he loaned the Getaway to the Peterson Auto Museum later he donated it to the museume. It was fully restored in 2018. Under the fibreglass's body was originally a motorcycle engine and transmission planned. The only prototype was powered by a 4 cylinder Subaru engine that was mated to a Subaru transmission. It seems that a prewar car makes it tough for you to find the correct answer. This car is a Mercedes Benz 170 H (W28) build from 1936 - 1939. The W28 was a derivative of the former W23 (Typ 130) which uses parts of the front engine W136 (Typ 170 V) . The H stood for Heckmoter (Rear engine) while V stood for Frontmotor (front engine). The engine was a flathead 4 cylinder lilne engine with 1697ccm and 38 HP. The 170H was more luxurious than the 170 V and 15% more expensive. With the upcoming WW II and less demand production was stopped in 1939. The correct answer were sent in by: thatz4u thedragsterdude DonW Junkman Ace-Garageguy Congratulations

This time a car from Japan was the one in question. This is a 1971 Subaru FF-1 station wagon. It was also called Subaru FF-1 Star. The FF-1 (A-14) was development of the Subaru 1000. It was powered by a 1100 ccm flat four cylinder engine (EA-61) when it was introduced 1969 in Japan. It was sold in the USa from 1970-1971 as the FF-1 Star while the 1972 model was sold as the Subuaru FF-1 1100. A second 1300 cc engine (EA-62) joined the line up in 1971. I had started with the excellent Strato Models Kenworth 925 with sleeper. The frame is a a photoetched one that I had soldered together. The quality of the frame is similar to those of the A&N Trucks photoechted frames. You can build the truck either with a Kenworth factory build sleeper or without. I cut out the rear opening to the cab to fit the sleeper to it. The Cummins NH200 is covered by a resin hood with photoetched side panels. To show the engine you have to lift the whole thing from the truck. No way I want a folding hood. I first did one out of thin copper sheet with rolled in hinges. I wasn't happy with the result, therefore I made a new one out of brass with single hinges that were soldered to the panel.

This odd looking car is a Bombardier Venus. In the early 1980 the president of L’Auto-Neige Bombardier Limitée visit Paris and was fascinated by cars that could be driven by 14 year old child's and those didn't require a licence. Due to the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards such micro cars are illegal in Canada. In 1984 Bombardier found Daihatsu as a manufacturing partner for the Project Venus (Vehicle, Economical, New, Utilitarian, Safe). Bombardier wants to build most of the car while Daihatsu provides engine and transmission. It never went in to production. Some thought that this is a photoshoped car, it isn't. This is a 1982 VAM Lerma. Vehiculos Automotores Mexicanos (VAM) was a license partner of American Motors Corporation AMC) in Mexico. VAM imported and produced cars and light trucks under licensefrom Willys, AMC, Chrysler, Jeep, Renault or Eagle, they also designed their own vehicles based on AMC platforms. The Lerma was one of those. The Lerma was a cut and weld built body. The front section was based on an AMC Concord, while the rear half was used from a AMC Spirit. VAM present the design to AMC but manufacturing cost and the sales the aging Concord/Spirit line were not up to adding a new body stlye.
