  2. Thedragsterdude found this car and I said to him that there will be a lot of wrong answers. And there were a lot of wrong answers. It seems that this car is an easy one because it looks familiar. But it isn't. In 1975 Lancia unveils the Lancia Beta Montecarlo, a 2 seat mid-engine sports coupe. In 1976 the want to sell the Montecarlo also in the USA, but GM had the rights on the name Montecarlo, so Lancia can't sell it under this name. Lancia named it Scorpion instead of Montecarlo. To accommodate U.S. emission regulations, a smaller emissions-tuned 1,756 cc twin cam engine was fitted. With less aggressive camshaft profiles, a smaller carburetor, and the compression ratio reduced to just 8.1:1, the Scorpion delivered 81 hp (60 kW), down from the 120 of the Montecarlo. To meet crash test and lighting requirements, the Scorpion had bigger 5-mph bumpers and low-rise pop-up, sealed beam headlights, adding some 130 lbs to the curb weight. Two additional series of vents on the engine cover were required to cool the catalyst. A total of 1805 units were built between 1976-1977. The correct answers were sent in by (some needed a little help) otherunicorn Ace-Garageguy RogerU Matt Bacon ChrisR thatz4u Bainford matthijsgrit DonW warra48 Earl Marischal Congratulations

  8. I don't want to start a discussion about the design of this car, but it looks a bit strange. The Lea-Francis Lynx was build in 1960 and was powered by a 2.533L Ford Zephyr engine and a Triumph TR3 transmission. The design failed to impress potential buyers. Only three cars where build. The correct answer where sent in by: thatz4u otherunicorn DonW Ace-Garageguy Congratulations
  9. Since I got in to official retirement on Sunday I have more stuff to do than I thought🤣. I simply forgot to finish this quiz on Monday. Therefore 'll give you a hint for this one. The car had a two stroke engine and it was build in the southern hemisphere.

The two door body was designed by the Italian Carozzeria Fissore. The Fissore is technical based on the DKW-Vemag Belcar, which means it has a 3 cylinder two stroke engine and the chassis from the Belcar. It was built parallel to the Belcar until 1967 until VW do Brazil take over DKW-Vemag. Around 2500 cars were build. The outdated two stroke engine prohibited a market success. 11. It seems that this van was a tough quiz last week. This van was produced in Brazil from 1987 on. I couldn't any information how long the SR Ibiza was manufactured. Eduardo de Souza Ramos created the Ibiza, developed on the chassis of the Ford F-1000 pickup truck by SR Veículos Especiais (SR Special Vehicles). The front was inspired bey the Ford Aerovan but it had the size of a Ford Econoline. Interesting SR Ibiza buyers enjoyed the same the warranty like all Ford buyers. The correct answer were sent in by ChrsR otherunicorn Fabrux thatz4u Congratulations, well done!
  12. 1964- 1970 Reliant Scimitar GT SE4. The styling was based on the Daimler SX250 prototype. Build up on the chassis of a Reliant Sabre and powered by different Ford engines (SE4A 2.6l I6, SE4B 3.0l V6 Essex, SE4C 2.5l V6 Essex). The body was made out of fibre glass. 13. This rearend shows to a 1983 Mercury Capri RS Crimson Cat. The Mercury Capri was based on the fox bodied Mustang and only sold as a hatchback model. Main difference to the Ford Mustang where the flared fenders and a different front facias. For 1983, the Capri received a redesign of the rear hatchback, distinguished with a large compound-curve "bubble-back" rear window. Along with that revision came newly styled tail lights, rear bumper cover and front end grille. The car in the picture shows the one-year only Crimson Cat package. The Gold striping, TRX wheels and bright crimson red (code 27) paint, with black sport performance seating and red inserts gave this Capri a distinctive appearance. I got a lot of correct answers and a few refers to the Crimson Cat . Therefore I split the result into Gold and Silver award Gold - 1983 Mercury Capri RS Crimson Rat: Fabrux otherunicorn thatz4u DonW Silver - 1983 Mercury Capri RS TarheelRick Bucky Meriva Bainford Congratulations to all of you, well done.
  14. The Peerless GT Phase 1 was build from 1957 until July 1959. Nearly 250 Phase 1 were build when a facelift with over 20 small and not so small improvements were incorporated in to the design of the new Phase 2’s in July 1959. Most of these changes are not visible but a revised frontal design resulted in the headlamps being partially recessed into the fenders and a conventional non chromed grill replacing the “P” emblem that adorned the air intake of earlier cars. On the hood a single fairing replaced the previous “double-hump”. It wasn't an easy task to for me to decide who had sent the correct answer because most of the answer were Peerless GT. some said 1958, some 1959 some 1958 - 1961. So who gets a highly recommend for the correct answer Ace-Garageguy otherunicorn Richard Bratrop DonW Earl Marischal Recommend goes to thatz4u Bucky Congratulations
  15. According to the British motor journalist Giles Chapam the Humber Spectre Mk III was the worst car ever sold. Rootes Motor ltd. wanted to make a quick profit from the "ultra-respectable" reputation of the Humber brand and did a "good job of turning a traditional name into worthlessness. The Humber Spectre Mk III was build from 1967 - 1976. The Spectre Mk III was the only model of the luxuries high end car manufacture Humber that was produced after Chrysler ´had taken over Roots Motor Ltd. It was the high end middle class car of the Rootes Arrow car range (Singer Gazelle, Singer Vogue, Hillman Minx and Hilmann Hunter) Rootes sold seven different models that shares a common rootes Arrow base. This badge engineering was very common in the 1960/1970 in the Uk. 19. Tis car was the world's first fibreglass bodied 5-door station wagon ever produced. The Anadol SV 1600 had a completely different design than the 4 -door Anadol models. The body lines where inspired by Reliant's Scimitar sports wagon coupe,. Power came from a inline 4-cylinder Ford "Kent" 1599ccm, 65 hp engine. 20. When I look back on more than 50 years of truck and car modeling I saw so many excellent build models on various model car shows in the USA, UK, Canada, Belgium, Netherlands or Germany that were destroyed by a figure that looks so awful. If you can't paint a figure never ever put this piece of junk next to or inside the model. Typical failures on these figures are eyes bigger than a squash compared to the size of it, painted without any shadowing, highlights or depths, glossy shine or painted figures from American Diorama etc.. Those figures will get more attention than your perfect, high detailed model. Specially when you are on a show where also figures are on display. If you want to place a figure next to your model learn how to paint the. Have a look to the military and figure modelers. Ask them how to paint a figure. That is how I learn it. Nowadays I can't do it any more due to the fact that I'm getting older and the magnifier can't be big enough ? Your model gets more attention compared to others if display it on a mirror, a piece of wood or even on a real carburetor or valve cover. Friend had loaned me a cracked Weinand blower were I displayed a funny car on it. Another idea is to build big models in 1/12 or 1/8 than you get a lot of attention, because the average people just see the size.
