  1. looking good so far, very creative, keep it up
  2. A BIG improvement on what you started with ! nice job
  3. been watching this one for a while now, very creative !
  4. The internet is what really brought me back to modeling, the choices and selection are almost endless. I've always lived in a rural area with the nearest hobby shop over an hour drive away. There is a nice Hobby Haven in Des Moines with a good selection of current models, supplies and tools but its just so much easier to get on the net and find what I want, then use my time on projects and save gasoline too. A day or two later its in the mailbox. I do enjoy browsing through the hobby store when I am in town and with all the trains and RC stuff they will probably be there for years to come but if not it really won't affect me.
  5. Cool ! That engine really put a smile on my face
  6. Thanks for compliments, all the great work I see on this forum really inspires me to improve my models !! All are painted with automotive basecoat and clear, sanded and polished. I owned a collision repair shop for over 20 years, sold it to an employee last year and he still lets me raid the paint shelf for leftovers or mix up some if I can't find what I need, like the yellow '56 class photo
  7. Started on the '56 years ago, before it was finished I decided it needed a '56 and a '57 to go with it. Finally got all 3 done, some wip photos here http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=55164&p=643252 The '56 and '57 have a much more finished inner bed.The '57 was by far the most involved, a lot of bodywork to get it where I was satisfied.
  8. That will definitely be different and cool, I remember some V6 to small block chevy V8 swaps in the real ones, seems they had the same bell housing pattern on the transaxle. just a thought
  9. Looks good, really seems more interesting and authentic without all the chrome, your finishes look great
  10. Very nice ! sits great on those big wheels
  11. finally finished up the '57, lots of trim work on these things ! I'll post some pics of all 3 under glass soon.

    Duece Vicki

Very cool ! I really like the stance. Could you tell me where you found the wheels ?
  13. That is really looking good, nice detailing !!
  14. Just because you replaced a part, like the fuel pump for example, doesn't mean you put a good part back on. The quality of much of the parts store replacement parts is poor and getting worse. I am so tired of replacing parts over and over and sometimes losing customers. Lately I am seeing their parts warranties getting shorter and cutting or eliminating labor claims too, kinda proves my point doesn't it. Good luck with it Charlie.
  15. Never miss it ! I usually watch the new episode a couple times just to catch all the details, wife likes it too except for the really gory parts, then its "tell me when its over so I can open m eyes"
  16. If we all did this the US Postal Service could start making money again ! I get several pounds of that stuff every week, from now on back it goes
  17. Looks like a cool project, go for it !!
  18. Nice show, first time I was able to attend, quite a few nice models on the contest tables, lots of stuff for sale and trade, got several parts kits, and some nice builders without breaking the bank ! Met some nice people too, I already plan on going next year and hopefully bring something for the contest tables, Thanks to those who put on the show.
  19. I think this was brought up in the recent Dodge pickup thread but it fits here too ! No 2 wheel drive suspension, tires or wheels, no mention of 2 wheel drive stock version in instructions either. Its also a "100" with 8 bolt wheels ???
  20. OUCH !
  21. Thanks David, I can't believe I missed that detail for the air intake. I have a lot of pics of these but never noticed that one, duhhh. should be easy enough to fix though and its gonna bother me til I do.............uhhhh excuse me a moment..............ok, its better now
  22. search photo etch bender or photo etch bending tool, you'll get lots of choices. I like the vise style because I can lay things out under my 5x lighted magnifier, just can't see like I used too this is the model car garage wipers, cut them loose and cleaned up with a file. Like was previously mentioned they bend nicer with the pre-scribed lines to the OUT side. I think the scribe makes for a little thinner area and it just naturally bends easier there. Pics are so-so, the best I could get now they're ready to paint, a drop of super glue holds it together, I have also dipped the blade in some tamiya acrylic clear, let it start to get tacky and set it on, won't fog the windshield that way.
  23. Here is a pic of the vise I use to bend photo etch, all the hobby suppliers sell them, ebay has several too, different shapes and styles available. Photo etch was a real problem/mystery to me til I got this. The piece I was working on today, ' 57 Chevy rocker panel. The clamp holds it really well, slip a razor blade under it and bend away. I'll be trying the wipers in the next few days and if I can get some decent pics I can post them if it would help anyone ?
